Why not come and stay on the beautiful Kent and East Sussex border in our converted MK1 railway carriage! !
It sleeps up to 6 people with 1 family bathroom, 1 en suite bathroom, a fully functional kitchen, two double bedrooms and a bunk bedroom for kids and a lounge /dining area.
The carriage over looks the Northiam Station Platform and station building which is one of the stops along the Kent and East Sussex Railway.
Local attractions and things to do:
History: Rye, Rye Harbour, Bodiam Castle, Battle Abbey, Hastings Smugglers Adventure.
Activities: Rare Breeds Centre, Hastings Blue Reef Aquarium, Bedgebury Go Ape, Bodiam boating Station, Kent and East Sussex Railway, Hastings Adventure Golf.
Other attractions: Camber Sands Beach, Hastings Beach, Tenterden Town, Great Dixter House and Gardens and local vineyards
Attractions such as Bodiam Castle, Bodiam Boating Station, Great Dixter and of course the Kent and East Sussex Railway are accessible by walking to catching the steam train!

Won a one night stay. Fantastic. Spotless accommodation, very thoughtfully restored. Highest quality. Extra bonus when seeing the Santa Special, and the Saturday Special Supper Pulman car, called Barbara, stop at the station with apparantly a really historic tank ! Both husband and brother in law thrilled at this sighting! Thank you so much Sophie and Ben. Worth travelling all the way from Weymouth for. Most important to me was that the beds were so comfortable!
What a fantastic place! Stayed for the weekend and loved it. It was Thomas weekend so no trains running past but a very close drive to get there. A great excuse to come back though to wave at the passengers from the balcony next time!
We have just had the best time spending the weekend on the carriage. We were celebrating my daughters 17th birthday xx enough room to invite friends to come all day long. Such a quiet beautiful place and totally magical. Memories made and can't wait to con again xxxx thank you so much
This is one of those unique, bespoke holiday destinations that may appeal to a small audience. Seriously, this is not the case here. The carriage is set in a beautiful part of the Kent countryside, the decor in the carriage is stunning and the accommodation was scrupulously clean. At no time did we feel we were in a railway carriage trundling from A to B, instead we were in luxury accommodation with each room beautifully thought out, with amazing detail to quality and design.
The accommodation was exceptional, the location is superb with steam trains arriving at Northiam Station which can be seen from the carriage.
There is plenty to do nearby, we particularly enjoyed the town of Tenterden with its Thomas the Tank Engine themed experience, and also the historic town of Rye is nearby.
This holiday was a total hit with our grandchildren and we will definitely be back.
If you are in to steam railways this is an ideal way to this line. a wonderful place to have a holiday
Have stayed here for a few weeks and have loved every minute of it! Great place to stay, lots to do in the area. Watching the steam train go by is one of my favourite things, great views too! Would highly recommend
Had an amazing family weekend away in the mk1 buffet carriage was clean well maintained and well loved its had be done up to a very high standard.It's in Lovely location very peicefull and was sad to leave. Great price and I'm sure we'll be back. Thank you Ben and Sophie .You made our weekend very comfortable and very memorable .All the best for the future.
Had a magical stay at Railway Retreats, Northiam. An amazing restoration, tonnes of character, perfect location, with stunning views. Literally 20ft from the steam trains! Sophie and the team at Railway Retreats were a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommend!
