The recently launched Land Rover Discovery 5 probably has one of the most contentious rear design features of recent times with it's slightly off centre rear number plate. We're told that it's a nod to previous generations of Discovery that had offset number plates (which were functional as they used to carry a spare wheel on the back door, or had a split tail gate).
Being such a love it or hate it design element has now led lead designer Gerry McGovern to say that one of the... reasons people don't like it is because dealers are fitting the wrong size rear number plate. The car was designed to have a standard sized rear plate, not the oversized plate that a lot of dealers are fitting.
One thing's for sure - regardless of the number plate placement Land Rover will sell the car in droves so probably aren't too concerned about the debate.

TVR is back (again) with it's first new car since the company was taken over by its present owner in 2013. The new Griffith (a nod to TVRs past) was revealed at the Goodwood Revival this morning.
Could this be what TVR needs to stay back in the frame for good, or is it going to face far too much competition from the more established, less niche brands?
Either way it's going to be fascinating to see how the latest rebirth of TVR progresses.

Something to bear in mind if you're going car shopping anytime soon. Don't think you're going to escape by buying electric or hybrid either - the original sales price will have a bearing on the VED charged for the first five years of the car's life whether you bought it new or used.

... We are seeking to recruit a qualified, experienced technician for our busy independent workshop. The role is diverse, and will include all aspects of vehicle maintenance including but not limited to: analysis, diagnosis and rectification of vehicle faults. Routine maintenance and servicing. Tyre fitting and repair. Air conditioning system maintenance and repair.
The ideal candidate will:
Be qualified to NVQ level 3 or equivalent. Be confident in diagnosing and repairing cars, SUVs and light commercial vehicles. Be self-motivated but also able to work within a team and with others when required. Be prepared to further their skills and understanding of modern vehicle technologies. Display considered and professional working practices at all times as a representative of our brand. Follow industry best practice and take pride in the quality of their work. Work to the high standards our clients have become accustomed to and demand. Have a good level of customer service. Have a valid driving licence.
Our working hours are 0830-1730 Monday to Friday (no weekend work is required but may be available).

Today we have this lovely DB7 Vantage in for some servicing and investigative work

I was really impressed with Riemans last week. My parents were visiting and thought they may have a slow puncture. Ben and Alex fit them in at short notice to check and also found two tyres that needed replacing. All this was fixed within 24 hours, and importantly before my parents drove the 250 miles home. Very pleased with the Riemans service!

I truly cannot thank Ben at Riemans enough. Due to my own error of filling my car with the wrong fuel, I was reassured that they would do the very best they could to correct the fault and with as Little expense as they could to me . Not only did they collect my car almost immediately with an unexpected replacement vehicle ,they got the job done quickly and and my car is. Or running better than ever . Fast service , extremely professional and most definately will use again for future work . Many thanks guys . Lorraine
