Yesterday the Museum hosted our first Women in Engineering Conference to demonstrate to GSCE and A Level students the engineering opportunities available to them. It was an incredibly successful event but we could not have run it without support from the Royal Engineers, Rochester Bridge Trust, University of Greenwich and Canterbury Christ Church University.

FRIDAY SELFIE! The arrival of a section of Mark I Inglis bridge, which the Museum has just acquired from Doncaster REA and 66 Works Group. The Inglis bridge was used during the First World War, and was the first equipment bridge that could cross water without using pontoons.

This weekend saw the RE annual Corps Memorial event, so what better time to receive an exciting new addition to the Museum’s collection? The Mark I Inglis Bridge was discovered on a farm in Doncaster a couple of years ago, since then the Doncaster REA and Corps members have been working with the owner of the land, The Highways Agency and Harrisons Engineering (Lancashire) Limited to save the bridge. Initially taken to Chetwynd Barracks, Chilwell, components of the bridge were partly refurbished by 66 Works Group. Two sections of the bridge were officially handed to the Museum this weekend.

OTD 1914, Capt. Theodore Wright died after being hit by a shell from enemy fire at Marne. This was the second action which was to see him awarded a Victoria Cross, the first taking place less than a month before. A few miles away, on the same river, Capt. William Johnston was also involved in an action for which he received a VC. See both medals on display at our 'VC: For Valour' exhibition - re-museum.co.uk/…/vc-for-valour-sapper- vcs-of-the-first-wo…/

We planned on a quick visit to pass a couple of hours on a rainy day...ended up spending 4hrs there and absolutely loved it! No problems with parking, exceedingly good value for money (£8.80 per adult and ticket valid for return visits for 1yr), wonderfully presented, clean throughout and super friendly staff. Is one of the best regimental museums we've been to

The museum was absolutely fantastic. I took a group of 40 children from Cornwall. They enjoyed walking around in a beautiful building looking at fantastic displays.

I would also like to thank the staff for all their help when we had a very poorly child. They had a wheelchair for us to borrow they also let us borrow it to go to Medway park as we were entering a competition. Their help didn't stop there. They also agreed that we could borrow it for the night as we were entering a competition that evening. We are truly grateful for everything you did for us.

My husband and I cannot wait to go back and look around again.

Really enjoy our trip to this hidden gem. The history, the artifacts... just the place. Amazing! Staff were brilliant, engaging and very informative.

Happily venture back here and enjoy the vehicles outside (in warmer weather!).

Look forward to returning!
