With an increase in high temperatures, remember to stay safe when going outside during periods of hot weather by applying sunscreen and drinking plenty of water. Take a look at the guidance published by Public Health England (PHE). https://www.surreyandsussex.nhs.uk/sash-r eminds-local-peop…/

Would like to say how fantastic A&E were last night. Always find ESH very good. Last night though my daughter (classed now as an adult) was checked in, examined, X-ray’d, diagnosed and discharged within AN HOUR!!! Thank you everyone at ESH for your continued hard work! #welldoneNHS, #creditwherecreditisdue

Was admitted to East Surrey Hospital (Holmwood ward) with chest pains. After multiple tests it was proved that my heart was ok (phew). I would like to give a big shout out to all the staff on that ward. Everyone from the cleaners up were friendly and helpful and they made my brief stay a lot easier than I had a right to expect it to be.

You are all bloody marvellous !!

Visiting my family here in Sussex as a 70th birthday present from South Africa I was taken down by very bad flu and admitted to East Surrey hospital this last Wednesday which was diagnosed as Pneumonia. During my three day stay first in admittance ward through to A&E then Godstone unit I was treated with the utmost care and efficiency. Having not been a hospital patient since childbirth days 37 years ago I was so impressed with the service, dedication and friendliness of all who attended to me. A huge thank you for your brilliant care, your staff is a credit to the medical industry and sure to be rated amongst the top providers. Not forgetting the food deliveries thanks for the great food. Regards Livvy Simpson, South Africa

The children's A&E are amazing! The nurses work tirelessly with little thanks and the Drs were thorough and kind.

Ended up there with Benjamin yesterday with breathing trouble again(home with meds at 1am) they were packed to the rafters and so over stretched but still caring and patient and on it! Thank you all xxx

User

Thank you so much to the lovely staff in A+E who saw and looked after my elderly mother today. All of the staff we came into contact with were kind and showed real care about what they do. Even though mum is quite deaf, she was treated with the utmost care and respect-we cannot thank you all enough!

User

Spent a few hours here yesterday morning following loosing my footing and fracturing my ankle. I would like to give jet thanks to the superb A & E staff especially Dr Amy 𝚁ichardson who was lovely. From reception to the plaster room with X-rays in between I felt at ease in this professional environment. The staff are over worked and there are a lot of people attending A & E but they kept smiling through and are a credit to the NHS. Well done East Surrey. 5* care.

User

My son passed out and split his chin and sustained slight concussion, the paediatric a&e team although immensely under pressure as it was a very busy department were extremely professional helpful and friendly. Thank you to all the staff that dealt with him on Tuesday night.

I would like to say thank you for looking after my husband on Wednesday evening, our GP sent him straight to East Surrey Hospital as his breathing was laboured and he really wasn't very well. He was offered an ambulance but declined as I had the car and was more than capable of driving him. On his arrival at the Kingsfold unit he was greeted warmly and shown to the waiting room and offered a coffee. Within 5 minutes a the triage nurse called him into a private room and after a few questions etc etc he was thoroughly checked over and then sent for a chest x-ray. Once back on the ward he was seen by a very informative junior doctor who explained what she thought was wrong but she would like a consultant to double check. Along came a lovely Spanish doctor who confirmed that my husband had Aussie Flu, he was prescribed a course on antibiotics and told to return to the same unit if things hadn't improved within 3 days. From visiting our GP to attending the hospital we were both treated with courtesy and contrary to general opinion the hospital was calm and extremely organised. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. I'm fed up reading and listening to alarming news stories . I'm sure there are some hospitals struggling to cope, alas the government nor the hospitals and staff can foresee every epidemic. We should be proud of our NHS service it does a wonderful job. Thank you for the wonderful service you provide to me and my family .

User

I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff in the Paediatric unit that helped my 1yr old daughter Jessica last week. It was a very stressful, emotional and tiring time. Every member of staff during our 5 day stay were brilliant, with us as parents and with Jessica. Also a special thank you to Sian, who took the time with us during our evening visits and made her smile a lot with animal noises!

User

I wanted to commend the staf at East Surrey Hospital for their support to my mother during her illness, and to the family. This has been a difficult time for us but they've tried really hard to keep ahead of a terrifying and changeable illness, and tolerate all of our questions.

Particular commendations for your staff on AMU and Tilgate.

Feels weird to click the I loved it option, this week has been the worst of our lives for me and many family members. Abuela Pepa (my nan), the most incredible person in all the world, spent her last days at East Surrey hospital. She was provided with an incredible standard of care. I'm am in awe of just how wonderful each and every single staff member was. The amount of care and compassion was phenomenal. They made the worst times easier, they did everything they could to make her and every family member feel better. Even the little things like when noticing one of us was upset, so sitting with us and providing words of wisdom. When she passed away a nurse came in to check on us, realised what had happened, and instead of leaving us to cry, she came in and sat with us and held my nans hand. I can't thank this hospital and the staff enough for what have done over the last few days for us and our Pepa

After being admitted on Friday 13th April, with severe lower bowl pain. Right from when the paramedics arrived, through A&E and then onto the Leigh Ward, I was treated with compassion and respect. It was obvious that the clinical and ancillary staff were working very hard and over stretched. But they were always concerned about there roles, which reassured me.

I am now back home, resting and taking antibiotics. The follow up care has also been good, through telephone and letter correspondence. My follow up test has been scheduled to the hospital closer to me, making it easier to get to.

Thank you again to all the staff, it is just a shame that they are not rewarded properly for the sterling jobs they do.

User

Thank you to all the staff at East Surrey hospital for treating me on 29 June after I fell on Box Hill and broke my right ankle and wrist. The staff in A&E were brilliant, really kind and treated me to make me more comfortable. I was then transferred to Woodland Ward where I stayed for just over a week. The staff on the ward were very friendly and professional. The only downside was that I had to wait until Wednesday 4 July for the operations that I needed. I was then sent home on Sunday 8 July. Thank you again to all the staff that looked after me during my stay, I really appreciate the care you gave me.

My 20 year old Son was admitted to Charlwood ward on Friday morning after a one night stay on Capel ward.

I cannot thank all of the staff on the ward enough for looking after my Son so far. The housekeeping staff have been friendly and polite, the lovely ladies that we have met offering hot drinks and distributing and collecting menus have all be friendly and polite also.

The nursing staff have been looking after him very well and are also friendly (when they have time for a quick chat!)

A big thank you to the Junior Doctor that we met on Kingsfold ward who looked after us very well and kept us informed as much as he could and a special big thank you to the kind Consultant who thank goodness made the decision to admit my Son to try and get to the bottom of his problems (after several trips backwards and forwards to A&E and the GP surgery!)

I work at the hospital but very rarely get to see the excellent job that the other staff do.

A big thank you to all and keep up the good work!

I was not too impressed with my experience here unfortunately. The airport sent me to A&E after becoming unwell on a flight home from Spain. I politely enquired with the receptionist as to how long the waiting time would be. She was rather rude and pointed me to the screen. I explained I knew it was up there but it wasn’t at all accurate. Then she tried to tell me I had already been seen by a doctor. The fact I had lost my hearing didn’t help. When I eventually saw a GP he too was also rather rude in response to my some of my questions and made me feel a lot worse than I was already feeling. Would not recommend this department to anyone.

User

absolutely disgusted with the service recieved today. my husband has been waiting on a nose operation for over a year now, a very compassionate, caring and understanding consultant arranged for this op to go ahead whilst taking into account ALL issues raised and aired by my husband. absolutely thrilled and in hope that he by next week would be living a normal healthy lifestyle; his bubble was burst today by a very unprofessional consultant no.2! she has just returned from maternity and a week before his op has called him in under the impression that he was going in for another pre op assesement and said this is my field that i specialise in, i will not be allowing this op to go ahead, the other consultant you spoke to is not able to or in the position to offer or perform this op for you. infact he is a locum and gone back to his country ive never even met him... soooo you have people working for you who basically have no to authority to make these calls?? no doesnt make sense does it. your not dealing and living with the psychological/life changing impacts of this daily. my belief in the system has absolutely shattered and this is something coming from a trainee NHS nurse! will be taking further for sure.

My daughter was admitted last night with appendicitis we were told that she would have her operation today the 18th of July 2018, she is in a lot of pain and has been nil by mouth this morning she was told she would have her op this afternoon at 15.30 today she was told the op was cancelled than at 15.55 it was back ON!! it's now 17.45 and she is still waiting and no one is bothered, what are you doing East Surrey she has been waiting 20 Hours now how much longer.

Also on a different note lastnight at the East entrance there was a FOX inside the foyer eating out of a rubbish bag if I had a choice my daughter would not be in East Surrey.
