About Maidenhead Sea Cadets

This is the official page of Maidenhead Sea Cadets, a youth organisation providing nautical training to those aged 10-18.

Maidenhead Sea Cadets Description

As a Sea Cadet you will test your talents and stamina and develop new skills to give you a head start in life. You will also get the chance to make new friends and have fun.

You can join us as a cadet if you are between 10 and 18 years of age. Visit the main Sea Cadet site (http://www. sea-cadets.org) to see a full range of what's on offer.

At Maidenhead Unit you can take part in any of our water-bourne activities such as sailing, canoeing, kayaking, powerboating and rowing, all of which can lead to nationally recognised qualifications from the RYA, BCU and British Rowing. We also run the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme and our senior cadets can gain a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Public Services (equivalent to 4 GCSEs). Beyond just our normal training and parade nights we offer opportunities to participate in shooting, hiking, climbing, mountain biking, camping and flying. There are many specialist courses available in ropework, navigation, communication and information systems, engineering, physical training, first aid and catering /stewarding and so on, many of which take place on Royal Naval Bases where you are accommodated and victualled alongside the Royal Navy ratings.

Offshore training is also available where as a crew member on one of our sea going power vessels or on our Flag Ship Square rig sailing vessel T. S. Royalist, you can travel around the UK or even across to Europe. Further afield there is the chance of representing the Sea Cadet Corps on an International Exchange with our counterparts around the world. One of our cadets spent 10 days in Hong Kong and met cadets from all around the globe.

The opportunities are immense and if you want to do something we will do everything we can to find a course for you.

For our younger members we have a Juniors section who have their own training programme that includes modules on water-bourne, outdoor and community activities.

If you are interested in joining or want to know more please drop us an email or contact us on our website!
