This place is great. Food, service etc all excellent. There is a bar upstairs & downstairs is the restaurant which overlooks the harbour in Folkestone.Summer or Winter this is a nice spot to have lunch a nice drink or a nice meal in the evening with friends or family. Especially good for special occasions. Staff very friendly & helpful.

Review of the bar only, spent a long night here with Friends, many many cocktails were drunk. The place is nice, atmosphere is great. Of the 2 members of staff who were working on the bar one was great one was pretty useless and curt, verging to the point of rudeness. As the night went on we just used the other barman, who also made a much better cocktail! Considering the final tab for the group spending the whole night was the price of a cheap used car, if we'd been lumbered with the other barman I might have been tempted to give 1 star on service alone. Almost 5 stars. everything else was top notch.

Main restaurant is invariably booked in advance. We arrived on a whim and it was suggested we might go upstairs where they had a limited menu. What a great suggestion. Plenty of choice, fairly quick service, fantastic views and a lovely outside eating terrace. Excellent.

We actually travelled in from London to go to Rocksalt. One of our friends recommended it, and I'm glad to say we loved it. Excellent wine list, incredible seafood and friendly staff. The prices are very reasonable, although of course it's easy to spend quite a bit of you are looking to do so. Overall, excellent!

I didn't have high hopes for finding a really good restaurant in Folkestone. Rocksalt, however, greatly exceeded expectations. The bar was small and has the potential to be intimate and lively, but at 11am( having just crossed from France and desperate for a coffee) was quiet and chilled with attentive staff. The restaurant, which has full height picture windows onto the harbour, was exceptional. The lobster was fresh and cooked to perfection and the Sunday lunch menu is both good value and quality, as well as being interesting. The staff are great, attentive but not overwhelming and they have a very good wine list.

Amazing view, staff and the food was awesome! The main reason to visit Folkestone!! The upstairs bar was a bit tight for space, but amazing cocktails

Great Location and really good food but service lets it down...
Have now been a couple of times. On both times the food has been good and the location is stunning on the waterfront but the service was very slow the first time and even more so the second time. So much so that one of our group ended up having to get their meal boxed to go as it had taken an hour and a half to arrive. Disappointingly this was still included on the bill. The staff also seemed to resent our disappointment at the slow service which was voiced in a very even-mannered way. It's a pity as the food is consistently good and sometimes very good. It isn't cheap but is probably a fair price for what you are getting.

Arrived at Rocksalt for a special Birthday for my wife on a Sunday.
So very disappointed.
We ordered and waited over an hour for our starters, Soup and Oysters.
Hardly a long preparation required.
We then waited another 55 minutes after finishing our Starter for our main course which was Sunday Roast.
Many people were complaining about the delay in receiving there orders.
We were asked if we wanted desert but just couldn't bare the wait any longer.
Seemed to be so many waitresses and waiters milling about but not
enough in the kitchen it would appear.
Just short of 3 hour experience for just 2 courses.
So very very disappointed with the venue.
They removed the drinks from our bill with out us even asking,
which was very good of them.
But i dont go to Rocksalt for FREE drinks i go for a nice experience.
As a customer who regularly uses them for personal and business
use, I am afraid that this will be our last visit for a while as this is
our 2nd disappointing visit in as many weeks.
The food is fantastic and i cannot say enough on just how good it is.
But life is just to short to wait that long.
Such a shame as rock salt always use to be the pinnacle of Folkestone
Restaurants.
Such a shame.
