Suffering with lower back pain? This is a great stretch to help with L5-S1 disc and joint issues. #Repost Physioosteobook with @get_repost ・・・ #Repost Joetherapy ・・・... L5-S1 Spinal Decompression Stretch [ELDOA] - ☝️ELDOAs were created by Guy Voyer a French Osteopath and are postural self-normalizing techniques designed for widening the space within a chosen articulation! This is accomplished by creating fascial tension to fix the vertebra below and contraction in extreme range to normalize the vertebra above the targeted disc - Here's how to perform the ELDOA for L5-S1! - 1️⃣ Start by bringing your SITS bones (butt bones) onto the wall! 2️⃣ Feet will be hips width apart and rotate your legs, so feet are pointing inwards! 3️⃣ Spread the toes and flex your foot down (so feet will be point in and down) 4️⃣ Tuck your chin and without lifting your head look between your thighs! 🕷I call this next part "Do the Spiderman!" 5️⃣ One arm at a time you're going to push your palms towards the ceiling! 6️⃣ Now, one arm at a time bring your arms overhead, so your biceps are by your ear (maintaining those spiderman fingers) - Nice work getting into this position BUT now we need to actively be pushing our body parts in certain directions! Just read below to see where the line of drive is coming from! 💥 Heels are going ⬆️ 💥 Tailbone towards the wall 💥 Low back down to the floor ⬇️ 💥 Hands back behind you - 🚨 Now hold this position for 1 minute! If you can't, don't worry we can always work our way up to a minute! - #sciatica #stretch #yoga #calisthenics #flexibility #mobility #yogachallenge #rehab #prehab #yogaeverydamnday #yogi #romwod #flexible #yogapose #fitness #fitfam #fitspo #movementculture #homegym #getinspired #personaltraining #onlinetrainer #legpain #squats #powerlifting #crossfit #runnerspace #healthy #osteopath #osteopathy #backpain

Piriformis Syndrome - A common condition that can cause low back pain, hip pain and leg pain. This video shows some great exercises to help stretch the piriformis muscle — #osteopathy #osteopath #piriformis #piriformisstretch #lowbackpain #rehab #sportsinjuryprevention #sportsinjury #stretching #Repost @drkatie_clare with @get_repost ・・・... Piriformis Syndrome💫 . Is your piriformis syndrome actually piriformis syndrome? andifitiswhatcanyouforit . First thangs first. Gotta figure out if this pain in your bum is actually coming from your bum (piriformis). . Common happening: "I have piriformis syndrome" - do an evaluation, exam, movement annnnnnd “no, you have a low back injury” . So how can you tell? Well you come visit moi💁🏻‍♀️ or your favorite movement specialist and get evaluated. But an even more basic screen is simply "does moving your low back re-create your pain?" - if no, continue reading. If yes, working through some of this might be helpful but isn’t gonna solve things. . Now, I mentioned 2 types of piriformis syndrome- a shortened and a lengthened type. . 👉🏻Short will often: 🔻limit your INTERNAL hip rotation 🔻be worse with sitting 🔻flare up with strengthening in a shortened position 🔻respond well to stretching/smashing . So let's do some of that stuff that makes it feel better. 🎥Piriformis stretch seated: 📍ankle of affected side crossed to opposite side knee 📍keep torso upright📍HINGE HIPS forward (don't just round out low back) 📍gently pressure downward on knee to increase stretch 🎥Lying: 📍same cross position📍bring thigh towards chest 📍reach through "window" to grasp thigh and move closer📍use elbow to rotate on knee pressing downward 🎥LAX release: LAX ball about dead center on your glute 📍knee positioning up and across body 📍rotate internally/externally with leg . The key is once you've gotten things to stretch and chill out THEN you strengthen it. You don't get out of strengthening! . ❗️BUT If you've tried these stretches and hate them, feel like they don't help or actually flare things up AND you know your issue isn't coming from your low back- you may actually have a lengthened piriformis🤔.

Help!! — Can anyone recommend a local business or someone that can help me with Google AdWords. It’s safe to say I’m in over my head and have no idea what I am doing!! —

User

I started seeing Abigail in February 2013 with hamstring problems in the build-up to the Brighton Marathon where she was quick to identify the problem and help get me through the marathon. I have been seeing her since then with various issues such as lower back issues, also with my rehabilitation post-surgery to my foot and also issues with my hip flexors.

Having seen a number of health professionals over the past 10 years whilst I’ve been running, I’ve found it hard to find someone that I can really trust and who is not anti-sports, but instead works with me to achieve my sporting goals even if it does mean some rest in order to achieve this. I may not like what I’m being told at the time due to always wanting to run no matter what; however I know that I can trust Abby to be making the right decisions for the correct reasons and not just telling me to rest for the sake of it.

Abigail always goes the extra mile to help out wherever it’s possible, I would highly recommend her to anyone. Words cannot say how grateful I am for the help that she has provided over the years.

I’m looking forwards to working with Abigail in 2015 as I train for the Brighton Marathon. Abigail is now included as part of my training plan, so that she can help identify problems before they occur, meaning that I can train smarter with less injury’s and hopefully run a faster time.
