We went for a family lunch today and it was faultless. Excellent food, great service, good value - cannot wait for another reason to book and enjoy another meal.

We have popped in for a late lunch today and was not expecting anything else what we normally would from a restaurant. I couldn t be more wrong! The food was absolutely delicious! Had probably the best chicken and stake for a long time. Thank you and could not recommend it more! Definitely will be back! Thank you �����

Visited on Saturday afternoon about 3pm. Our 1st time visiting a Miller & Carter and found the food to be excellent and very good value with a good choice. Had the January special menu that offered a good choice for very reasonable money. Great ambiance about the place. Read a few of the reviews about the place before writing this and the only thing I could relate to was the front of house chap seemed a bit “off”but the other staff we’re really polite and friendly. Look forward to making M & C a future venue for meals out.

Myself and my husband have been here several times either on our own or with other family members and can honestly say that we have never had a bad meal.

The steaks are large and tasty and every other dish ordered was delicious!

Will definitely be back.

The restaurant is very tastefully decorated and very comfortable.

The staff were very welcoming and our waitress was very attentive and professional. She was able to advise me on the different steaks and help me decide which to have.

My husband and both had the garlic prawns for starter and they were delicious.

We both chose a fillet steak for our main course and they were cooked exactly to our requirements. They were so tender and succulent. Excellent!

I chose a mushroom and black garlic sauce and it complimented the steak beautifully.

Managed to squeeze in a sweet and coffee, and these too were lovely.

The food was presented beautifully and the portions were just right.

This was our first visit to Miller & Carter. I looked up recommendations for the best steakhouse in Hertfordshire and this came up, so we thought we'd try it. I'm glad we did, we weren't disappointed!

We had a lovely evening and would definitely recommend it to others.

My first experience at Miller and Carter ..... the food was amazing, best steak I have had, and it wasn’t too expensive. The service was good, the waiter was very sweet and attentive, it was busy in there and we did have to wait a while to order our food, and for the drinks to arrive. But I will definitely be going back again, and I can’t wait!

Manager needs some customer training. He led us to our table after waiting for 10 minutes. No eye contact. No apology. Muttered something as he walked away. Not sure if he said about the carvery, house wine or if we had green faces!. Waiter (jordan) perfect.... couldn't do enough for you. OH starters was lovely. I think I got the remnants from the bag of calamari but still tasty . We had steak. 'Lettuce wedge' .... I could have eaten a bowl on its own... fresh and crisp with a gorgeous dressing. Onion bread was delicious too. Steak cooked perfectly. Word of warning though. Taste before you season. I automatically added salt and was no need. Could do with a few more options on the menu though .

I had to clear a table before we could sit down even though there were only a few other diners in that part of the garden. I would say that that part of the garden had not had the tables cleaned since the first customers of the lunch service. Smoking guests in the no smoking area also didn't make a nice experience.



Food was nice I had a bistro rump blue which was perfectly cooked, onion loaf was also really nice but our lettuce wedge with garlic dressing was missing. In its place were a few side salad leafs (about 4 small leafs) with no dressing. Looked around and other tables had the same so obviously run out, would've been nice to have been informed at the time of ordering as we would have liked to maybe order a side. We decided to leave before ordering a final course. Not a terrible experience but not what I expected and it felt more like a Nando's experience than a nice steak meal out which is disappointing �

The whole experience from start to finish was very disappointing, light fittings hanging from the ceiling multiple light bulbs not working dirty glasses blunt and dirty steak knives and possibly the worst sirloin steak ever it was full of frankly inedible as for the service it was very slow on the plus side the rib eye and fillet were very nice and the manager did give us a £15 discount on the bill. We have been to multiple miller and carter restaurants and have always been very happy with the whole experience do my advice would be keep going to this chain just not wheathampsted

Went here last night, we ordered our meals, my husband ordered ribeye medium rare, this came out medium to well, so we sent back to the kitchen, the waitress came out and asked if we wanted them to cook a fresh steak, so my husband said yes please, I have already received my steak which was ok, the waitress told my husband it would be a couple of minutes but by the time it came back out again I had finished mine, my husband cut into it and again it was medium to well ( I believe it was the same steak) the waitress apologised came back and asked if we wanted dessert no offer of a meal for my husband, this is the 2nd time this happened but the first time we went the steak was still mooing, this is a steak restaurant, how can it take this many attempts to cook a steak? We went here for an early valentine, if you do go avoid the T-bone steak

Visited for our anniversary tonight. Ordered medium rare and the steak was very rare, the onion loaf was black and extremely over cooked. The manager took it away to replace in which returned with no apology and now a completely undercooked onion loaf. The time they took to replace my meal my husband had finished. The wall beside us was filthy dirty and food splattered up it. As a regular visitor to Miller and carter this was a very disappointing experience and will definitely not return!

I came at the weekend with my partner -

It was the first time in two months we have been without children and we were really looking forward to date night! The food was nice but, I am coeliac and gluten free and they served me a dessert that wasn’t gluten free - my partner even said ‘are you sure that’s gluten free and he said yes’ we tucked in and minutes later the server and waiter came rushing over and it wasn’t gluten free - they took my details and the manager gave me his card - I was trying to make myself bring up the food in the loo and my parter paid but they gave us no discount on the meal just a free desert and coffee - which they took from me anyway because I couldn’t eat it. I spent the entire night being very sick - not the date night we had planned and episodes like that mean extra hospital appointments and feeling ‘not right’ for days. I called to tell them but the manager wasn’t available he was going to call me and still heard nothing - hopefully a Facebook message will help! We should have at least had a discount or vouchers - if this was a nut allergy it would be a whole other story - really such a shame

I think I got the remnants from the bag of calamari but still tasty . We had steak. 'Lettuce wedge' .... I could have eaten a bowl on its own... fresh and crisp with a gorgeous dressing. Onion bread was delicious too. Steak cooked perfectly. Word of warning though. Taste before you season. I automatically added salt and was no need. Could do with a few more options on the menu though .

First time visiting this chain of restaurant and had been told great things. Expectation was perhaps a little higher than it should've been. Bank holiday Monday late lunch and outside area was full of dirty plates, glasses etc. Few flies hanging around the dirty dishes which kept finding their way to our table. I had to clear a table before we could sit down even though there were only a few other diners in that part of the garden. I would say that that part of the garden had not had the tables cleaned since the first customers of the lunch service. Smoking guests in the no smoking area also didn't make a nice experience.



Food was nice I had a bistro rump blue which was perfectly cooked, onion loaf was also really nice but our lettuce wedge with garlic dressing was missing. In its place were a few side salad leafs (about 4 small leafs) with no dressing. Looked around and other tables had the same so obviously run out, would've been nice to have been informed at the time of ordering as we would have liked to maybe order a side. We decided to leave before ordering a final course. Not a terrible experience but not what I expected and it felt more like a Nando's experience than a nice steak meal out which is disappointing �

The whole experience from start to finish was very disappointing, light fittings hanging from the ceiling multiple light bulbs not working dirty glasses blunt and dirty steak knives and possibly the worst sirloin steak ever it was full of frankly inedible as for the service it was very slow on the plus side the rib eye and fillet were very nice and the manager did give us a £15 discount on the bill. We have been to multiple miller and carter restaurants and have always been very happy with the whole experience do my advice would be keep going to this chain just not wheathampsted

Went here last night, we ordered our meals, my husband ordered ribeye medium rare, this came out medium to well, so we sent back to the kitchen, the waitress came out and asked if we wanted them to cook a fresh steak, so my husband said yes please, I have already received my steak which was ok, the waitress told my husband it would be a couple of minutes but by the time it came back out again I had finished mine, my husband cut into it and again it was medium to well ( I believe it was the same steak) the waitress apologised came back and asked if we wanted dessert no offer of a meal for my husband, this is the 2nd time this happened but the first time we went the steak was still mooing, this is a steak restaurant, how can it take this many attempts to cook a steak? We went here for an early valentine, if you do go avoid the T-bone steak

Visited for our anniversary tonight. Ordered medium rare and the steak was very rare, the onion loaf was black and extremely over cooked. The manager took it away to replace in which returned with no apology and now a completely undercooked onion loaf. The time they took to replace my meal my husband had finished. The wall beside us was filthy dirty and food splattered up it. As a regular visitor to Miller and carter this was a very disappointing experience and will definitely not return!

I came at the weekend with my partner -

It was the first time in two months we have been without children and we were really looking forward to date night! The food was nice but, I am coeliac and gluten free and they served me a dessert that wasn’t gluten free - my partner even said ‘are you sure that’s gluten free and he said yes’ we tucked in and minutes later the server and waiter came rushing over and it wasn’t gluten free - they took my details and the manager gave me his card - I was trying to make myself bring up the food in the loo and my parter paid but they gave us no discount on the meal just a free desert and coffee - which they took from me anyway because I couldn’t eat it. I spent the entire night being very sick - not the date night we had planned and episodes like that mean extra hospital appointments and feeling ‘not right’ for days. I called to tell them but the manager wasn’t available he was going to call me and still heard nothing - hopefully a Facebook message will help! We should have at least had a discount or vouchers - if this was a nut allergy it would be a whole other story - really such a shame
