About Ocean Polymers
Ocean Polymers has developed a solution to collect and process plastic waste from the World's seas and oceans.

One question that was raised in our talk at St Georgeβs, Windsor Castle School was around how long things take to βgo awayβ π€ - The issue is there is no βawayβ, things have to go somewhere and we think this visual is great for people of all ages to really see the impact our day to day items have on our planet. ππππ»ππ₯€β #bepartofthesolution #saveourseas #oceantribe #rubbish #decompose #changeyourways #sustainableliving #theoceanpolymersproject
If you are an ocean lover you may have enjoyed (or dreamt about enjoying) some amazing surf and diving in the pristine waters surrounding the Maldives Atolls ππ»ππΌββοΈ π²π» -
This Atoll is not one you may have heard of or seen. Thilafushi is the Maldives waste management solution. Where mixed waste and plastics rot and burn and emit a thick toxic sludge into the surrounding watersπ₯€π₯π -
With over 1million tourists visiting a year, these beautiful Atolls simply do not have the infr...astructure or waste management policies to keep up with the average holiday makers 3.5kgs (per person) of rubbish they produce a day and so Thilafushi has been on fire for over 20 years in a bid to handle this wasteπ€¦πΌββοΈπ’ -
Examples like this, where regions have limited infrastructure, technology and resources are exactly why we created OP1. By her very design, she is a mobile solution, that can support and process waste in areas such as this that need our help and support. β΄πππ»π #bepartofthesolution #oceantribe #passonplastic #reducereuserecycle #blueplanet #maldives @maldives

Monday life hacks π₯€β -
It is suggested that most human habits can be broken if one can go 30 days without them and that the easiest way to break a habit is to replace it with a new one π€ -
... That in mind, here are some simple life hacks on how to trade single use plastic out of your life. -
Try it for 30 days and we are sure it will stick; just like plastic and waste currently does in our ocean π₯€βππππ» #plasticfree #lifehacks #passonplastic #blueplanet #vitaminsea #bepartofthesolution #bethechange

Look at those smiles ; who doesnβt love learning about our incredible oceans πππ»π -
One element of the Ocean Polymers project focuses on the sharing of knowledge and raising awareness of the problem, in a bid to help people understand their part and how we are all connected to the Ocean. -
... Last week Exec Director, Project and Operations Manager Heather, had the honour of sharing thoughts and ideas on plastic waste in the ocean with the unique audience at St. Georgeβs School, Windsor Castle. You can read the full article in the Royal Borough Observer https://www.windsorobserver.co.uk/β¦/176 24060.caring-schoolβ¦/ π ππππ»ππ» -
The pupils asked some very pertinent questions, demonstrating a sound understanding of environmental issues and their keenness for solutions to be found. Their excitement at seeing OP1 and interest in our mission was quite overwhelming ππ₯€βππ» #nextgenerationofgreen #oceantribe #bepartofthesolution #saveourseas #shareknowledge #futurestars #teamwork #bigbluemovement #royalborough

As if that statistic isnβt shocking enough, if you consider it alongside the fact 17million barrels of oil per year are used to make the bottles and that it takes twice as much water than what is in the bottle to actually make it, surely the conclusion is that they make no sense. π₯€β -
Of the 91% that are not recycled, those that make it landfill will sit in our earth for a minimum of 450 years, while those that make it to our oceans breakdown and release devastating chemicals... and micro plastics into this delicate ecosystemπ€¦πΌββοΈπ₯€πβ -
Are we not an innovative, inspired, educated race of beings with technology and knowledge at our fingertips? So why are we still producing, buying and mismanaging these unnecessary evil creations ? π€ππππ» #reducereuserecycle #passonoplastic #bepartofthesolution #vitaminsea #oceantribe #microplastics

What an interesting read the UKβs Climate Change Report makes ππ€ -
Reducing the UKβs greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050 is apparently βnecessary, affordable and desirableβ. Setting the target will be their easy bit we imagine. -
... The element that confuses us the most is regarding electric cars and electrified heating. If they imagine diesel and petrol vehicles and gas central heating to be a distant memory, as they are superseded by electric options, where are the thinking electricity comes from? β‘οΈπ€ -
Currently the production of electricity ranks number 1 on the top 10 climate change villains list at 30% , where as transportation (current methods) is only at 14%. π€·πΌββοΈπ€·π»ββοΈ -
We love their plan to plant more π²s as they aim to convert a fifth of all farmland to tree planting. But where are all the new crops going for the planned increase in plant based diets in light of the 20% reduction in animal consumption ?π π π₯ -
We are confused but one thing that we are not confused about is our project and technology, now more than ever, being the sustainable solution to the current mess to ensure we preserve our planet for future generations to enjoy - get on boardππππ»π #climatechange #bepartofthesolution #saveourseas #blueplanet #passonoplastic #oceantribe

Whilst @qantas impressed us earlier this month with their commitment to replace single use items with sustainable alternatives by the end of next year @etihadairways have taken it to the next level and on 22nd April (Earth Day in mind) were the first major airline to make a long haul flight with no single use plastic on board π₯€βππ»ππ»ππ» -
They utilised blankets made from recycled plastic bottles and edible wafer coffee cups. Where suitable replacements could not be sourced, th...e items were not loaded. In this exercise they have discovered they can remove 27million single use plastic lids alone. -
Whether critics are right and this is a publicity stunt, the commitment, intention and acknowledgment to the problem, is the first step in our book; and for that we give them the ππ» #earthday #passonplastic #bethechange #plasticfreeflight #etihadairways #vitaminsea #bepartofthesolution #oceantribe

In the year since the ban on plastic exports to China, the UK has been offloading itβs waste to nations with questionable records on marine pollution π₯€β - Exports to Malaysia trebled, exports to Vietnam increased by 50% whilst the amount to Thailand shot up fifty-fold π₯€βοΈπ€¦πΌββοΈ - All three countries are in the top 10 for quantities of plastic waste entering the ocean, with Vietnam the highest placed of the three.... - Though the UK government has been vocal regarding measures to reduce plastic usage, most of the waste circulating in the worldβs ocean originates in developing countries with less effective waste management infrastructure which surely raises the question; why do we think itβs acceptable to pass our plastic waste to others to deal with? ππππ» #saveourseas #bigbluemovement #oceantribe #passonplastic #plasticfreeliving #blueplanet #bepartofthesolution

The Ocean Polymers project gives corporations and governments the technology to make a simple step towards their own sustainable solution for, currently mistreated, waste and plastic.β»οΈ -
... Itβs simple : 1. large corporation creates products and waste, many of which are single use 2. Product lives its short life (unfortunately that is the mass reality) 3. Product and waste regenerated through the OP system into clean energy to fuel the corporations business -

Anyone else confused with what goes in what bin? What you can recycle, what you canβt? What to compost, how to compost? and what to do with new βbiodegradableβ single use items ?π€·πΌββοΈπ€ FYI Vegware/ biodegradable single use items decompose anaerobically producing methane making it much more βdamagingβ than a regular coffee cup if it ends up in general waste and thus land fill. π€¦πΌββοΈ They are not compostable in a home compost / food bin but only in commercial facilities, which... very few Councils offer ....so where do we throw them π€·πΌββοΈ - Sometimes even with best intentions, solutions to existing problems create new ones. πππ» - The USP of the OP system is that it deals with all waste, negating the need for complex separation processes and giving it a second life as a valuable resource and commodity. - Together we can can change our habits and be part of the solution π₯€βπππ #innovation #wastetoenergy #revalue #oceanconservation #cleanourocean #bepartofthesolution #bigbluemovement #passonplastic
