You don't have to be religious to appreciate the importance of St Augustine's. From the world-famous scriptorium (known throughout Christendom) to the very bricks oand stones of the walls (cobbled together from all time periods up until the construction), you get an insight into the introduction of Christianity to these islands.

This is where St. Augustine set up the church & abbey in bringing Christianity to the British Isles. It is an excellent historical exhibition with an audio guide that is well produced & very interesting. Add this spot to your pilgrimage to Canterbury. Well worth the time!!

Substantial ruins of a church building once as great as Canterbury cathedral. The museum is brilliant and a must visit.

My son has just got married at S A A in Westgate and I must say we could not have ask for more. Everyone was absolutely wonderful and made you feel that your wedding was "very special" and not like.. oh its just another wedding to get through. Everything was very well organised and professionally executed but in very friendly and caring way. Nothing was to much trouble for them and you felt like they wanted it to be the greatest day ever, just like we did. So thank you all very every much for helping to make a very stress full day run like clockwork. Alison Carter.

Last visited nearly 18 months ago. This time we enjoyed the 3D video reconstruction, the work of UKC students. The peace is amazing and you can almost feel what it was like before Henry VIII's rift with Rome.

It's a lovely place to visit the remains from Roman times and the build throughout history make it a worthwhile visit alone. The significance of the site just adds to the visit. The virtual reality tour is good too.

Great site and well looked after by the English heritage

Beautiful, tranquil surroundings in the center of Canterbury

User

A very tranquil and historic place to visit.

Lots of early history dating back to the 1st Kent Kings.

User

A must visit. Beautiful architecture which takes you back in time.

User

Very interesting, learned a lot from the hand held commentary phone. Such a shame there is nowhere to get refreshments, especially on such a hot day.

Took the kids to St Augustine's Abbey and they loved it, even though it was cold and wet. They enjoyed the interactive 3D virtual goggles which showed how the Abbey looked. The audio guide was very informative.

Would go back again on a sunny day.

Nice and detail explanation! However, that site was almost demolished by previous event, not much to see compared with other England heritage sites!
