Resident has been a pleasure to buy or discover music in for as long as I have known it, which is since it opened I reckon. Their usp are, as I think Derry and Natasha recognise, the Residents. Although the personnel have changed over the years, their capacity to genuinely enthuse about whatever you are buying, without making a sales pitch, has been constant. They have turned RSD into an art form as well, I reckon. Lovely place to shop, for vinyl for sure, but loads of interesting cd compilations to be found as well. Long may they continue.

I’m a local and have seen the shop grow from its original small narrow unit into the unique experience that it is today.



The website has its ‘Album of the Week’ and other selected new releases and, as a busy person, it’s great that I can rely on Resident to present the best of what’s around every Friday.

Asides an amazing Vinyl, Book, CD collection Resident also host Instore performances and signings. To pre-order an album, watch the band play it live in front of you, then meet them and get it signed is a unique experience.

The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and have the chance to divulge their own individual tastes in the annual (end of year) catalogue.

I’ve discovered so much new music through Resident and it’s monthly ‘Brighton Album Chart Show’...you too can even own the T-Shirt. Long may Resident Records reign supreme.

Great local independent record store in the heart of the lanes in Brighton. Knowledgeable and really helpful staff and great in store performances regularly arranged. Not just a business but a pleasure for fans of real music. You have to visit this shop when visiting Brighton.

Fantastic service offered with their online mail order. Excellent packaging & quickly dispatched (& delivered). Great communication from the store to let me know how the order was progressing. I would recommend their service & look forward to visiting in person when I'm next in the Brighton area! :)
