Sherlocks Kennels For Working Dogs

Sherlocks now supply kennels to many of the UK Police Forces, the MoD, Customs & Excise, Breeders, Charities, Fire & Rescue Services, Sporting Estates and many Stately Homes.

Tony Sherlock started the business in 1973 having had a background of working with animals. Bought up on a farm where his father kept all types of animals. His love for shooting, fishing and everything countryside lead to a course in animal husbandry at Brinsbury College in Sussex.

After leaving college his first job was as a gamekeeper at North Farm at Washington Sussex which at the time was a very well-regarded shooting estate which was running in tandem with Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust studying the decline of the grey partridge.

From here he went on to various estates in the UK and eventually took up a post in South Africa setting-up and running a game-breeding and conservation program. Living as a bachelor in the middle of the Karoo proved too much for a young man who eventually came back to Sussex and set up a game-rearing business.

This led to a small workshop being setup which is where the kennel business began when he was asked to build a block of kennels for a local estate. The kennel business continues to grow throughout the UK including many of the Highlands and Islands with exports to Europe.
