It has been a busy weekend of events for all. Robert was on duty today at the Kimblewick Hunt Point-to-Point at Kingston Blount - a glorious day for it. We hope you have all been out having fun with your horses this weekend.

We hope you are all managing to get to Royal Windsor Horse Show this year, even though a little soggy underfoot. You may bump into Iain McKenzie who is on duty there today. Stay dry! #rwhs #equinevets

With all the sun and rain we have had recently everything is growing like mad. Try to check your fields on a daily basis for any sycamore saplings, prevention is better than cure:

With the lighter evenings now it is great that we can all get out after work and ride. However please remember whenever venturing beyond the yard please put your hi-viz on. You can be so easily missed when on a country lane or the sun is low in the sky..........

We are all looking forward to next weeks show. One of our vets will be working there on the Friday and we have someone else there on Wednesday in the Show ring on her gorgeous mare - more details (and photos) to follow.......

A huge thank you to Zack, vet student from Bristol Uni, who has been with us all week. He also has other skills in making this gorgeous chocolate cake with our logo on it - amazing!

We received this lovely message and video from our client Jo and her gorgeous horse Patrick (Monika Medynska riding in video). After a severe kick wound and arthroscopy surgery Patrick is fit and well and looking very trim!
“I thought I would share with you my horse Patrick’s success. When I first got him in 2015, after only 2 weeks he received a kick on the fetlock which got infected. Anyway on entry to the hospital he was weighed and I think everyone was horrified to see ...he weighed nearly 700kg! Fast forward to 2018 having moved to a lovely yard a year before, he now weighed in at 543. Well today, April 2019, having visited your scales, he weighs in at 498! He's a much happier, healthier boy. I'm so pleased.”
If you are a client, we are more than happy for you to bring your horse in to use the weighbridge, just let us know you are coming. 01344 426066

Slavnaya has just come home after an extended stay as an in patient at the practice. She has been a very sick horse and I have to say that the care she received was exemplary. EVERYONE , the vets, yard staff and office were highly professional, helpful and friendly. The communication between vet and owner was excellent. I can't recommend Scott-Dunn's Equine Clinic highly enough. Outstanding. Thank you.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to Yolanda who came to sedate my mare for travelling yesterday. Zinnia has always been terrified of vets and we've had varying degrees of success injecting her over the years, at the worst resulting in repeated rearing, hitting her head on the roof, losing the needle in the stable as well as squashing vets and myself. Yolanda arrived yesterday, knowing her history and asked how I would like the situation approached. This in itself was a huge relief as different vets in the past have tended to disregard my advice, but instead Yolanda spent time picking up Zinnias feet, talking to her, stroking her all over before calmly twitching her neck, enabling her to administer the sedative calmly. She stayed and helped us load her on to the lorry and her kind and calm approach really helped. Of course this wouldn't have been possible without other vets who have helped her progress over the last few years - Mark, Luis & Jamie. Thank you :)

Just wanted to say a big thank you to Jamie this morning – I have obviously told him in person, but praise is so often not given when it is due.

Something so simple (routine vaccinations) every year are a bit of a nightmare for me as Mac has a total meltdown with needles (as in threw himself on the floor a few years ago, we ended up with 2 bent needles last year, the list goes on) and at 17hh its not easy to deal with. I did pre-warn Jamie this morning and he literally could not have been better, to the point that Mac didn’t even flinch let alone react in any other way. Jamie was so calm and friendly, went round and picked up all Macs feet and made a right old fuss of him and before I knew it we were walking back out of the stable all done. As I said, I did express my thanks to him and then he told me he’s only here for a few months – if he can’t pop back next summer to do Macs jabs at least now I know that it can be done without any drama :)

Thanks again Jamie!

Ian Mackenzie is a fantastic vet. Honest, frank and extremely supportive. So happy to have found him.

I've been a client of Scott Dunn's since 1984 and have practically grown-up with most of the staff, yes there have been changes, but the level of care and service has never faltered. They are able to provide great technology on the road and at the practice so you don't have to travel miles to another practice or see another vet which in itself is totally comforting as we all know what these horses can put us through :) I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them to anyone.

User

I had a very relaxed and sleepy pony after our last acupuncture session with Marta at Scott Dunns. I haven't ever seen him as relaxed as this without sedation and it was lovely to see him in a 'naturally induced' calm and tranquil mood. The soreness in his neck improved greatly from day one and I would recommend booking a session for this holistic treatment, Finny loved it! Thank you Marta!

User

Huge Thank you to Simon Knapp,Yolanda and all the staff for looking after Lewis so well, and getting a diagnosis so promptly, hopefully on the mend now

User

Great people. Have used them for 40 years when Simon Knapp was nearly as dapper as he is now. Very professional and friendly unit, great load of knowledgeable guys thanks for eveything

User

Client for 7 years and have never failed to be impressed, relieved and reassured by the standard of service from all at Scott-Dunns. Both my horses (one sadly had to be PTS) received excellent care and thorough investigations made into their varying ailments, advice always balanced and realistic. They are the first number in my phone for ANY equine query or emergency.

User

Barry Fenton on ITV4 Racing just singing Simon's praises for his treatment of Paisley Park, who has just finished a fabulous second at Warwick :)

User

Absolutely amazing vets and team! So glad I have changed over to Scott Dunns

User

A massive thank you to Luis for everything he has done for Kalila over the last 5 months. In particular in regard to being frank about her condition and the options I had. Without that I would not have gone with the operation and she would not be where she is now well on her way to recovery. Hes a real credit to the practise. Also a massive thank you to all of you for you care and support. xxx

User

A big thank you to all at Scott-Dunns for looking after Cúchulainn (Culann) after he was quite unwell. Devon and Emily the Veterinary Nurses quickly spotted that he was not right (and who subsequently monitored him all night), and called out Mark the Vet who diagnosed and sorted him out. So a big thank you, especially to Devon, Emily, and Mark, and also to Ami (thank you for the Tea!), Marta and Laura, and all at Scott Dunns for looking after him so well, and going the extra mile (at least!!) to make him comfortable. He will be taking it easy for a week or so before getting back into work, and he is now quite perky!

User

Vets are super , always getting back to me, nothing ever too much trouble sadly let down by uncommunicative and at times rude admin staff who huff puff and sigh when asked the simplest of questions. Poor service and loss of paperwork on several occasions
