About Oxford Centre For Islamic Studies

The Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies is a Recognized Independent Centre of the University of Oxford.

Oxford Centre For Islamic Studies Description

The Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies is a Recognized Independent Centre of the University of Oxford incorporated under Royal Charter. It was established in 1985 to encourage the scholarly study of Islam and the Islamic world. HRH The Prince of Wales is the Patron of the Centre. It is governed by a Board of Trustees consisting of scholars and statesmen from different parts of the world, alongside representatives of the University of Oxford.

'The Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies has done so much to promote and improve our understanding of the Islamic world. That mission has great importance in our increasingly interdependent world. The relationships between Islam and the West matter more today than ever before. '

HRH The Prince of Wales, Patron of the Centre

The Centre provides a meeting point for the Western and Islamic worlds of learning. At Oxford it contributes to the multi-disciplinary and cross-disciplinary study of the Islamic world. Beyond Oxford, its role is strengthened by a developing international network of academic contacts.

The work of the Centre has attracted global attention and widespread support.
