Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. The staff were so friendly and helpful!

So with my wedding, i learned there will be ups and downs with the planning on the way. But in the end it will all come together and be perfect.

My wedding was fantastic. So much space to move around. Such lovely, helpful staff. The wedding breakfast is lovely and the staff kept the room tidy and topped up during it. ļæ½

Everything ran so smoothly. Food was amazing and the bbq food was over flowing, bubbly on a boat trip along the thames was also fantastic. They accommodated all my meeds and wants. 100/10

Highly recommended.

Six of us dined in the Sindhu Restaurant, on the lunchtime menu. It looked a little thin, as printed; don't let that put you off, it's anything but. Excellent service, and real fresh herbs which create a taste explosion in your mouth.

Don't hesitate!

User

Had an amazing evening and night, staff are very polite and helpful. Canā€™t speak highly enough of how all the staff act and interact with customers.

Canā€™t wait to go back, I have left full review on Trip Advisor. Many Thanks

Had Champagne Afternoon Tea here, enjoyable experience while looking out over the Thames by the bridge. The service was very good, the only "gripe" was that we had to ask the waitress to take our pot of tea order. This was only a minor slip-up on their part and was in no way spoilt our time there. The sandwiches were tasty, the scones were soft, warm and tasty with clotted cream & strawberry jam. The pastries and fancies were very sweet and we left a gap before we started eating them, as we were getting a bit full. The tea we chose was lovely , I hasten to add. All in all it was a lovely and satisfying couple of hours and made more enjoyable by having a glass of champagne.

User

From the minute we arrived for our New Year Eve stay everything was perfect. Attentive impeccable service. The room overlooking the Thames was beautiful. Food delicious and the ball was a perfect way to end the year. Thank you so much.

User

Attended Burns night . Fantastic evening . Attentive staff , beautiful food . Entertainment was traditional and great fun . Thank you for a wonderful evening

User

Afternoon tea was awesome, the scones were the best & set in beautiful surroundings with the weir & wildlife all around

I booked the hotel for long weekend via every escape website. I use this website a lot and was looking forward to going on this weekend. We had a bottle of wine plus three course meal at restaurant. I paid for the whole package plus booking fee which included the breakfast. The best things I like are having your dinner sitting next to River, wonder full food, and made to measure breakfast. Before dinner we went for a drink and I loved the town with exclusive boutiques, what a wonderful break, what a wonderful placešŸ’ƒšŸ„‚šŸ’ƒ

User

A beautiful location but very disappointed that our view was the car park. Dinner at Sindhu was excellent but let down as the tables for two are so close together that private conversation is not possible. Breakfast was delicious but let down as we were lead to the wrong door then passed to the clip board for ticking then lead back to where we first entered to be seated. Best black pudding I have ever tasted. A lovely relaxed hotel in a beautiful town.

User

Room ok bed a little uncomfortable. Reception staff not the most welcoming, the women we had could have at least put a smile on her face! Service wasn't great we paid more to have breakfast in bed, it arrived late, wrong order, cold and was a child's portion! How cheap is a tin of beans?! And your giving people a teaspoon, and trying to charge a couple Ā£36 and brought up Ā£41 for breakfast! ļæ½ļæ½

User

It was a lovely place and we were very pleased with the service, the only thing that spoilt it, was having to send the sandwiches back as the bread was hard and stale, a little bit upsetting as afternoon tea was Ā£30 each.

User

Very disappointed as our room is absolutely suffocating . The window opens two inches . We did find a small fan in the wardrobe but it is doing little to cool the room. The fridge is not working and there is no one answering the reception phones to bring fresh milk ļæ½

This was our 2nd visit, being long time Mac Donaldā€™s owner members in a MacDonaldā€™s Spanish resort.

The hotel has an overwhelmingly beautiful setting and presented very well with good ratio of staff to guests nice bar service and good food. The staff were polite and friendly however we felt there was a thread of inexperienced staff on this visit. I twice felt awkward at reception with 2 separate unsupervised trainees on 2 separate days. This was in front of my own guests and other guests, when being challenged about the charging of the rooms twice which I had prepaid using my member entitlements. There was no recognition of which guest was being addressed about the booking with my guest being asked about room payment, and I was asked to pay a bar bill that was not mine and for which there was no receipt, list of itemised drinks or time of purchase. I was also handed very dirty condiments at breakfast by waiting staff which I genuinely wouldnā€™t open due to sauce all over the lid and neck of the bottle and which I had to hand back to a more senior waitress, along with my now very dirty napkin.

Shame about this in such a well graded hotel, which showed lack of experienced staff, lack of attention to detail and integrity, lack of senior supervision and lack of relevant training to frontline staff - expected more from you MacDonaldā€™s.

User

Nice hotel, in great position however, service was poor. We attended a wedding with 100 guests but the bar only had 1 Barman , we asked for shampoo which you would have thought would have already been in the bathroom, but it never arrived

User

My husband took me to the Compleat Angler today for my afternoon tea as a birthday treat. We had to send the first lot of sandwiches back as they were dry as sticks. Very disappointing and over priced and absolutely no atmosphere at all, really disappointed and would not recommend at all ļæ½

User

Afternoon tea- disappointing. After booking this over 2 months ago, we were very much looking forward to our anniversary celebration afternoon tea. When we arrived, we said we had a reservation & were told to pick anywhere we like to sit, didnā€™t even ask our name! A little odd as we had previously emailed to advise of a dietary requirements this obviously wasnā€™t noted as they didnā€™t know who we were or even what time we had booked for!

Table very basic & chintzy, not laid out particularly special, removed a fly from my cheap Willow Pattern cup.

Ordered our tea & champagne. Tea arrived, no extra hot water given or offered throughout the whole period. Sandwiches basic, scones average & cakes looked like they were made in bulk & then cut into 4, certainly not individual or delicate. I can understand hotels cashing in on what is a very popular past time & money for nothing, however when you are charging the same as 5* hotels that offer 1st class Afternoon Tea you need to get it right..

I have been extremely lucky to have experienced Afternoon Tea is some amazing places, this one was below average. Just because you have a beautiful location does not mean you donā€™t have to try. Toilets also smelt awful of poor drainage & I can see from other reviews this is an ongoing issue.

I had initially liked to stay at the hotel but I think I have changed my mind.

Such a shame as so much potential.

User

Afternoon tea at the compleat angler was a compleat disappointment...šŸ˜” thank gawd it was a present and that we didnā€™t pay for it...

Cold tea, dried up sarnies x 6 fingers... rock hard scones (mini) and an assorted of half a mouthful cakes, which were not nice... we were in there for an hour and left... no atmosphere, couldnā€™t understand the waiter which was bad as we asked if there was meat on the platter... when weā€™d asked for no meat... and then there was ham! Never mind... been there, done it and wonā€™t do it again...

And the toilets stank...

But... a lovely view...

User

Made to feel awful as if we shouldn't be there. Nearly Ā£600 spent to have our bags left in a full reception unattended. Receptionist didn't move to help customers/show them where to go. Went to enjoy a drink on the lawn had to wait 20 mins to get a drink while watching 3/4 other tables get served. Balcony was peeling and left black paint all over my clothes. Room service?!? Ring for fresh milk?!? Might need to answer your phone room service team.....room cleared out at 1ish breakfast tray was left on a bench in the corridor by a window sunbathing until gone 5! Teapot wasn't replaced for 2nd morning so could have a cup of tea...guess what ring ring ring ring ring ring...give up. Very upset as could of stayed here again and again had it lived up to its price.
