Planting Up - Milton Keynes
About Planting Up - Milton Keynes
The “Planting Up” permaculture project took root with a community garden at Westbury Arts Centre in Shenley Wood. Working with other "green" groups, we are now supporting the creation of further community-led green spaces across Milton Keynes.

Most avid gardeners will tell you that their landscape is their "happy place" and the actual physical act of gardening is a stress reducer and mood lifter. It turns out there's some science behind how soil can make you happy! :)
Tomorrow's permablitz at Westbury Arts Centre will take place earlier than scheduled. We'll be starting with a teas and coffees between 9 and 9.30am then working on the garden for a couple of hours before we sit down to a "Bring & Share" pancake Brunch.

This event has a workshop for adults and children as we lift the lid on the world of compost by showing you how to make the ultimate ‘black gold’ to give you the best quality soil for your gardens and pots at home.

Everyone is welcome to join in on our permablitzes working in the garden at Westbury Arts Centre.
We’re all there to share skills, team-work, enthusiasm and food as we all “muck in” and work together to create and maintain our permaculture-led community garden.
We schedule the blitzes for a couple of hours (from 11am – 1pm) to cover the time we need to work on the plot. Those wanting to stay for lunch are asked to bring snacks to contribute to the “Bring & Share” lunch. So on...ce the work finishes, lunch takes as long as it takes – usually until the conversation finishes and someone says we should probably go home.
What you need to bring: - Please wear old clothes and suitable footwear appropriate for the season. - We advise you to bring your own gardening gloves, especially with children. - Having your own secateurs/ pruners and trugs may be useful. - Please bring some basic gardening tools to use and anything you can contribute to our mulch and compost. - Please bring food for the lunchtime “Bring & Share” if you’d like to stick around for a bite to eat after the permablitz garden activity.
