Happy Museum Selfie Day! Our selfie today is from our lovely Sloth bear from one of our dioramas. He hides at the back so is often missed. This is why he is our museum selfie champion! #museumselfieday2019 #slothbear #museumchampion 🤳🏼🐻🏆#powellcottonmuseum

We would never kill animals in the way they did in Victorian times, and the exhibits are nowadays quite upsetting, however they were different times, & it’s well worth seeing the museum.

User

Very well laid out, interesting will be returning to take it in some more, people are good and informative. And good value

User

This was a real find; we were in an adjacent camp site when we saw the flier. It went way beyond our expectations; a look into a family way of life and wish to collect anything and everything for prosperity. I have never seen such a wildlife collection; this would not be allowed in the 21st century but never the less in its time incredible. Gardens and massive trees and shrubs all well cared for. Lots of small craft stalls and play areas and farm shops and cafes. We thought we would be there for an hour but stayed all day. Go visit you will not be disappointed.

User

This place is Absolutely amazing for all ages. And just on our door step.

User

This place has it all ! The actual museum is amazing the staff brilliant and knowledgable .

The tea rooms served up a cream tea fit for a King !

I recommend a visit to this wonderful place

User

Thank you all so much for everything you did to make Dan and Mel's wedding yesterday so special. It was a truly amazing day x

User

Super day at the museum. Full of interesting archive exhibits and great for children to get invoved.

User

Really interesting artefacts as well as the photos and explanations to back them up

Well displayed animal displays and was also very impressed with the costumes for dressing up and the musical instruments that could be handled and played

Beautiful gardens and very friendly staff

User

Lovely place to visit. Museum is amazing and the grounds are so lovely. Me and the kids absolutely love visiting.

User

It was fantastic, so real looking. The house is brilliant too, with lots of lovely carved wood. Very well worth a visit

User

Had a lovely afternoon in the museum and garden. The new interactive gallery is brilliant and inspiring. A special thank you to Susan for cheering up our grumpy two year old. She loved the raspberries 😊

User

Great place to visit. Our seven year old grandson loved it, especially the hands on section, he was also fascinated by the animals and the model village. He also had a good run round the garden before having something to eat in Mama Feelgoods cafe, then a look round the house. Not only interesting but educational as well. Definitely worth a visit.

User

Fantastic piece of history hidden in a small corner of Kent. The. Collection is amazing. My Grandson loves it there.

User

An amazing museum. The taxidermy is impressive, but yes a little odd. But that's just a difference of decades, don't let it put you off! The kids loved the touch, see, draw, dress up area-a brilliant section to inspire everyone of all ages. We will be back.

User

Always love our visits here. The best thing is that the children can get hands on with stuff...although saying that it's a pain to get them out! A lovely place, highly recommended.

User

Very strange collection of taxi-dermed animals displayed in realistic settings. I loved it in a strange kind of way. Well worth a visit. Good little tearoom and cafe, and garden and craft centres just a short stroll away.

User

The hands-on aspect of the museum was particularly popular with my children: they spent an extended period of time playing the musical instruments and handling the exhibits, which is something they are usually discouraged from doing at other museums we have visited! A fantastic place for children to visit, with helpful staff and plenty to do.

User

Staff were very friendly. The kids enjoyed walking around the museum. The addition of the section where they could handle items is a nice idea and the sign which says 'accidents happen, if something breaks just let us know' is refreshingly friendly.

User

An impressive number of animals from tigers and hippos and monkeys and in realistic settings as good as any you might see at the Natural History Museum but the stuffed animals seemed quite anachronistic by modern standards.

Needless to say my vegetarian daughter was not over keen with my photos and remarked that she would see the monkeys swinging through the trees.

I would still recommend it as the ticket allowed us into the grand house and the beautiful gardens.
