Quirky Napkins And Gifts

Love napkins absolutely love them, all shapes, sizes & fabric. I began to make them as gifts. They were so well received, I decided to make them so anyone could have homemade napkins which then lead to homemade gifts, cards & many more unique items.

My name is Fiona. I am married to Ian and together we are Mum and Dad, to three boys, with only one living at home…
We live in Kent in the beautiful fishing town of Whitstable.
We have a sea view and are lucky enough to have a working harbour a superb fish market and eateries of many flavours…We are 7 miles from the City of Canterbury, which boasts a fantastic Cathedral, fabulous restaurants, a vibrant student culture, and an amazing shopping centre.
We love to spend time together as a family, but love time with extended family and friends. Every day is a new day and should be lived to the full…
I worked as a registered nurse for 22 years, a role I loved, but had to transfer to an admin role due to on-going back problems resulting in surgery. From there my health took a downward turn.

Following a year of unexplained pain, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I was permanently in pain in various parts of my body, constantly exhausted and had to have a lot of time off work.

Being a mum to my boys was and is the most important thing in my life and being at work everyday was making my condition worse and I was spending less time with my family and more time in bed.
Something needed to change and I needed to do something for myself.

If you love cooking and entertaining, as we do, then you must be as passionate not only about how you serve the food but how the table is presented or laid.
I love to theme my table and use crockery, cutlery, cloths and napkins to suit the evening and the food. I love glassware and find it difficult to walk past a shop selling any form of glasses. Crystal, whether cut, plain or vintage; wine, water, sherry or champagne – I love them all. I also absolutely love, love love napkins, did I say absolutely love them, all shapes, sizes and fabric…. Napkins can be an art of their own class. For me they can resemble whatever I have in mind as the host and are absolutely the perfect final touch to make every table look magnificent.


I began to make napkins as gifts for family and then friends and they were so well received, I decided to make them so anyone, any of you could have homemade napkins and I now know that I have a true love for my small project, because I will get up early to cut, pin and sew and then take pictures to add to my pages. I will come home from the day job and do the same and perhaps only emerging from my little sewing room for dinner and to work on the business in other ways… The sewing became therapeutic and helped me take my mind off my pain. The napkins grew into bags, aprons and many other quirky items.

Napkins have been used for over six hundred years and the process of napkins has evolved and the use of napkins is taken for granted is – I quote:
“a tradition rich in ceremony, etiquette and history. ”
Therefore, whether you are having a dinner party, garden party or a birthday party I believe my napkins will make your table stand out from others.

My small business has allowed me to reduce my hours at the day job which enables me to spend time on my passion. Also – more importantly – to be there for my youngest son and am able to fit in appointments, school runs and parents evenings. We spend, more time as a family and although not cured or pain free, life seems to be on an even keel again.
From Napkins to gifts – as my re found love for sewing is rekindled. I really hope you like my projects and share with all your family and friends.
