Visited saturday night for the cocktail masterclass. It was brilliant and a bargain, bottle of prosecco, 2 cocktails a cocktail waiter to teach us plus a jager bomb at the stylish cocktail area.



Food afterwards was great and came really quick. We were planning on leaving at 11 but stayed until 2 as the dj was awesome and we couldn't stop dancing.

Slug and lettuce harpenden you were FANTASTIC our whole hen party. Every last one of us. Had the best time! We enjoyed games with your FABULOUS staff ALL who were lovely to us and who could clearly see we were having the most FUN!!! We would all come back over and over again for the same experience! And we're glad we could fill your dance floor with more moves than it's ever seen before! Other customers seemed to enjoy joining in with us too!! All in all a massive THANK YOU to you all

I love this place! Bar staff are so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The new app to order food and drinks on that is available is perfect for me as it means I don't have to worry about leaving my bags at the table or losing the table ��

Our cocktail waitress was amazing and even joined us on the dance floor for the end of the evening! Food was good and atmosphere was good ! Would definitely recommend for any celebration! I am recently engaged and will be doing the same for my hen do! ��

Had a great night with five other friends doing their cocktail making. Had a great guy Ajab overseeing the proceedings. He was really easy to get on with and patient! I must admit I wasn't expecting to go behind the bar on a Friday night to make the cocktails but the rest of the staff didn't mind! It's great value as you get Prosecco, two cocktails and a Jagerbomb, plus a really nice buffet for £25. Big thanks to Ajab as he'd worked a long shift and making cocktails with six women was probably the last thing he wanted to do!

Did a cocktail making class here last week with Stevie - was so much fun! Stevie was friendly, fun and a patient teacher (although maybe don't teach drunk girls to hit cocktail shakers with our elbows - we all have matching bruises!!) we really enjoyed our evening, and highly recommend the cocktail making classes. Plus, the buffet food we were served would have fed us twice over!

As (it seems) all the pubs in Harpenden are expensive, this was not cheap for beer, but we had a good quality nosh for less than a tenner each.

The highlight of our visit was the wonderful bar-staff. Both Bex and Zoe looked after us expertly.

Too be not very impressed, have been here a hell of of a lot of time but only clocked the prices last night. Bar staff very upset we would not buy double vodka's. I felt that we were being pushed to buy more than we wanted. I have drunk in Harpenden for around 22 years and will probably give it a miss from now on.

First time myself and my friends have visited this pub in Harpenden ( same pub in St Albans much nicer ) cant get over the fact theres only 2 toilets and whilst waiting it felt cramped.. staff didnt come across friendly and their was a hen party going on and they took over the tiny dance floor with their big circle which left myself and my friends unable to properly chat as we were squashed into a corner with a post and table in the way... def wont be returning and have told our friends if they want to go to The Slug and Lettuce their better off going St Albans where its much more classy and not full of 18 year olds

Asked for a table to be reserved for my friends birthday , where we were bringing along a cake and meeting for drinks to be told we would need to pay £100 deposit ! We didn't book a table and just turned up anyway , she then ordered and paid for a cocktail and wasn't told it was 2 for 1 , when we later asked the manager he informed her it was the customers responsibility to know it was 2 for 1 ! That's just bad customer service , we go to Turtle bay often and they do the same deal , if you ever order one drink they always explain it's 2 for 1 so would you like two !

The manager was walking around and realised it was her birthday and offered her the second drink free ( but without knowing it was her birthday to start with refused ! ) he later gave us foil for the cake and slightly redeemed himself , this is my 2nd visit I don't find it a friendly place and the music by the DJ is awful , if no one is dancing take the hint and change the music !! Wouldn't recommend

Shocked at how unorganised they were after paying a £50 deposit for a table and turning with them “having no idea” we was coming even tho I had been in two days previous to pay. Eventually after rude members of staff we got seated. To be told they were busy and had to squeeze ten people on two tables instead of the ten seater booth.. To then be told half way through the night there is no pornstar martini and THEN be told actually the girl said that because there was no premade juice and she couldn’t be bothered to make it from scratch. Only one member of staff was actually helpful and very polite

I remember a day long yesteryear when your establishment was frequented by noble men and duchesses of a higher caliber than the 'yute' of today.



Crossing the threshold my penny loafers were engulfed by the jäger bomb residue plastered across the establishment. I found this most inhibiting as I negotiated my way to the drinkery.



Jäger doth not stop my conquest for ale however the youth of the modern era does. As I saunter to the bar I am accosted by three juvenescence who demand that I levy their tax of a 'gret'.



Since my father and his fathers father have taught me so well I knew what taxation means, one does not have such issues with an account off shore.



I pondered.



My only resolve was to question such demands with the establishments gatekeepers.



As I approached the noble sirs it became apparent that they were friends of the youth and much like in years gone by they endorse their venue as an 'easy on the ID' location.



I find this most disturbing, hence my 1* review.



I shall not frequent again.

I am beyond disgusted with Slug and Lettuces treatment recently of an adult with a disability using disabled toilet, despite having disability card and radar key. #notalldisabilitiesarevisable #invisibledisability #disabilitydiscrimination

Dirty. Filthy dirty. I have given S&L the opportunity to respond but instead they deleted my post that showed the filth I wiped off a table. More dirt on the table than the floor.

Food average. Service below average. Cleanliness appalling. Environmental health informed.

Unless you've recently started hiring medical professionals as your staff members, (which of course I would find very unlikely), your staff does NOT get to decide who's disabled and who isn't, especially when a person can immediately produce documentation demonstrating that they are ( though they shouldn't HAVE TO).



Absolutely unacceptable. Please ensure the responsible staff members suffer serious consequences for their absolutely shameful behaviour.

Came here tonight, expecting to have a drink with friends only to find out that the bouncers openly admit they were letting 17 year olds in who were clearly there to cause trouble ( perhaps related to underage drinking)

Upon asking the bouncer on why the clientele had changed to an angry mob of young lads in hoodies and trainers was clearly told to f**k off as they were his mates and they had run of the place, swiftly left!! Wouldn't recommend as they clearly aren't bothered about holding a high standard... Luton maybe a better shout in comparison which says a lot!!

Avoid!!!!! Bar was empty hardly any customers but still had an hour wait for food. 3 of our meals came and was told the 4th wasn't as they didn't have all the ingredients so one person had to watch us eat.



Went to the bar to order a drink as the table service was really bad. Waited alone at the bar for 5 minutes and just walked away.



In total I was there for 2 and a half hours and I got a burger. I wasn't even asked if the food was okay.



Whoever the manager was on 27/12/2015 needs to sacked as they clearly don't know how to run a pub. Next time my family and I have a nice meal together I'd rather go to mcdonalds then that shambles of a pub.

As a local resident who frequents the Slug and Lettuce, I was extremely disappointed to hear from a friend of mine who suffers from MS that she was challenged by security staff on Friday night and told that she could not use the disabled toilet as she 'wasn't disabled'. She had a key for it and produced her disabled photo ID and her MS card explaining that she suffers from toilet urgency issues and when she tried to use the toilet the staff member pushed the door shut without looking at the cards and told her he 'didn't believe her'.



It's not the first time this has happened as in the summer one of the bar staff wouldn't give her a key for the toilet and told her she 'didn't look disabled'. She raised this issue at the time but it obviously fell on deaf ears!



Come on Slug and Lettuce - surely in this day and age your staff should be better trained than this and be aware that not every disability is visible? Disappointing to say the least and something which I hope will be addressed by the Management to ensure that all their staff have an appropriate level of disability awareness and training to ensure that this doesn't happen to anyone else in the future.

Actually appalled by the slug and lettuce Harpenden. I've never ever had to write an email of complaint in my life I'm usually one of those people who couldn't be bothered. But when I was attacked in the toilets last weekend and the bouncers refused to do their job and kick the offenders out, or even offer first aid I really can't let that one go.

I've emailed 3 times and had one reply to say that I would hear from the manager immediately and it has now been a week.

Disgusted and won't be stepping foot in there again.

Came here tonight, expecting to have a drink with friends only to find out that the bouncers openly admit they were letting 17 year olds in who were clearly there to cause trouble ( perhaps related to underage drinking)

Upon asking the bouncer on why the clientele had changed to an angry mob of young lads in hoodies and trainers was clearly told to f**k off as they were his mates and they had run of the place, swiftly left!! Wouldn't recommend as they clearly aren't bothered about holding a high standard... Luton maybe a better shout in comparison which says a lot!!

Avoid!!!!! Bar was empty hardly any customers but still had an hour wait for food. 3 of our meals came and was told the 4th wasn't as they didn't have all the ingredients so one person had to watch us eat.



Went to the bar to order a drink as the table service was really bad. Waited alone at the bar for 5 minutes and just walked away.



In total I was there for 2 and a half hours and I got a burger. I wasn't even asked if the food was okay.



Whoever the manager was on 27/12/2015 needs to sacked as they clearly don't know how to run a pub. Next time my family and I have a nice meal together I'd rather go to mcdonalds then that shambles of a pub.

As a local resident who frequents the Slug and Lettuce, I was extremely disappointed to hear from a friend of mine who suffers from MS that she was challenged by security staff on Friday night and told that she could not use the disabled toilet as she 'wasn't disabled'. She had a key for it and produced her disabled photo ID and her MS card explaining that she suffers from toilet urgency issues and when she tried to use the toilet the staff member pushed the door shut without looking at the cards and told her he 'didn't believe her'.



It's not the first time this has happened as in the summer one of the bar staff wouldn't give her a key for the toilet and told her she 'didn't look disabled'. She raised this issue at the time but it obviously fell on deaf ears!



Come on Slug and Lettuce - surely in this day and age your staff should be better trained than this and be aware that not every disability is visible? Disappointing to say the least and something which I hope will be addressed by the Management to ensure that all their staff have an appropriate level of disability awareness and training to ensure that this doesn't happen to anyone else in the future.

Actually appalled by the slug and lettuce Harpenden. I've never ever had to write an email of complaint in my life I'm usually one of those people who couldn't be bothered. But when I was attacked in the toilets last weekend and the bouncers refused to do their job and kick the offenders out, or even offer first aid I really can't let that one go.

I've emailed 3 times and had one reply to say that I would hear from the manager immediately and it has now been a week.

Disgusted and won't be stepping foot in there again.

Visited saturday night for the cocktail masterclass. It was brilliant and a bargain, bottle of prosecco, 2 cocktails a cocktail waiter to teach us plus a jager bomb at the stylish cocktail area.



Food afterwards was great and came really quick. We were planning on leaving at 11 but stayed until 2 as the dj was awesome and we couldn't stop dancing.

Slug and lettuce harpenden you were FANTASTIC our whole hen party. Every last one of us. Had the best time! We enjoyed games with your FABULOUS staff ALL who were lovely to us and who could clearly see we were having the most FUN!!! We would all come back over and over again for the same experience! And we're glad we could fill your dance floor with more moves than it's ever seen before! Other customers seemed to enjoy joining in with us too!! All in all a massive THANK YOU to you all

I love this place! Bar staff are so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The new app to order food and drinks on that is available is perfect for me as it means I don't have to worry about leaving my bags at the table or losing the table ��

Our cocktail waitress was amazing and even joined us on the dance floor for the end of the evening! Food was good and atmosphere was good ! Would definitely recommend for any celebration! I am recently engaged and will be doing the same for my hen do! ��

Had a great night with five other friends doing their cocktail making. Had a great guy Ajab overseeing the proceedings. He was really easy to get on with and patient! I must admit I wasn't expecting to go behind the bar on a Friday night to make the cocktails but the rest of the staff didn't mind! It's great value as you get Prosecco, two cocktails and a Jagerbomb, plus a really nice buffet for £25. Big thanks to Ajab as he'd worked a long shift and making cocktails with six women was probably the last thing he wanted to do!

Did a cocktail making class here last week with Stevie - was so much fun! Stevie was friendly, fun and a patient teacher (although maybe don't teach drunk girls to hit cocktail shakers with our elbows - we all have matching bruises!!) we really enjoyed our evening, and highly recommend the cocktail making classes. Plus, the buffet food we were served would have fed us twice over!

As (it seems) all the pubs in Harpenden are expensive, this was not cheap for beer, but we had a good quality nosh for less than a tenner each.

The highlight of our visit was the wonderful bar-staff. Both Bex and Zoe looked after us expertly.

Too be not very impressed, have been here a hell of of a lot of time but only clocked the prices last night. Bar staff very upset we would not buy double vodka's. I felt that we were being pushed to buy more than we wanted. I have drunk in Harpenden for around 22 years and will probably give it a miss from now on.

First time myself and my friends have visited this pub in Harpenden ( same pub in St Albans much nicer ) cant get over the fact theres only 2 toilets and whilst waiting it felt cramped.. staff didnt come across friendly and their was a hen party going on and they took over the tiny dance floor with their big circle which left myself and my friends unable to properly chat as we were squashed into a corner with a post and table in the way... def wont be returning and have told our friends if they want to go to The Slug and Lettuce their better off going St Albans where its much more classy and not full of 18 year olds

Asked for a table to be reserved for my friends birthday , where we were bringing along a cake and meeting for drinks to be told we would need to pay £100 deposit ! We didn't book a table and just turned up anyway , she then ordered and paid for a cocktail and wasn't told it was 2 for 1 , when we later asked the manager he informed her it was the customers responsibility to know it was 2 for 1 ! That's just bad customer service , we go to Turtle bay often and they do the same deal , if you ever order one drink they always explain it's 2 for 1 so would you like two !

The manager was walking around and realised it was her birthday and offered her the second drink free ( but without knowing it was her birthday to start with refused ! ) he later gave us foil for the cake and slightly redeemed himself , this is my 2nd visit I don't find it a friendly place and the music by the DJ is awful , if no one is dancing take the hint and change the music !! Shocked at how unorganised they were after paying a £50 deposit for a table and turning with them “having no idea” we was coming even tho I had been in two days previous to pay. Eventually after rude members of staff we got seated. To be told they were busy and had to squeeze ten people on two tables instead of the ten seater booth.. To then be told half way through the night there is no pornstar martini and THEN be told actually the girl said that because there was no premade juice and she couldn’t be bothered to make it from scratch. Only one member of staff was actually helpful and very polite

I am not a man of Hertfordshire I am a gentleman of Harpenden and my experience here; ''twas most loathsome.



I remember a day long yesteryear when your establishment was frequented by noble men and duchesses of a higher caliber than the 'yute' of today.



Crossing the threshold my penny loafers were engulfed by the jäger bomb residue plastered across the establishment. I found this most inhibiting as I negotiated my way to the drinkery.



Jäger doth not stop my conquest for ale however the youth of the modern era does. As I saunter to the bar I am accosted by three juvenescence who demand that I levy their tax of a 'gret'.



Since my father and his fathers father have taught me so well I knew what taxation means, one does not have such issues with an account off shore.



I pondered.



My only resolve was to question such demands with the establishments gatekeepers.



As I approached the noble sirs it became apparent that they were friends of the youth and much like in years gone by they endorse their venue as an 'easy on the ID' location.



I find this most disturbing, hence my 1* review.



I shall not frequent again.

Having read on our local network of the experience of a local lady with MS. I am beyond disgusted with Slug and Lettuces treatment recently of an adult with a disability using disabled toilet, despite having disability card and radar key. #notalldisabilitiesarevisable #invisibledisability #disabilitydiscrimination

Dirty. Filthy dirty. I have given S&L the opportunity to respond but instead they deleted my post that showed the filth I wiped off a table. More dirt on the table than the floor.
