Are you planning on taking your pet on holiday with you this year? We want to give you some information on what you will need to do if you want to take your fur babies on holiday!
- If we have a no deal and you want to go abroad after 22nd May, your pet passport will not be valid. - You will need to get an Animal Health Certificate, which is valid for you to leave the UK within 10 days after it is issued. This will be valid to travel in Europe and back to the UK for 4 months.... - If you are planning more than one trip away then you will need a new certificate for every time you go.
If you have any questions or queries please don't hesitate to contact us by email or telephone:

Congratulations to our Puppy Party Graduates! These 6 puppies and their families attended our Thursday night Parties for 6 weeks. They all did extremely well and earned themselves a gorgeous rosette.
If you would like to attend our Puppy Party all you need to do is book over the phone or at the practice! Your little one can attend one week after their second vaccination and ideally they should be younger than 16 weeks.
Please call us for any more information :)

On the 14th April, Mandy will be walking the Brighton Marathon. Although you may think walking is the easier option, it is going to take roughly 8-10 hours to complete!! She will be walking for St Catherine's Hospice in memory of Sarah Vallom, who was an integral part of the Seers Croft history.
If anyone would be kind enough to sponsor Mandy we would all be so grateful, the link for her Just Giving page is below:

*** A recent Success Story *** Jessie the Jack Russell came into us after she chased a mouse into a metal sink and ended up slitting her neck badly! This tough little dog managed to make a full recovery after 10 days, and undergoing 2 hours of reconstructive surgery. Well done to Frank (the vet) and Jessie!

**Found Cat** This lovely Black and White female cat was found on Forest road between the village hall and the Dragon Pub in Colgate. She unfortunately had been hit by a car, but she is with us under treatment at the moment. She is also microchipped but the details are not correct and we are unable to trace the owner. If she is your cat, or you know her owner, please contact the surgery on 01293 851122. She has a white bib, two white long socks on her hind legs and two little front white paws.

Dear All of Our Seers Croft Clients
As you may have heard, Medivet has recently bought into Seers Croft and I am writing to you to introduce them to you and to inform you of some changes.
I am pleased to say that Dan Andrews will remain on as a partner, while I will remain on as a consultant for 3 days per week. All of the other veterinary surgeons, nurses and support staff will remain.
... Seers Croft is a practice that has enjoyed an excellent reputation and I am certain Medivet intends to continue to deliver the high standard of care that we have tried to deliver for the past 25 years. We have been assured that it will be run in a very similar style to that which currently exists and based largely on the personal relationships you have enjoyed with all the staff.
In recent years it has become challenging to find veterinary surgeons that are competent to treat both small and large animals. Sadly this has become an increasingly common scenario across the profession and we have found that it is not possible to recruit enough vets to continue to undertake farm animal work.
Furthermore, in October, two of our mixed animal vets will be taking maternity leave and this means that we will not be left with enough vets to continue to provide a sustainable out of hours emergency service for large animals.
It is therefore, with great regret, that Medivet has decided to end Equine and Farm animal veterinary services at Seers Croft with effect from 1st November 2017.
However, I am pleased to say that Alastair MacVicar, of the Anvill Veterinary Surgery has kindly agreed to take on any of our Equine and Farm animal clients who choose to register with him. Anvil is an, equine and farm practice that offers a very personal service and one that runs in a very similar manner to Seers Croft. Like myself Alistair enjoys working on farms and smallholdings, as well as with horses. I have arranged to work with Alistair on an occasional basis and so I can continue to treat patients who register with him, on a prearranged basis.
Medivet have assured me that Seers Croft will continue to treat all companion and exotic animals. This includes “large” exotic animals and our zoo clients are not affected by this change.
I would like to take this opportunity of thanking you for your business, loyalty and friendship over the years and I hope to continue to see most of you at the surgery with your small and exotic animals.
Yours sincerely
Rob Reynolds

** Alabama Rot (CRGV) update **

It is with extreme sadness we are writing this post, to let you know that our fantastic friend and colleage Sarah passed away on Monday afternoon. Sarah had been battling cancer since the beginning of the year showing such bravery and courage even with a smile every day and always ready to listen. Sarah has worked at Seers Croft from the very beginning, 30 years ago! Her contribution and dedication to the surgery was remarkable. Sarah will be very sadly missed. She had a larger than life personality, often entertaining us with her stories.

We have been with Seers Croft for many years now, and we wouldn't even consider going elsewhere.

Recently my dog (Sammy) had to have quite a big operation on his leg, meaning he had to stay in for a number of days. Everyone at Seers Croft were so loving, caring and compassionate. They looked after him like he was their own pet and his vet even took the time on his days off to call and ask how Sammy was recovering.

We were allowed to visit Sammy day or night whilst he was in there and they always made sure we were kept up to date on his progress.

We cannot rate Seers Croft Vets highly enough. We went through what felt like hell when both our dogs got very sick with auto immune conditions over the last 18 months. We nearly lost one of them but with the determination, expertise and sheer care of Dan in particular, she turned a corner and is still with us today and doing great at the moment. Our other girl was very poorly too but Laura did an excellent job and diagnosed her quickly with Addison's disease, which they've now brought under control. Jeremy was also a rock in the early days, where he'd patiently take my regular nightly calls filled with anxiety and questions. Everyone at Seers Croft are amazing though, incl. the other vets, reception staff and nurses - we feel completely cared for at all times and they strike the perfect balance between incredible expertise, realism and empathy - thank you so, so much!!!

User

The staff at this surgery are fantastic. Celine, in particular, is an amazing vet. She did all she could to save our gorgeous rabbit but in the end there was nothing more she could do and she helped us put him to sleep in a calm and loving way. Thank you Celine and thank you for all your amazing efforts! Thank you also to all the staff who helped care for Jasper when he was with you and also to to all the reception staff who were all so kind! If you need a caring vets practice and you need vets who will do all they can for your pet use Seers Croft!

User

The service and compassion we received when we took our Miniature Schnauzer into see the emergency vet and afterwards when our lovely little dog needed overnight care for two nights, it was thought that she had picked up herbicide on her paws when she was playing on a football field that had been treated. Everyone at Seers Croft was helpful and kind. Thankfully our little princess recovered fully, so thanks to everyone at Seers Croft.

User

Thank you so much for saving our 15 week old Scottie pup Dougall. We know it is only your care and dedication that he is back home tormenting us and his step sister Maisie with his pin needle teeth and cheeky character. We are so grateful and Dougall says Arroo. Looking forward to puppy class on Thursday with the fantastic Mandy and Laura x x

User

Thank you for looking after Theo with special thanks to Hedley and Dawn who were so kind :-) Theo has taken ownership of the house again and is so much better than he was. Purrs all round!

User

Thank you for looking after Monty ( Moysen) today. Back home chattering away, had a nice big drink, and in his comfortable place resting after his big day. Thanks again for everything that you did.

If you are looking for vets you can't do better :)

Seers croft are excellent, with a special mention to Dan as he's the only Vet I've ever seen who's been able to sort out an on going issue my poor old Cat has had for most of his life. You really feel like they care about your pets, thank you Seers Croft!

User

Seers croft are by far the best avian vets in Sussex and have tended to mine in two emergency situations with the perfect mixture of professionalism and compassion. They are extremely knowledgable and have been wonderful with my parrots and my dogs. I would highly recommend them for whatever type of pet you have.

User

New Year's Day our cat become very ill, we got a emergency appointment right away, the vet was very helpful, understanding and nice, after just 2 hours he told us everything that he found out, in the end we had to come to a really hard, upsetting decision that she was to poorly to carry on, they where there every step of the way from beginning to end, gave us time in a room to say goodbye also, We are very thankful to the wonderful friendly staff at seers croft,

Many thanks

St Cyrien-child family

I love this surgery- my obnoxious, boisterous and noisy staffie Lucy is always welcomed here, which I haven't found at other places which seem to have a problem with the breed. And no one takes offence if she refuses to eat her treat until no one is looking! Always great advice and lovely service. You get the feeling they care about your pets almost as much as you do. Top marks from me, top barks from Lucy!! (Sorry about the pun). :)

User

I have always been impressed with everyone I've dealt with at Seers but was especially grateful to Rob who came up to Tilgate today where I'd found a baby deer in distress whilst out walking the dog. The deer sadly had to be put to sleep but I was so grateful that Rob could end its suffering.

User

I have 3 mature dogs and this practice is the best. They have a genuine care and empathy with their patients and the worried owners. I am sure they saved the life off one off my boys after toxic poisoning, and my arthritic boy is still running around having fun. This week was my other dogs turn and am so grateful to them for the care he recieved as well as myself!!!

Well Done and thankyou to all at seers croft.

User

Can not fault this amazing Place. I take my Bunny here for regular vaccinations and check ups. We also needed emergency help out of hours it was 1030 at night and they were brilliant my poor Bunny had to be kept in for about 2 to 3 days and we were informed every step of the way as to how much it was all going to cost and we found it very reasonable plus when your pet is a big part of your family money is no object and you should be prepared for such situations. I would totally recommend seers croft all the staff are polite, caring and helpful I wouldn't go anywhere else.

User

Back in June 2015, I had to rush my cockatiel to Seers Croft, he was a very poorly boy, but after speaking to the staff about tests, care plans and operations, I left the surgery knowing Casper was in the best care, in my heart knew I wasn't going to see Casper again but throughout everything that happened, the staff were flawless; they were professional, caring, informative and patient. I cannot thank the staff enough for their help. Not only did they do everything they could for Casper but they also checked my other bird and done some tests for my piece of mind.

User

Amazing vets who looked after my dog on numerous occasions throughout his almost 17 years. Sadly he was put to sleep last weekend and the vet (Leanne) was incredible- so kind and compassionate in such a difficult time for my family. Thank you xxx

User

A massive thank you to Claudia for looking after my Rodney (emu) so well! He's back on his feet and with his girls! I'm so relieved to see him back to his normal lovely self x

User
