Taste Tibet

About Taste Tibet

Oxford's first Tibetan food stall, serving the freshest momo dumplings, curry, and Tibetan chai tea. Regular markets, festivals, events, and private hire.

Taste Tibet Description

Recommended by The Guardian in its 2014 Top Ten Budget Restaurants and Cafes in Oxford, as well as by the BBC Good Food Magazine, Taste Tibet is the first and only Tibetan food business in Oxford, UK.

We bring the freshest and most authentic Tibetan cuisine to markets, festivals, college balls and private events in Oxford and the surrounding area.

Our regular pitch is at Gloucester Green Market in Oxford City Centre. We are currently there Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Our menu includes Tibetan momo dumplings, Himalayan curries, and a wicked Tibetan chai tea.

Our chilli sauce contains peppercorns from our hometown in Tibet. Other ingredients are home-grown or locally sourced.

Our food is served in compostable packaging and we are committed to the lowest possible environmental footprint.

We serve out of our unique and beautiful Tibetan tent. See our website www. tastetibet.com for pictures and info!

Please get in touch if you would like to hire us for your special event.

Did you know that the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford has been shortlisted for Museum of the Year? The judges visited the museum today and Taste Tibet provided the lunch. Chef Yeshi pulled out all the stops, serving butter tea in this beautiful pot from Tibet, and dishing out tsampa and chilli dips using all the wares from home. Much enjoyed - thanks for having us Oxford University Museum of Natural History!

In Tibet, there is a whole month every year when people set out to do good deeds. It's an excellent month for animals - people typically avoid eating meat during this time, and some even set free animals intended for slaughter. Read about the month of Saga Dawa in this week's blog, and come and see us in Gloucester Green market tomorrow, Weds, for some meat-free treats: https://www.tastetibet.com/single-p‚Ķ/‚Ä ¶/06/11/A-No-Meat-Month

All sorts of comedowns are possible after a festival but recovery time is arguably longest when you have catered at two simultaneously. Grateful for the love and support of the little ones, who were with us for ten hours of psychedelic mayhem yesterday at Oxford‚Äôs OddBall Festival ūüćĄūüėļ

Tibet is generally known as a monastic society, but it turns out that there is amazing business acumen here too. In our latest blog post, read about Chef Yeshi's entrepreneurial beginnings, and enjoy a brief history of commerce in Tibet: https://www.tastetibet.com/…/…/05/21/ The-Tibetan-Businessman
