We had the wake for my mothers funeral at the Robin Hood and we were extremely pleased with the food, both in terms of quality and quantity, the service and the facilities offered. Everyone that attended commented on how much better it had been compared to other functions of this type they had been too, especially those held at major chain hotels.

The conservatory restaurant provided the ideal venue and seating area for the people attending the funeral. The pubs relaxed attitude to guests spilling out into other parts of the establishment enabled people to circulate and renew friendships and reflect on the life of my mother whilst others enjoyed the buffet.

User

They organised a small buffet for us and it was outstanding. Gorgeous wee pub with some awesome Christmas decorations. Friendly staff too. You've probably heard of 'Hygge'... this place knocked it out of the park.

User

Stopped off at the Robin Hood last night for an impromptu date night, just like we used to in the old days. We knew our friend Andy had moved on so we were unsure of whether the quality of food would be the same.......they had run out of chicken? But we needn't have worried it was delicious as always and no request was too much trouble all the staff were as friendly as they used to be. Although it was new faces, they made us feel very welcome xxx such an unexpectedly lovely evening xxx

Stopped in for dinner with our English friends almost 2 years ago this November. Ended up staying 'till the place closed. Was one of the high spots of our visit to Ireland and England celebrating our 50 years of marriage. Excellent food, service and just plain good and friendly people. Our friends assure us that it has gotten nothing but better ever since. We find that very easy to believe. Keep plugging. Jim & Shelly McLaughlin, New Hampshire, USA.

Lovely pub, lovely food, lovely views, staff lovely, plus right on my doorstep too, it’s a great little pub, lovely restaurant too & they do have events here too,

User

Love this pub. Food is really good the staff are lovely and friendly, love that it's very dog friendly too always walk my dog first and then food after. My dog also gets 2 sausages as she is well known the member of staff reminds me to order the sausages if I have forgotten to order them that is

This was my second visit, the first was a works reunion an d I had a lovely plate of fish and chips with mushy peas and salad a very good portion it was too with the fish sitting on the fries. The second visit I took my brother and we had the steak pudding, mash and vegetable; another very good portion of food, lovely gravy just like mum used to make. If the other dishes are like these then I would say you are looking at great English traditional home cooking but with choices, don't want mas then you can have chips, or boiled potatoes instead; the vegetable are fresh and wholesome. Obviously I haven't tried the foreign dishes so I can't judge those. Nice quiet atmosphere, good choice of beers, soft drinks etc and nobody bothering us every five minutes asking if we're happy with the meal. Only negatives are the side table is too cosy for a four seater table and the facilities could do with being bigger and take care when driving into and out of the premises, the car park is large the entrance road is narrow. Don't let the negatives put you off though, the food and quiet atmosphere are worth the effort and there is a garden for those hot summer days.

User

Sat in the pub 'garden' with a group of dog walkers and many dogs after a lovely walk. It could certainly be a nicer area to sit in with a bit of effort, but we all had a good time. The food was fantastic.

User

Had Sunday lunch here for the 1st time and it was beautiful all home cooked and to perfection will definitely be coming again only criticism would be we was sat in the conservatory part or the pub and it was a bit chilly in there so lost the cozy feel the rest of the place had

User

Bonfire night celebrations, well done. Disappointing that you ran out of burgers, thankfully my Husband and friend were happy with hot dogs, congealed beans being served with jacket potato not great. As someone has mentioned already the ladies need work. All in all a nice pub.

User

Been going to the Robin Hood for many many years, I remember the round pool table and lovely food, 10 years ago we had my grandmothers wake there, we visited yesterday for a function had a lovely day only thing that was disappointing was numerous under cooked bbq chicken, we did speak to the lady who was cooking it she just explained she was checking and as far as she felt it was cooked. This certainly wasn't the case as was raw and bloody. Think the ladies toilets need some work, as none of toilets flush and they were very filled up.

Overall it's still a lovely place to visit just few things need attention.

Really needs some money put back into this pub, food tad expensive, had fish & chips the lettuce was a bit dried out so not fresh, sat in what i thought was an arm chair only to sink below the table springs were totally gone, so shouldn't still be in the pub for customers to sit on, table was rather wobbly & old, hubby had the pie but it was served with dried cress on top as a garnish, really if it's not fresh then don't serve it even as a garnish. This pub could be so much better if only you would put money back into it, felt quite chilly in there so eat with my coat on!

User

Normally we love to come to the Robin Hood pub and have been several years on New Year’s Day however we took a long walk today to arrive to a poster advertising times (which stated public holidays noon-onwards) so we waited outside in the rain until noon to then be told they weren’t opening! There were no signs to state that they would be closed, the website says ‘times may differ on New Years day’ and facebook page says ‘open’! So unfortunately a group of 12 of us were left feeling let down as we had walked a long way in mud and rain to not get our new year drink or cheesy chips when we got there!

User

Lovely surroundings but food rather overpriced- Mum and Dads liver n Bacon was disappointing, vegetables were very hard m- scallops were off the menu as was steak. Baked Camembert was gorgeous, prawn cocktail was nice, scampi n chips were nice but nothing special- pub grub x

Sat in the pub 'garden' with a group of dog walkers and many dogs after a lovely walk. It could certainly be a nicer area to sit in with a bit of effort, but we all had a good time. The food was fantastic.

Had Sunday lunch here for the 1st time and it was beautiful all home cooked and to perfection will definitely be coming again only criticism would be we was sat in the conservatory part or the pub and it was a bit chilly in there so lost the cozy feel the rest of the place had

Bonfire night celebrations, well done. Disappointing that you ran out of burgers, thankfully my Husband and friend were happy with hot dogs, congealed beans being served with jacket potato not great. As someone has mentioned already the ladies need work. All in all a nice pub.
