Here it is! Our Skye Wool tweed being hand-finished by Sgioba Luaidh Inbhirchluaidh. They did a great job and the tweed turned out absolutely beautiful. It took 3 hours, 30 waulking songs and 0 tea breaks to finish the fabric. Many thanks to the waulkers! Just making plans now of what to do with it. We'll keep you posted.
Getting ready!
Really looking forward to our tweed being hand-waulked by Sgioba Luaidh Inbhirchluaidh tomorrow! Waulking is the traditional method used for finishing fabrics. It involves hard graft, Gaelic singing and a bit of local news exchange (some might say gossip...?) Check out Lamb to Loom and Beyond for other events this week too! Great exhibition with lots of woolly things going on.

Couldn't resist another picture of our rainbow scarves and shawls. The weather is stunning up here at the moment and it makes for great light in the weaving shed.
A bit of a change after a whole roll of grey tweed :-) Colours naturally dyed on Skye. It's shawls and scarves - should be available online in about 8 weeks. Send us a message if you'd like us to reserve one for you.

We got a wonderful unexpected suprise when we happened upon a sign for Skye Weavers!
Down a small track you find a small workshop where the magic happens!
We were greeted by such a warm and welcoming couple who were more than happy to show us how the weaving worked!
what was even more interesting was the fact the loom is pedal powered!!
A lovely, quirky set up in a wonderful setting where you get a new appreciation for how much work and love goes into the production of their tweed!!
Very cool to stumble across your shop and be able to visit with you! Thanks so much for explaining how the loom is set up and describing how much work goes into your beautiful items. Jenn really enjoyed pedalling the loom! We'll cherish the throw we purchased for ever!

This was a highlight of our trip to Skye, lovely people, interesting process and equipment, fabulous colours and cloths so clearly inspired by nature and the ever changing colours of the highland landscape. So pleased to be taking a little bit of Skye Weavers magic home with us.
Thank you for my blanket and my husbands scarf. We enjoyed pedaling the loom, even my 83 year old mom did!
Perfect location on Skye! Always good for some memories and souvenirs :-)
Paid a visit couple of weeks ago-beautiful materials. My great grandfather was a handloom weaver. Pedalpower weaving was fascinating-thank you
My wife and I were lucky enough to find you during our recent visit to Skye...lovely meeting you, and I love my scarf and our tartan throw. Thank you also for letting me weave a centimetre of wooden cloth...quite a spectacular centimetre I hope you agree :-) We look forward to visiting Skye and yourselves again soon.
My family enjoyed a wonderful tour of this tiny mill. The drive over was full of beautiful scenery and I found the perfect gift to buy, for myself.
Lovely customer service followed by a parcel of gorgeous goodies! Desperately want another throw... just canât decide on the colour!
Loved our visit a few weeks ago....great seeing not one but two looms and the warping mill is a truly magical thing...too busy talking to take pictures so have to do that next time !! More power to your pedal and thanks so much for your time. Doug.
