A huge congratulations to our incredible viti and vini teams.

A nice piece from Fiona Beckett in The Guardian on the joys of the incredibly underrated Hunter Valley, featuring a recommendation of the Brokenwood Wines sem-sational ILR Reserve Semillon 2009 "that is wonderful now, but would drink well for another seven to eight years, provided you could keep your hands off it."

‘What makes the Barossa special is the fact there’s a tradition of living off the land, and those traditions have been carried on by a lot of people here today. Growing grapes, making your own food, smoking your own meats has gone hand in hand with the tradition of winemaking. Preserving that tradition is so important.’
A brilliant interview of Rockford Winemaker Ben Radford which is well worth a read. https://www.wineaustralia.com/…/stor… /march-2017/ben-radford

A magnificent 0.5 acre plot of incredibly gnarly Shiraz in the Bethany commune of the Barossa. Planted in the early 1880s and very much still thriving to this day. Incredible.

A very special evening yesterday saw Jim Barry Wines very own Olivia Barry present a sneak preview of the eagerly anticipated Assyrtiko to the team. Thoroughly enjoyed with delicious food at (where else but) The Greek Larder King's Cross.

Happy #GrenacheDay! In honour of this unsung hero, here are a few photos of the truly incredible Yalumba Tri-Centenary Block, planted in 1889.
“These are now big, sprawling bush vines, many of which have fallen over, cracked apart in the crown and taken root again. But what we now have is 2 ½ acres of just over 800 very individual bush vines. This results in an amazingly individual wine, that really does show vintage and site from year to year.” Kevin Glastonbury, Barossa R...ed Winemaker at Yalumba.
Sarah Ahmed aka The Wine Detective had this to say about the 2011 vintage:
"Yalumba’s Tricentenary Grenache is sourced from the Graetz vineyard, which was acquired quite recently. The Grenache was planted 1889 on deep sandy loam with red-brown clay; average yield 3-4t/acres. The wine is a deeper, darker hue than The Absconder with a jubey sweet edge and richer, rounder mid-palate of raspberry and plum (even in 2011). Campari, Imperial Leather/incense spice and orange peel notes add lift and layer. With lingering, spicy intensity and savoury, textural tannins, it put me in mind of fine Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The wine remained on skins for 35 days post-fermentation and was aged for 7 months in seasoned French oak hogshead. Drinking well now but will benefit from air and bottle age to really strut its stuff."

"They're old because they're good, not good because they're old" A brilliant look at Old Vine Grenache featuring Yalumba Proprietor Robert Hill-Smith and Barossa Red Winemaker Kevin 'KG' Glastonbury - well worth a watch before #GrenacheDay on Friday.

A brilliant watch and insight into the amazing team at Two Paddocks.
Film Noir: Actor Sam Neill has immersed himself in a second career, growing grapes and making wine in Central Otago. He believes his pinot noir will create a longer-lasting legacy than his films.

We were delighted to work with the amazing WOMAD Festival this year and sponsor the "Taste the World" stage with Yalumba.
This sponsorship follows on from WOMADelaide, which Yalumba has been a part of since 2011.
This year was our first at the legendary WOMAD UK held at Charlton Park from 28th July - 1 August 2016. ... We sponsored the Yalumba Taste the World stage which is truly unique to WOMAD and an integral part of the festival experience; a fusion of food and music where musicians performing at the festival are given the opportunity to cook up a storm and introduce audiences to dishes from their own countries, entwined with fascinating insights into their culture, musical interludes and intimate personal anecdotes.
We also offered wine tasting sessions and talks to compliment the incredible food on offer to festival goers, offering an insight into the craft of sustainable winemaking at Yalumba and creating wines that are 100% vegan and vegetarian friendly,
This year saw over 35,000 people head to the festival and we couldn't have been happier with how everything went.
We're already counting down the days until 2017!

We are delighted to announce a couple of fantastic accolades at The Mamba Awards held last night at The Harrow at Little Bedwyn. Negociants UK was awarded "Best Merchant" and Dalrymple Vineyards Pinot Noir Awarded "Best Pinot Noir".
These awards are extra-special as they have come from a mixture of top wine merchants, buyers, journalists and leaders in the wine industry. Over 60 Australian Chardonnays and 30 Pinot Noirs were tasted with each judge submitting their top 3 whit...es and reds and the winners are announced that same day.
The merchant award goes to the company with the most wines listed in the all of the judges top 3, so we are absolutely thrilled to have won this!
To say we are very proud of our stellar portfolio would certainly be an understatement. Huge congratulations to all viti and vini teams!

We are absolutely delighted to announce that we will distribute Foley Family Wines including the wonderful Martinborough Vineyard and Grove Mill with immediate effect.
Mark Turnbull, CEO of Foley Family Wines NZ said, "I am pleased to announce that, effective immediately, Negociants UK has been appointed to distribute the following wine brands in the United Kingdom: Martinborough Vineyard, Grove Mill and Frog Haven. Other than some UK retail distribution for Martinborough Vi...neyard, this represents completely new routes to market for these premium brands. To have such a respected organisation as Negociants UK choosing to distribute our brands is exciting from a growth perspective but also testament to the quality of our wine portfolio”. “Martinborough Vineyard and Grove Mill are both going from strength to strength and having Alastair Maling MW at the helm will ensure their continued success.
