Last week we hosted a private viewing of the exhibition 'John Ruskin: The Power of Seeing' at Two Temple Place, London. It was a very successful event with 60 St Hugh’s alumni and their guests in attendance, marking 200 years since Ruskin’s birth and celebrating his lasting legacy.
We would like to extend our gratitude to the distinguished speaker and St Hugh’s alumna Professor Dinah Birch CBE (English Language & Literature, 1971) for opening the evening with her lecture entitled, "'A Thunderbolt in Mine Eye": Ruskin, Oxford and Women.'

On Saturday we marked the centenary of the planting in 1919 of the beautiful magnolia tree in the College gardens, which commemorates the end of the First World War.
We were delighted to welcome back alumna Kate Glover FRSA (Modern History, 1965), and the Historia Theatre Company.

We’re absolutely delighted to have this painstakingly crafted recreation of a lost suffrage banner on display at St Hugh’s. Our College and its members have a long, proud history of involvement with the movement.
