As we approach the first weekend of 2019, we want to know who's taking part in #DryJanuary?

User

Went to an Adele and Ed Sheeran tribute night here and stayed over night. Was seated near the stage but would say that the railings round the stage people should not be allowed to stand at when the acts are on otherwise people sitting down can't see them. The food was lovely and presented lovely. The rooms are lovely, but would say very warm once in them so had to have the windows open and air conditioning unit on all the time. Only two minor things but loved it, good atmosphere and well looked after, will be booking up again.

User

We were a party of 32 staying at the hotel as we attended a Adele tribute night. The experience was made all the better by the events team especially Sasha as she worked with me to organise seating and tables. Nothing was too much trouble . The food was excellent it was hot and very tasty. Shame about the sound of the Tribute act we couldn’t hear what she was singing as the sound was terrible , people were complaining but nothing could be done as the sound guy said that’s how the tribute artist wanted it ,such a shame . The disco after was brilliant.; Rooms were lovely but investing in air conditioning would be nice . Still we all said we would stay again but definitely not for that particular Adele act.

User

We had the pleasure of staying at Old Thorns last weekend, and can not recommend it highly enough. We work at this venue regularly to film weddings, which are always expertly ran making the couples day go extremely smoothly. This is the first time that we attended as guests, and saw the venue from the other side, and my god it was amazing. The leisure suite is great and the food is second to none, what a roast! We can not wait until we get the chance to stay at this fantastic hotel again. Thank you to all the staff, you are a great bunch :)

User

We had a family wedding on Friday 17th we stayed in the 3 bedroom penthouse suite which were amazing we found all the staff to be very friendly especially Diane one of the managers who helped us with our very elderly parents by picking them up in the golf cart food she was very helpful nothing was 2 much trouble especially late at night making sure my parents Dident walk to our apartment my only criticism was the food in the sports bar was over cooked

User

Stayed for just 1 night for our wedding anniversary. In our room was a box of chocolates and a card wishing us a happy anniversary which was a lovely touch.

Room was huge as was the bed!!!! View coukd have been better looked onto another building. Food excellent as was the pool. But coffee was never really very hot!!.

Beautiful grounds for walking.

Thank you will definitely be back

User

Lovely hotel, great venue for events, staff were very polite and accommodating and the rooms were clean and comfortable with modern bathrooms. It was my first visit and I can’t wait to return

User

I was a wedding photographer, photographing at your hotel on the 16th if March this year. I have to say the staff there were outstanding and helped not only with the couples day but helped me with planning photographs, any questions I had and all round were helpful. The wedding coordinator Jullian was brilliant and the team were by far the most efficient and best I have seen so far.

User

I had the pleasure of staying at Old Thorns for my 50th and I can honestly say that it was the best time ever. The venue is amazing the staff were incredible and I would highly recommend it to anyone for a special event. If you want something special this is the place to go

User

We went here for a retirement get together in the evening at the 70s theme night ... And decided to spend the day there before the evening event. We had a nice lunch in the sportsman bar good food and price. Then booked into our room which I'm afraid for three adults we were not very pleased when we saw that we had a double bed and a vey small Z Bed .. Not suitable but pleased to say when we went and mentioned it to the reception she called the DM to see if he could do something and he moved us to an executive room. So very pleased no fuss decision . We went on to having a great night and service throughout was very good. Would stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

User

We stayed here after a wedding in Chichester, The room was very nice but soooo hot! I know the temperatures are above average just now, but lack of air conditioning at this price is very disappointing ! Breakfast was nice.

Unfortunately when we got back from our wedding we had a drink in the "Champagne bar", basically the "bar. Someone, hopefully by mistake, took my husbands suit jacket and left a different one!. So, if any one was at a wedding in the area on Sat 4th August or knows someone that was please check your suit jackets!! YOUR one is with the Old Thorns Hotel !

User

Although I gave this a 4* review, I do not want to lure unsuspecting customers into the hell I experienced.

The hotel entrance, staff, pool, bars and rooms were fantastic. For what is normally £99 a night you cannot complain.....oh but I can.

Although £99 isn’t a lot of money, there is one rule in my life I like to live by to make sure, under no uncertain circumstances I ever have to come across it. And that is DONT BUY BUDGET LOO ROLL. It can lead to a terrible mess!!!

When I stay away, whether it’s a 5* or a lovely 2*, I DO NOT expect to play Russian Roulette with my fingers on whether they will pierce the loo roll whilst I’m wiping my ass!!! I appreciate “every little helps”, but come on!!! I’m staying with you again next week and I’m 10000% bring my own loo roll so I can enjoy my 2/3 pre breakfast dumps (pending how clean your Stella is) without worrying about poo staining my fingers!!!

All in all 4* and I will stay again

User

A very nice and clean hotel. However! I would prefer to have seen a smile on all of the staff’s faces. My niece and went for a spa break just for one night. It was a shame that our stay immediately followed a bank holiday weekend when the hotel staff had dealt with 8 weddings. Some of the staff were obviously very tired and it showed. We had a couple of quips during our evening there. The barman could have looked a bit happier when serving us with delicious gin and tonics. My evening could have been a disaster when a waiter ran straight into me when I was carrying my plate of delicious roast dinner. I couldn’t help but forgive the young man when he was almost his knees begging for forgiveness with a glass of Prosecco for both Louise and myself. Dinner, prosecco and the bottle of red wine were all delicious, by the way!

Our room was comfortable but the hotel should invest in Air conditioning AND decent sized TV for the larger rooms.

The facials we both experienced were very, very good and I would definitely stay at the hotel again to experience another similar treatment.

Well worth staying at Old Thorns but you can always improve by looking and working on those finer points!

User

Went yesterday tribute night drinks were so dear and food was not nice room was nice but beds were rock hard been a few times but won't be going again to expensive for what it is !!

User

Staff were friendly and helpful. Tribute act left a lot to be desired, music sound system poor and no air conditioning in rooms. The quality of the food could also have been better. Not sure if it was value for money.

User

Spa was wonderful and rooms excellent. Seriously let down by restaurant Chinese option not available which we were aware of but on arriving for dinner at 730pm were told Steaks not available and only option was carvery which we did not want having had it on our last visit. We protested and on checking steaks became available! Not what you expect from a 4* hotel. They had 2 weddings to deal with so we felt that we were getting short shrift. They need to up their game in the restaurant at night. Breakfast was not a problem.

User

Apartment is lovely. Spa disappointing. 48 hrs patch test required rather than normal 24hrs so that rules out most 'beautification' for short breaks. 25 min facial yesterday was nice but manicure today is shocking. 2 nails cut below nail line and cuticles look bitten. We thought we would try this spa out re potential for my daughters wedding next year. Glad we had. Its not suitable.

User

I went to the Dirty Dancing Tribute night on 16th March and it was beyond disappointing! Hotel looks amazing but fails largely on the finishing touches. Wall paper peeling from wall in the room, no water or water glasses, no fridge to put your own water in. The walls are really thin and in turn it’s very noisy. The food at lunch time from the salad bar was really lovely. However, The food as part of the Tribute experience was inedible: dry chicken that was difficult to swallow and over cooked veg that failed to deliver on taste and appearance. When the act finally started it was nothing short of a let down. Breakfast was just as disappointing with tinned mushrooms, overcooked sausages, cheap sauces, cheap brown bread, the list goes on and when I asked for poached eggs they were served cold and undercooked. Also had no morning papers. Checking in and out times meant we were also unable to use the facilities. Certainly not worth the £135 per person.

User

Rude rude rude! Lovely venue but the staff are a different level zero customer service. The company should consider who they hire as senior management never experienced language or behaviour like it from a hotel!

User

Disappointing spa visit , pool was cold , heated beds for relaxation were not heated and air conditioning made it uncomfortable and cold sitting in a wet costume and dressing gown. Was told it would be a £7 charge for a dry gown .

The spa treatment and afternoon tea were very good but would not return nor would recommend it to anyone.

For the money paid other spas in the area are by far a better standard.

User

For the money paid other spas in the area are by far a better standard.
