What a fantastic night. The whole place has been revamped and looks amazing. Sue you do an amazing job with all your team. Chris oshea you are fab. I miss this place terribly since I moved away. Love you all xxxx

We went for a family Christmas meet up meal and it was the first time any of us had been there. We chose it because we were meeting family off of the Fast Cat from the IOW and the pub is just opposite and looks attractive and inviting. It was very busy that night, but the staff were brilliant and we didn't have to wait long for our food which was all delicious and well cooked. They have a good choice of wines, ales and beers also and the ambience of the pub is olde worlde and cosy. They have large TV screens with sports on if anyone wants to watch, and we were also very impressed with the toilets which were very clean considering the amount of people in the pub, and had a very good decor. We will definitely be returning and will recommend this pub to anyone.

The lady that runs this place is an absolute diamond, looking forward to tea and footie tomorrow there x

Lots of choice on the menu including dishes for veggies. Lots of traditional pub food plus a few more unusual dishes. Reasonable prices, excellent value for money. Fish and chips excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good atmosphere, cheap beer. Really recommended.

I eat regularly at the Ship Anson and have always been well looked after by the staff and the food is always superb. I can honestly recommend this venue.

Had such a lovely birthday night out. All the family went for a meal which was amazing. The fish was huge! Nachos yummy! Very family friendly which was fantastic for a busy venue on a Friday night. Thank you so much Sue and Crew. We had a great night and will be back :)

Had a lovely chicken sandwich today couple of drinks .and even with the power cut all was well thanks to Paul he really looked after every one great staff think you guys when we call back to Portsmouth we are sure to call on a visit x

Had a lovely breakfast as went in just after they opened and there where six of use it was well served by friendly staff and everyone enjoyed there breakfast

Good selection of veggie options. Had the Louisiana Burrito recently and it was one of the better burritos I've had, particularly compared to other places in Portsmouth I've eaten.

Fantastic pub, fantastic staff but most of all fantastic landlady. I enjoyed my time working behind the bar there, atmosphere great, food lovely too. Haven’t been back yet since it reopened from its refurb but it is definitely on the cards. Well worth a visit!!! X x

Excellent food, atmosphere and staff - what more could you ask for!

Absolutely love coming back again and again to this little jewel in Portsmouth. Really friendly staff and great characters that I've got to meet over the past few years since one of best mates introduced me to this unique pub.

Great food, friendly staff, great views looking out the window when I was drinking my nice cold pint. Will definitely be back when I'm in the area

This is a place that I would go to again.

The staff were lovely, really made us feel valued as customers Food was great (despite the server putting one food order through wrong - but the meal was thoroughly enjoyed!)



What brought it down was wobbly chairs and toilets that aren't too great and no baby change, which is odd for a family setting.



I would love to give a 5, hopefully greeneking will give this place a much needed uplift.

Loads of atmosphere great location and service plus friendly staff. We went on a Friday night around 6pm, absolutely packed and very noisy. Both chose chicken with lemon and garlic sauce BUT made the mistake of pouring the sauce without tasting and was not good at all. Shame as a big favourite of ours. Something had gone sadly wrong with this mix. Bleurgh.... Chicken was served as generous half of a whole small chicken but as dry as a bone at one end and succulent at the other! How does that happen? Salad and chips fine plus delicious hot chocolate fudge cake. Beer fine and Muscat on offer was ok ish for fiver for two glasses. Sorry folks. Perhaps be better on a less busy night. Left before official karaoke started!!
