Newlands Chapel Description

This privately owned medieval chapel is a Grade II* listed building nestled within the tiny hamlet of Newlands. Newlands is situated deep in the countryside in the picturesque village of Charing and was formerly part of the Saxon ‘Calehill One Hundred’ - the chapel is Charing’s oldest building. Steeped in history it was once owned by noble gentry; the ornate masonry work being evidence of their wealth and stature. Visitors are welcome with prior arrangement as the chapel is situated within private gardens. Contact should be made prior to visiting please.

Hazel and Nick - 23rd May 2015
Hazel and Nick's relaxed personalities and beaming smiles quickly flowed through to their guests, the registrars and to us which made the whole celebration an absolute delight. Every time I look at these lovely photos of Hazel they make me smile :-) The flower girls and bridesmaids were adorable and it was a pleasure to meet their relatives from abroad who were so interested in the history of the Chapel and Oasts. The weather was perfect for a ...quick stroll in the 'Enchanted Woods' - a beautiful backdrop for more lovely photos; a walk managed in those stunning red high-heels! Thank you to Hazel, Nick and Lemonade Photos for allowing us to share your photos. We wish you both the very best for your future together.

Robert and Michelle - 25th July 2015
Another glorious day for Robert and Michelle with wall to wall sunshine.
A beautiful gown for a beautiful bride; the bouquet and button holes with perfectly chosen flowers and grasses.
... Post Ceremony Robert and Michelle managed to steal a few minutes for some gorgeous shots inside the Chapel whilst guests were on their way to the Reception venue. Capturing moments like these is unrepeatable and White Stag Photography certainly succeeded in emphasising just how special they are.

A beautiful wedding on a beautiful day!
Young Ben carried out his duties as Best Man superbly. Lorraine organised an amazing array of goodies (for both children and adults) on a country fayre table covered in bunting which looked delightful in the Chapel gardens.
... Photographer Jonathon Lockwood of Ahuvi Photography managed to take a fabulous shot of the bridal party and guests from a great height!
Thank you James and Lorraine for sharing your photos it was an absolute pleasure hosting your wedding ceremony.

Phil and Julie Sloman: 16th May 2015
One of the pleasures I have is watching the reactions of people when they come to view the chapel and I shall never forget Julie's when she first walked through the doors. It was such a pleasure to host this ceremony and an absolute joy to meet their young son Elliot who was eager to learn the Chapel's history. The theme of 'Forget-Me-Nots' was so delicately beautiful as well as meaningful and who would have thought an excerpt from Winnie ...the Pooh, which was perfectly read by Elliot, would be so apt:
"If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you". Piglet edged up to Pooh from behind "Pooh?" he whispered, "yes, Piglet?" "Nothing", said Piglet, taking Pooh's hand, "I Just wanted to be sure of you". "We'll be friends forever, won't we Pooh?" asked Piglet, "Even Longer", Pooh answered. "If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together....there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart....I'll always be with you."
Needless to say, tissues were supplied!

A Valentine's Day Ceremony: Virginia and James braved the elements and these stunning photographs taken by Katy Lunsford prove that you don't need the sunshine, or indeed the warmth, in order to have a beautiful wedding. Thank you for sharing :-)
