About Safety Centre Milton Keynes - Hazard Alley

Registered charity, best known as Hazard Alley, with an innovative approach to teaching children how to keep themselves safe and also offering health and safety training for workplaces. Company Register number: 2709081 - Registered Charity number: 1019093

Safety Centre Milton Keynes - Hazard Alley Description

Opened in 1994 by Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Gloucester, the Centre quickly established itself as a 'must do' for schools seeking innovative new ways to introduce children to elements of the National Curriculum such as peer pressure and bullying, vandalism and personal safety. We now have an average of 20, 000 children, including special needs groups, visiting per year. Since our inception, over 320, 000 school children have received our interactive safety education.

In 2004, the centre completed a major rebuild, including the installation of a disabled lift, which further improved the facilities for the children. In the same year we celebrated our 10th birthday and on this occasion, The Duke of Kent visited while a local school group, Giffard Park, was on their tour.

We also offer First Aid and Fire Safety Training courses.

A little space is left on our pilot family first aid workshop for 1 parent or carer and 1 child aged 8 and over. Please message if you'd like to test out the idea by taking part free of charge in exchange for some feedback at the end?

User

We've got two families for our pilot first aid family session next Monday (29th October) so we're only looking for two more to join us and test out the idea of learning emergency first aid and trying it out with some volunteer casualties in our life size village. Please message us if it is your half term next week and you fancy taking part- there is no charge - we would just like your feedback. everyone needs to be 8 yrs and over. Thank you.

Hazard Alley needs 4 families of 3 or 4 people to be testers for a new family first aid workshop. Children need to be aged 8 or over and there needs to be at least one parent or carer per family group.
The pilot workshop is happening on Monday 29th October starting at 10.30 am and it will last for about 2 hours with a break in the middle.
The format will be like this: you'll get some training from Ian about how to treat people who might be unconscious or have just had an ac...cident..... then, you'll get to put it all into practice by encountering 4 different scenarios in Hazard Alley itself and work as a family team to help the casualty and call for help.
There is no charge to take part - we'd just like your honest feedback about your experience at the end. If you'd like to be involved, please direct message us via Facebook with some contact details and information about the number of people in your family team and confirmation that you are all aged 8 or over. If we get more families than we need, we'll let you know whether you can take part.
This workshop is being developed as part of our new family learning programme and is funded by the Co-op Community Fund. #TheCoopWay

What a fantastic place. Visited today with a group of Beaver Scouts and they loved it. The staff were all fantastic and really got the children involved. We all learnt something new tonight.

User

We visited last summer for an open day, it was very busy but all the staff delivered information fantastically. We experienced a small fire in our kitchen yesterday and my 5 year old son remembered everything that the staff had told him if he was ever in a situation near fire! Outstanding information from staff and so very very grateful to them. Get out, stay out, call 999!!!! Amazing

User

Visited today on one of the family tours. Really intimate 1 adult to 2 children (Probably more when it gets busier though). My daughter thoroughly enjoyed herself and learnt lots. Hasn't stopped talking about it. Highly recommend for anyone looking for something to do with the kids (over 6yrs) in the school holidays. I went as a child so was very excited to take her too, lots of new scenarios since I last visited.

The team at Hazard Alley are honestly the best!

The Courses they provide for First aid is outstanding.

They are always willing to go the extra mile to help a customer and I would very highly recommended them.

You will not be disappointed.

User

Such a fantastic interactive place to educate kids on day to day safety including digital safety. Volunteers were really friendly and lovely. Loved the fact the kids could do real life 999 calls and build their confidence should they ever have to do so in real life (hopefully not). Can't quite believe that surrounding schools don't make mandatory trips there......... Fab morning at this hidden gem. X

User

Recently worked with the safety centre team for a University project and they couldn't be more welcoming! Just from watching a normal running day the kids seemed to love it too - highly recommend!

User

I have just got home from a session with my Brownie unit. Fantastic time had by all and so educational. Thank you.

User

Great day at the safety centre, was on the blood bike stand and the staff were amazing and so helpful.

User

Fantastic place I visited as a child x really an amazing venue ;)

User

Fantastic centre for kids - book today!!

User

Fabulous place, staff were welcoming, scenarios were realistic, safety tips for all ages. Would highly recommend it after our trip today, thank you all so much.

User

Attended one of the family tour days. In our group there were only 2 families so the kids got a really interactive experience. The guides were very good at explaining the scenarios and dangers and kept everyone engaged and interested. Lots of fun and secretly educational shhhhh don't tell them that bit!

User

A brilliant trip with my class of year 4s. A must do trip for all children of that age as they become more independent. Fantastic afternoon!

User

My boys loved it , trying to find the 8 teddy 🐻 inside , we got them all , going round 4 times lol, kids loved fire engine 🚒, happy days,

User

Went to the open day with my 12 yr old brother and his friend. It was far too busy for the kids to get much from it. Speakers couldn't be heard and in the individual rooms they were so packed you could barely move to find the dangers. We ended up just trying to squeeze our way back out.

Car parking was a nightmare, cars going into the car park only to find it full and then 10 cars trying to do 10 point turns to get back out. Cars all across both sides of the road and on verses made it quite difficult for pedestrians to cross safely and for drivers to see pedestrians.

The idea of this day is great, but could do with some sort of crowd control. I've been with a class before and that was a much better experience

User

Visited for the open day this Sunday and it was a little disappointing too many people allowed into the venue at one time meaning it was crowded and kids couldn't really interact with the exhibit or staff. The most ironic issue was Bari g in mind this is a safety centre my daughter fell on one of the numerous loose flagstones aoutside
