What a unique place! It's a Jekyll any Hyde of a high street in the day time wonderful shops really interesting things to look at by night full of drunk hooligans who are only happy making trouble! However the high street is such a lovely place to go and see I highly recommend it

So lovely to see the people who dressed up in characters from Charles Dickens books. They were all so friendly and there was lots to see and do for all ages. The trade stalls were good value for money and there was local ales and beers, home made cakes and biscuits, plenty of hot food freshly made and a funfair for the kids to name just a few. A lovely day out for all ages. Well done to all who took part.

Me and my husband thought it was a lovely day thought it was very good with all the people dress up and the band was excellent it really fealt like Christmas and the Crafe fair was very good lots of things to buy eat etc etc all I can say is thank you Rochester

User

Loved it so much, so old school clean and especially the book shop with so many interesting reads and antiques, the owner told me hes retiring as the rent is peaking, it needs to be saved, a perfect stop off towards hitting the sea in Herne's bay <3

User

Love Rochester High Street especially the often forgotten bit on the way to Chatham, there are some wonderful old buildings down that way. Hopefully this part of the area will soon be the place to go for those offbeat shops and restaurants

User

Great to see the old buildings retained with a great atmosphere during the festivals. We visit every festival and have done for a number of years. The events and stands seem to get better each year. Used to find parking, but now impossible, tried the Park & Ride for the first time yesterday - well worth it as it takes away the stress and hassle of finding parking. Keep it up we will continue visit your great events

User

Great Christmas market , and the high street reminded me a bit of Canterbury , First time we have been there and it was a nice little place.

User

Enjoyed our visit to the Christmas festivities amazed by the amount of people. There was a nice variety of stalls and the food and mulled wine was great Thank you Rochester and a Merry Christmas to one and all.

The High Street with the Cathedral,Castle ,river frontage and shops is a lovely little oasis just a few metres away from the busy A2 and a quite place to have a cup of tea at the Cathedral.

User

Some truly old buildings, loved the fact that so many people were in traditional dress, with so many variations. People were very friendly and helpful. However the market stalls were a dissapointment, not selling anything different, and could have been in any market. The German village was rip off prices for poor quality food, would advise others to eat elsewhere.

User

Some lovely shops in the high street. Plenty of places to eat. Enjoyed the parade. Disappointed there was no cash machines working after walking everywhere asking and looking. Not good

User

Parade was excellent as was 'street scrooge'. So, so busy though. Couldn't get to any stalls! Echo the need for more toilets and maybe restricting the number of people allowed in the castle fayre? Shame not more frequent Carol concerts in the cathedral as we just couldn't get in! Some festive background music in the high street would have kept the atmosphere going between events.

Nice by day, great festivals during the summer. Poor investment in Policing at night is starting to show an ugly side to this only jewel in Medway's crown. Street drinkers from Chatham now encroaching down this high street. Both the council and police need to take action before it turns into another crap hole...

User

I love Rochester but a lot of the shops are closed in Mondays , which is a shame. Love the ambience and the quaint shops shame I have to come through the tunnel or over the bridge as the traffic is often a nightmare

User

I love Rochester .but what has happened to the Christmas decorations ? This year is not good .Christmas dickens is coming soon over a hundred and thirty coaches from all over the place . tourism is good for Rochester but this year is a poor show things on lampposts ? The Christmas tree is not brilliant come on Medway council bring more tourists in with a Dickensian Christmas more decorations make an effort lease

User

Had a great day the people that Dressed up was so Friendly they stopped and talked to my Grandchildren let us take photos the only downfall was a lot of rude and ignorant people that had no respect for my Granddaughter that is disabled and in a Wheelchair x

User

Didn't go into any shops, too crowded due to festival. Was disappointed not to get into craft tent due to long queues and packed inside. Maybe individual stalls? Loved the Rochester people all dressed up as dickenison characters. Costumes were fantastic.

Will go back sometime when not so busy.

User

Always good during Winter Dickens...and some nice craft bits to buy. And some new and interesting foods and drink to try .
