Just to up date our customers - we are still currently operational offering a limited service, attending only emergency calls, where essential equipment has failed or is failing.
PPE - suitable measures are being taken when attending clients and each job is assessed to its requirements this may include engineers wearing full HAZMAT suits, mask and face protection.

It is always nice when a customer says thank you and pays promptly. The customers equipment had suffered a non economical repairable fault so there was little we could do for them other than offer some advice, which clearly gave them a result !

Today I met some amazing people ... what other job could I shake hands with George Murry and Horatio Nelson and be face to face with Patric Moore ....

Out of the blue a customer emailed us today to ask if we could service an old refrigerated trailer .... unbeknown to them we built them in the early 1990’s, it was designed not to have any wasted evaporator space, take 120 standard bread baskets, be balanced and easy to manoeuvre when ladened, run on a generator in transit and mains power when static, could be used as a short term freezer reaching -18c in a 28c ambient although only aimed as a 0/5c unit. The one below was one... of ten sisters reached named after one of the teams wives or daughters and three brothers, a prototype, and two preproduction models. The nose cones were designed to separate from the chamber, so in the event of a failure a complete module could be sent changed over in a matter of minutes so the customer didn’t loose time or stock the pod was simply switched. It’s seen better days, lost the generator and had a thermostat replaced ... hopefully we get to see which of the ladies this was soon ....

There are a lot of refrigeration companies that have their vans filled with stickers telling you all the trade affiliates they use and that they are award winning services ..... many like this example below are not worth the paper they are printed on ...... our vans only have the legally required markings on them as we believe satisfied customers are our best advert .....

THE HORNET - one year on
Carrying out their mandatory annual leak test and maintenance on the first experimental heat recovery plant we installed to cool the Beer cellar and provide hot water we were very pleased to see this award given to The Hornet - it’s revitalised a bit of Chichester which will I hope encourage more “ lively “ businesses than the infusion of estate agents and financial advisor shop fronts that have filled that area in recent years

It did take quite a while to clear the years of dust from the condenser, normally we would pressure wash or use chemicals to quicken this but the top of the coldstore has a wood clad decking so it no choice but blow it clear with nitrogen ...

To our surprise after cleaning the sight glass and checking the system with our electronic leak detector we could find no system leaks !

Today we carried out a maintenance and leak test on a piece of plant that was installed twenty plus years ago and we have not seen I think for around fifteen years, the customer has regularly cleared the condenser with a brush down but today it had a little treat ....

Below is a pressure release devise called a fusible plug, it’s purpose is a last ditch safety precaution against the risk of systems rupturing or exploding under extreme pressures. This client decided the unit was the perfect height to sit a BBQ on ! The heat of the BBQ drawn over the condenser caused it to activate and a loss of 4kg of refrigerant under pressure - the client was very lucky not to have sustained injuries from this ! Refrigerants contain a cocktail of chemicals some burn and release phosgene gas ( mustard gas ) which will burn skin or lung tissue if inhaled some contain isobutane ( highly flammable ) .... fortunately this only hurt his wallet !

A seriously iced up evaporator has buckled the fan blade - luckily the blade didn’t do too much damage to the evaporator but could have cost the client thousands -

We were recently beaten on price to replace a condensing unit - the company that acquired the job had inferred that the client would be eligible for a huge grant ( it didn’t materialise .... no surprise there ) the unit that was installed was under sized poorly installed and left in a dangerous condition the client suffered a refrigerant leak, loosing oil and refrigerant, the repair was equally as shoddy oil was added to the system but still remains short - the client suffere...d a second breakdown no surprise and electrical fault blacking our their factory and halting production costing them a lot of money, the company owner finally visited site today after the client refused to pay and threaten trading standards and a breach of the law by not adhering to f-gas laws - the client called us in to investigate a third fault that the contractor walked away from today causing another serious issue because controls were not set up correctly - the moral of this is you get what you pay for .....
