Here's a blast from the past...
We were doing a bit of sorting out and came across lots of old photos. Here's a picture of the original Cafe by the Lake building being sited back in 2003 compared to the exact same part of the building today.

What a beautiful place to come too. Can’t believe I haven’t been before. We had a little walk and then went to the cafe for lunch. The staff were very attentive and the food was yummy. The inside where we sat was so relaxing and we all had a really lovely time.

User

The park was clean and tidy, staff are always friendly and willing to help with any problems you have. toilets are well maintained and most of all WARM. 👍🏻

Always a pleasure to stay here. We tried a family pod for the first time and had the most relaxing time. The insulation in those things is amazing as we had to turn the heatin off!

We will definitely be visiting again soon. And if you have a chanc to visit the Cafe by the Lake, it’s not to be missed. The whole experience was fantastic 👍🏻

Just spent a fab 4 days of half term in the gorgeously appointed Swallows Hide Safari Tent with our two young sons. Cosy, homely and we LOVED the log burner and electric blankets in the freezing temperatures! Staff were brilliant, the shower block is modern, warm and always immaculately clean, and the Cafe a lovely space of respite too. A relaxing family getaway.

User

It was our first visit and popped in for couple hours. We had a lovely walk in the sunshine and cold beer in the cafe.

Will definitely return

User

I go here to fish with the kids. The lakes are beautiful the fish are well kept. The people at Sumners are lovely and very helpful. The food at the restaurant is lovely, not badly priced. I have added the fish that we pulled out of the match lake. Happy fisher's.

I can't wait to hire the safari tent by the main lake

User

Heard a lot about this place and wasn’t disappointed. I took my friend to the cafe for lunch. Great service from Emily (I think!) and a lovely lunch overlooking the lake. I will be returning soon as!

User

User

Excellent lunch today, staff very attentive, steak pie, veg and mash was one of the best we've eaten, our compliments to the chef and kitchen staff for lovely food. Warm and cosy atmosphere.

Stayed in lodge could of been cleaner wood rotten round bottom of patio doors bad smell from bathroom fishing was dissapointing as work had been done on new stageing ect full week 2 rods morning to 9 at night was recommended to fish match lake did 4hrs and had 9 carp over 10lb then another 5 hrs 18 carp biggest 15lb 3 overall lovely place very clean dissapointing lodge for price

User

Overall a really lovely stay. However we had a broken chair (that was replaced immediately) the garden area was overgrown and had stinging nettles so you had to be careful not to get stung! The nettles were cut back after we mentioned it. Our fridge didn’t work, so our milk went off quite quickly! The fridge was looked at but not replaced. The shepherds hut was perfectly positioned and was cute and cosy.

User

Great place this is our second time camping here. Didn't think it was as clean this time though, I know it rained but I am sure the showers and toilets were cleaned twice a day whereas this week it was just once and it really needed attending to at least twice. Kids love the park and cycling round the lake on their own.

User

Stayed for the weekend, the campsite itself is lovely and very well maintained. I would stay again as the site was quiet and pitches a decent size.

The shower however was little more than a trickle and turned off every every few seconds, in part because I was having to get so close to the sensor to get any water on me, which was very frustrating.

We went for breakfast at the cafe this morning, and was advised there was a 30 minute wait. Fair enough as it was a little busy. I asked if it was possible to have some toast for my 2&4 year old to come sooner and was told that was not possible as the tickets fall in line and nothing can be rushed through. Also fair enough as it was busy and they have to keep things flowing. However, we then waited an hour for our food, (our friends that ordered just before us had eaten theirs and had the table cleared before we even saw ours!) and the people that were behind me in the queue got their food before we did, so I was a bit miffed that we’d been refused 2 slices of toast. Everyone was fed up with waiting by the time the food arrived and when it did half my breakfast was warm and not hot. Everyone I know raves about the cafe here but I left feeling pretty disappointed with the food and service. A waste of £35 and I won’t be rushing back to the cafe.
