One of our patients had personally experienced social misconceptions and challenging behaviour when it came to her gender.
As a result of a conversation we had with Katie, we invited her to meet our team and educate us further on issues for transgender patients. She was open and honest in a session that enabled members of staff to ask questions.
Thanks to Katie, our members of staff are now more aware of sensitivities and needs of transgender patients. Individual care is about looking at the patient holistically, and that is what we always strive to do, to the highest standard.

Today our National Health Service turns 70.
Today is therefore another perfect opportunity to celebrate and appreciate the vital role the service plays in our lives, and recognise and thank our extraordinary NHS colleagues – the everyday heroes – who are there to guide, support and care for us, day in, day out.
