Honda Accord 2.0 I-Dtech in for DPF issues, the customer came to us after multiple attempts made to repair. A major chain had cleaned the DPF twice! This had resulted in the issue subsiding for a day or two but still no one had addressed the actual fault !
After some in depth diagnostics we found the DPF to be blocked (again!) So we did a little digging and checked some of the usual culprits and found a TSB re a boost issue with the vaccuum supply to the turbo, it had however... already had the updated part fitted so it wasnt that.
We came down to the turbo and found that the variable vanes actuator was moving but was a very clunky operation.
We spoke with the customer and discussed cleaning the turbo and DPF rather than replacing to which we agreed.
We then set about removing the turbo and DPF cleaning all of the canes until they were moving freely.
The DPF then got an off car clean blasting the soot and the ash out of the system essential for a clean DPF
We refitted and test drove and the car had full boost restored.
One happy customer and no parts required!
Again just another reason why diagnostics is so important and it is so much more than just reading codes!

This poorly Audi A4 came in after being recommended to is by a mobile agent, he was called out after customer complained of DPF light on smoking and uneven idle.
All this and no codes apart from DPF full.... this cant be the full story.
When customer was questioned he told us that it has been smoking and idling poorly since it had an engine fitted..... 🤠 this got us thinking and a deeper investigation was required.
... After some advise from a very experienced VAG guy we were checking the timing and we found it to be out!
Once the timing was sorted and it was running well we set about applying a stage one performance map taking this audi from 170bhp to 200bhp!
In the customers words it now goes like a scalded cat!!!

VW crafter in with DPF issues, this van came to us with no power and the dash looking like a Christmas tree!
After a chat with the owner/driver we quickly worked out the issue and our assessment confirmed the diagnosis.
We then set above removing the DPF from the van and hooking it up to our DPF cleaning machine.
... After soaking the filter in our DPF cleaning fluid we then set about allowing the machine to do its work.
We then re installed the DPF back on the van and test drove where it regenerated itself whilst out and successfully re learnt soot and ash values.
after educating the driver on the best way to be looking after the DPF in the future the van was ready to go!
