This #weddingwednesday we bring you some lovely feedback from Siobhan & Scott who got married here in May, here's what they had to say...
"Our Wedding wouldn't have been the same without the on hand support and guidance of our wedding planner Evee. Nothing was too big an ask or a stupid question and she always remebered us which made us feel special!
On the day I'd like to say a special thanks to Toby. What an exceptional gentleman! He made our day perfect. Always on hand to... help whether that be putting a glass of prosecco in my empty hand or helping me with my shoes. It's rare to get service like that anywhere.
Apart from these two members of staff which frimley hall should be so proud to have, all the staff on the day put our guests at ease. Everything was smooth eventhough we ran over time wise. Our guests commented on what a lovely venue it was and how relaxed they felt there.
Apparently it's rare to have a wedding and be able to say there was not one thing you would change but we can and we owe alot of that to the staff at frimley hall. Thank you".

Back in March, we celebrated with Rachel & Alan as they tied the knot at Frimley with all their Family & Friends, here is what they had to say:
"Like I said I haven’t found the words yet to write a review , but for the meantime wanted to say all the girls at reception had been great! Yasmin on the bar was brilliant! Paul was fab , he did the job very well, and everyone really, I wish I knew all the waiter/waitresses names because they were all so lovely to me and the guests..., very kind and helpful.
The roast.... AMAZING!!!!! On our info cards guests had to answer what’s the best part of the day, almost everyone wrote the food!
THANK YOU to Evee also for everything she's done for us and her generosity over the last year, we’ve made a friend for life ! "

Well what can I say... we got married yesterday (23/02/2018) & it was the best day of our lives, not only because we got married but because we got married at the Macdonald Frimley Hall Hotel. The staff here were amazing, Evee went above & beyond & is a real credit to the hotel, she made everything so much easier for me & reassured me every step of the way.

This place is truly magical, everything about it was beautiful, everyone commented on how beautiful this place is, its perfect for your wedding.

The food was out of this world & again everyone commented on how lovely the food was.

We cannot thank you enough for your hospitality & the events team you really did us proud.... especially Evee, Jorge & Dragos who even danced with us in the evening.

There was only one downfall.... we didnt like the pilllows & were too tired to ring down & ask for different ones but thats our fault haha.

Thank you so so much & we'll be back again.

Lots of love

Mr & Mrs Tott

We stayed here last year and couldn’t think of any better place to stay for Ascot again. The staff are very pleasant and welcoming. Whilst on our stay it was my husbands birthday and when returning to our room from a long day at Ascot there was a bottle of Prosecco on ice with a birthday card also red petals and chocolates. Thank you so much . Looking forward to next year x

We got Married here on the 27th of August 2017..It was the best day ever, and the weather was so hot. All of our guest enjoyed themselves.

Evee was our wedding coordinator and she was fantastic from the beginning to the end. All the staff are all very helpful on the day of our wedding, Paul was a brilliant master of ceremonies. Paul you made us all laughed.

All of our guest love the food compliments to the chefs The setting and surrounding of Frimley McDonald Hotel is beautiful and peaceful, I can highly recommend this place for weddings and parties.

Thank you very much Frimley Hall McDonald Hotel for giving us the best day that we will cherish for the rest of our lives.

We celebrated our amazing wedding on Friday at Frimley and can't thank the staff enough for such a beautiful day.

Evee was fantastic throughout the process ensuring every question I had however small was answered, the planning was very thorough and meant we felt completely in control throughout and leading up to our day. We are truly grateful for all the hardwork Evee put in to helping us with our special day.

We'd also like to give special thanks to Paul for co-ordinating our day and again his meticulous planning prior to ensure everything ran smoothly. He was very keen we got involved where we wanted to, to create our look and this made me completely relaxed the morning of the wedding as I knew how the room was being set up and had complete faith in Paul's competant hands.

Thank you to Dragos also as in planning the day before he gave us the idea to hang our photobooth frame up, this was brilliant amd really added to our evening reception. Thank you for your added touches and for co-ordinating a very complicated menu (due to multiple different childrens meals, vegetarian and other menu requests) that worked out perfectly on the day.

The food was amazing and everyone commented how lovely each aspect was so big thanks to the chef and his team.

We really cannot thank the events, catering, reception and all other staff involved in our big day enough, for making it so perfect! X

User

Love this place and can’t wait to stay again this weekend! We’ve been several times and each time gets better. The staff are superb, grounds are lovely, and food is beautiful!

Had a lovely nights stay on Saturday. Thank you for the added touches which made my birthday extra special.

Dinner was lovely, massage was amazing so relaxing. All I would say is the rooms could do with a little upgrading slightly more modern would be good but had a wonderful time thank you

Amazing stay last night ! Luxury spa weekend and from start to finish it was simply perfect. I felt like a queen on my birthday! Even had my own parking space which was such a lovely surprise. The wine and chocolates with the birthday card in our room was also a lovely touch. Keep up the great work you all do xxx

My wife and I got married at Frimley Hall on 10/03/2018 and it was a lovely day! I had spa treatments the day before which were just amazing! I’ve never felt so relaxed. The day went incredibly well and the staff catered to our every whim and last minute change of mind. The food was delicious and all of our guests had an amazing day.

There were a few hiccups though; one member of the top table wasn’t present for the speeches and although we should have noticed, so should the master of ceremonies and waited a while. The food we were served on the day was slightly different to the food we picked out (especially the presentation which was the most upsetting). The presentation of the food at the trial was amazing and didn’t quite feel that way on the day.

Other than that the day was amazing!

One particular thanks must go to Evee, our wedding coordinator. From start to finish she guided us through the whole process, sending us reminders, booking appointments and took care of everything we needed her to. When the morning of the wedding came around and I was nervously pacing in my room, someone told me Evee was downstairs preparing the venue and making sure everything was how was wanted it and it instantly calmed me. She is amazing at what she does and you can really tell she cares about her customers!

Lovely place with beautiful gardens. Service was fairly slow at the bar but we were in no rush. Staff were friendly and helpful and food was good quality. Used the spa which was adequate and we both enjoyed our treatment. I would go back again.

User

I always write as frank and honest review as possible. The hotel is beautiful, absolutely gorgeous with all original Victorian decor. We were upgraded to a suite which was gorgeous staff were amazing, kind and helpful and above all else we wanted a dog friendly hotel and we got it. Groucho was warmly greeted by staff and everyone was very happy to see him! Had a lovely stay here, the only downside was an issue with their kitchens so couldn't serve any good or room service but it happens.

User

I absolutely love Frimley Hall and this was our third visit, this time without our girls to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I had pre booked afternoon tea and our dinner a couple of months in advance so there was no stress.

We arrived at 1pm for tea, our room wasn’t ready but I wasn’t expecting it to be as check in was 2pm. Afternoon tea was lovely and cosy as the fire was burning.

Having checked in we went to our room. The hotel knew we were celebrating and although we’d booked a feature room they had put us in a suite. It was gorgeous with such character that must have been original. Also a bottle of bubbly, chocolates and a card were waiting for us to.

Breakfast was lovely & relaxed which we made the most of as we were child free. They now have a hot buffet breakfast as well as a cold buffet which I prefer as you get it when you want. The buttermilk pancakes were lovely to.

We had a quick stroll after breakfast & whilst waiting for my husband to get my coat one of the staff came over to chat. So nice & relaxed, when I asked about the history of the hotel he was able to tell me so much interesting information, he was very knowledgeable.

The only reason for not giving 5 stars was we felt the dinner menu lacked choice which we’ve not experienced before. Only 5 choices for starter, main & dessert plus I wanted the brûlée only to be told there weren’t any left. Having said that we have come home feeling like we have had such a lovely time, it was a real treat.

Some items of food in the breakfast were cold

Spa time treatments were a complete mix up!

3 phonecalls to try and trace it to be told i dont know where they gone!!

Good weekend spent with friends but poor service

User

Hotel looks lovely. Staff friendly. Bed was the most uncomfortable one I’ve ever tried to sleep in. Awake all night as bed squeaked when you blinked!! Mattress was squidgy, lumpy, too soft with a serious dip in the centre. Our friends room in the old part was dirty and smelt musty as their windows did not open. Our room was clean and very good, other than the dodgy bed! Breakfast was a bit of a nightmare. Staff rushed off feet, no one to sit you down, waited ages but eventually sat ourselves at a table, then got ‘told off’ for doing so! Ran out of eggs, sausages raw in the middle and bacon under cooked. Food not replenished quick enough, so missed eggs, potatoes etc as hungry and could not be bothered to wait. Tables not reset so had to pinch cutlery off other tables. Lunch sandwiches were mediocre with ‘off’ smoked salmon served in my friend’s sandwich. One particular female bar staff said, after waiting an age to be served, that she had a headache and couldn’t go any faster! We were only staying for one night and did not use the spa or have dinner, so can’t speak for that.

User

Stayed here last night with my sister. Service was awful. Rude staff. Dirty tables, had to clear own table outside after asking several times. Spa changing room filthy and smelt of the toilets. Dinner was nice. Poor service, warm prosecco! The bedroom air con didn’t work, had to have the windows open to be greeted by the smell of chip fat from the kitchen below. Breakfast wasn’t replenished, sausages undercooked twice after alerting staff. Wouldn’t recommend. What was supposed to be a relaxing break was pretty poor.

Just back from an extremely disappointing spa da which I had brought as a Christmas present for my mother. Full payment was requested at time of booking. This was paid for although usually we only pay a deposit/provide card details in case of a no show and pay on arrival.

On arrival the first impression was no one was too sure of what they were doing, there wasn’t really anywhere to fill out the forms we were asked to complete so we perched on one puff that was available. We were them taken into the changing rooms. The floor was very wet(and stayed that way the entire visit) so was rather slippery. We asked what time and where our afternoon tea would be and were asked why we hadn’t booked it at the desk, my answer was we didn’t have the opportunity. (As soon as we had handed our forms back we are ushered to the changing rooms).

We got changed and entered the pool/spa area. There was no jacuzzi and the sauna was closed for maintenance so that only left a steam room and a pool. I was surprised there was no jacuzzi and would have expected to be told on arrival that the sauna was broken. This was also the opinion of other spa guests.

A short while before our treatment we headed upstairs to the relaxation room where we had been advised we could help ourselves to tea and water. There were no cups. Back down to reception where we advised this. The receptionist said she knew there were no cups and they were waiting for them in a rather abrupt manner. At this point we had been here an hour as had others and there were 6 guests all waiting for cups. The attitude seemed to be that we were an inconvenience for needing cups. When the cups arrived a member of staff started putting them on a tray. A second member of staff said the cloth on the tray was dirty and she took it away. She must have already been in and seen this previously as she was not particularly near it when she made this comment. So not only did they not have cups they knew they had dirty cloths left in the room from the previous day!

Next came the massage which both myself and mother were impressed with. The therapists were very nice and the massage was very thorough.

Afterwards back to the relaxation room to finally have a drink. The sign advertised 6/7 different teas but only 3 appeared to have been put out. Again I was disappointed as the flavours that I like were not there.

We now had a short break before tea so we went and sat by the pool. Whilst here a member of the spa team come to tell me I had £22.00 to pay on my bill. I said I do not it was paid in full at time of booking. She asked if I had proof of payment. I said no i booked it with Lisa over the phone. I did not get sent any receipt, I did have an email trail confirming cost but was asked to call to pay the full amount, no receipt was offered. If booking anything please make sure you get full confirmation in writing.

We had booked in for a cream tea. So off we trotted outside across to the main hotel. We were advised as soon as we popped through the door we would be seated. This was not the case we had to wander down to the bar in our robes to find someone. We were seated and ordered breakfast tea. After a 20 minute or so wait our cream tea was brought out. We were expecting a standard tea as experienced at many other hotel spa days, of sandwiches, scones and cakes. We were presented with 2 scones each. When we questioned this we were told that cream teas were only scones nothing else, we could pay extra to upgrade! You can imagine how shocked we were when a short while later the next table who were also booked in for afternoon tea, had a chef bring out their cream tea as he called it and they had sandwiches and cakes and scones.

Also previously at other hotels we have had our tea topped up or fresh tea pots brought out, not here one cup of tea was your lot.

For a 5* hotel I was shocked that the shower gel was practically empty and no shampoo or conditioner at all.

This was an expensive day out and it was definitely not value for money and we will definitely not be retuning. I would not recommend this spa day to anyone. The only positive was the massage.

User

Attended my brother in laws wedding yesterday. Had given my complex dietary needs and they gave me gluten and onion which were on the list of foods that I must NOT have. When I complained it took so long for anyone to come back to me that everyone had eaten their deserts so what was the point. I had even been asked to write a suggested menu which was very simple. How they could not have given me cheese and tinned pineapple for pudding I'll never know! Put a real dampener on the day for me and would ask the company to NOT put on their menus that they can cater for all dietary needs when they clearly can't! Email sent yesterday to general manager but have not received a response

User

I have just sent a message to this hotel about the appalling and farcical service. I wait for a reply before I say any more here or on Trip Advisor....

User

Came here for an afternoon tea yesterday having previously been a member at the gym and was very disappointed!

Paid 25 for afternoon tea, service was awful and slow and we were told it was because it was busy. We were not offered any special tea or drinks just tea or coffee. A lot of the sandwiches were salmon and cream cheese which no one liked so when we asked for more sandwiches we were told we needed to pay an extra £5 per person so we ended up eating 2 finger sandwiches each for £25 to top this off when receiving our bill we were charged 12% service charge which was a joke.

I have just sent a message to this hotel about the appalling and farcical service. I wait for a reply before I say any more here or on Trip Advisor....

Love this place and can’t wait to stay again this weekend! We’ve been several times and each time gets better. The staff are superb, grounds are lovely, and food is beautiful!

User

Had a lovely nights stay on Saturday. Thank you for the added touches which made my birthday extra special.

Dinner was lovely, massage was amazing so relaxing. All I would say is the rooms could do with a little upgrading slightly more modern would be good but had a wonderful time thank you

User
