Not Flower Friday but Flower Saturday this week.
Clematis ( or sometimes called 'old man's beard')
A popular climbing plant with showy cup - shaped flowers and attractive buds and foliage .
... Arrange with equally gorgeous summer flowers, such as peonies , roses and delphiniums. Clematis would be an unusual and beautiful choice for bridal designs. It would look fantastic in late summer weddings, and the feathery seed heads which follow the flowers would be perfect for autumn wedding work.
Native to many countries although a large majority of clematis species originate from China.
Pioneers of the American old west called Clematis 'Pepper vine' and used it to spice up food.

This week it is the turn of the very summery Campanula or more commonly known Canterbury bells. A quintessential cottage garden plant most commonly recognised as bell - shaped flowers on tall stems. A native wild flower in the UK.
... The delicate shades of campanula would complement a pastel colour scheme and would be ideal for an extravagant floral summer wedding.
One of its many common names is fairy thimbles, which could make campanula the ultimate fairytale wedding flower.

Alliums
A firm favourite with landscape gardeners due to its distinctive spherical head of flowers which range in size from that of a golf ball up to the Allium giganteum which are over 20cm (8 inches) in diameter.
... Part of the onion family , which , with over 1250 species , is one of the largest plant genera in the world.
The onion smell will dissipate if the Allium are cut and placed in water which is changed several times.

Flower Friday is back after two weeks off! This week the delicate Cornflower or Centaurea is our focus flower. Fragile and delicate , the soft , tiny petals have an almost thistle - like appearance. Once common in the countryside, wild cornflowers are now classified as an endangered species. Colours range from white, pink ,burgundy to brilliant blue.
... Trivia : The cornflower is the National flower of Estonia

... Hand Tied Bouquet Workshop
We will be using seasonal flowers to create a spiralled hand tied bouquet. You will then be shown how to enhance your bouquet with wrappings and ribbon. Our flower workshops are for anyone with a love and appreciation of flowers, who want a really enjoyable and fun time.
All materials and refreshment are included in the price £45.00
The Workshop is to be held in the barn at The Red Lion, just across the road from the shop. Why not enjoy a morning creating with flowers and then stop for some lunch at The Red Lion.

Flower Friday Ammi or White lace flower
Similar in style to the hedgerow flower commonly called Cow Parsley, it has delicate flowers which form umbrella -like heads on willowy stems with fern like leaves .
... Ammi Wild hedgerow look makes it perfect for a very natural, vintage - style wedding . Although available all year round its light airy appearance would be lovely for a summer wedding .

Random Acts of Kindness
The Bouquet for the most deserved company this month is Coxhill Manor Nursing Home Chobham nominated by Jayne Angus for their kindness and support towards her mother and family. We will be delivering a bouquet of seasonal flowers next week.

It is the turn of the beautiful Peony this week.
The large luxurious taffeta - like flower head is unmistakable. It's easy to see why this flower is so popular with gardeners, florists and flower lovers alike.
... Its similarly to a rose in full bloom makes the peony a much sort after wedding flower. Wonderful in tied posies and vase designs, where it will add more than a touch of stately home elegance.

Flower Friday
I have chosen another cottage garden favourite , the old fashion Lupin, with its tall spires of compact pea shaped flowers and soft , fan - like leaves. Grows prolifically in the wild.
Comes in all colours starting at white and cream going through to the strong purples and burgundy.
... Lupins will look tremendous arranged on their own in a simple, tall containers.

The Gloriously tall Digitalis or more commonly named Foxglove. More commonly recognised as a wild flower, the tall spikes of foxgloves are synonymous with summer and old - fashion cottage gardens. Colour range of rich pinks/purples with speckles inside the bell petals.
... Digitalis means 'finger like' as the tubular flowers fit snugly over the human finger tips.
