Great place to eat by the river.
Fantastic afternoon yesterday sitting outside on lovely sunny day ordered the classic combo more than enough for the 2 of us and it was absolutely lovely and great vale for money definitely will be back.
Came here for some lunch and was quite busy on a warm day...however we ordered and then a complimentary bread board came which was really lovely and unexpected then our food came really quickly afterwards !! The food was absolutely lovy however we jus wished the portions were a little bigger for the cost . Overall i would go back tomorrow :)
Best place I have ever eaten!! Always has a great Menu and the staff are always lovely and attentive! Never had a bad experience and always try and go on special occasions. I wouldn't however go when the rugby is on as the tele ruins the atmosphere!
A pleasent meal, nice & pleasent service & dog friendly too, will be back.
Really lovely little tucked away place on the Thames, can get very busy when the sun is out. And also a nice little stroll locally to work your food off.
Lovely afternoon lunch food was lovely, but the baileys coffee was a bit small for what u pay, should of been put in a long glass not a small wine glass.
Food great. Service very poor (outside at least). Despite repeated requests to place order, when we then went inside to place the order, we were told the kitchen was closed for 15 mins. They then said they would send someone in 5 mins (no one arrived so we intercepted a waitress). Order for drinks taken, not delivered but added to bill. Sorry - food all good but really let down by the service.
Nice place with quite a good choice of drinks.... waited for the menu but were advised as short staffed they will send one of the restaurant staff to come to us. Waited a long time ... no one came. So we had our g&t £20 for 2 drinks.... left.
Great location, nicely refurbed, good food, nice drink and friendly enough staff but the price point is too high. Especially as I've visited its sister restaurant about 5 miles away closer into London which is about £2 a dish cheaper for identical menu. Why?
Cosy looking pub in a great location right on the river. We were expecting great fresh cooked food, but were disappointed. We were served poorly put together microwave food. Will be looking for an alternative nearby.
Stopped by for food and a beer at 5.oopm on sat . Waited for table outside then told No food being served til after 6.30!! Due to big party upstairs. No signs explaining that and poor attitude. Won't be going back .
Nicely decorated and clean pub friendly staff but had to wait over an hour for roast dinner as it was busy which was ok as they told us but when it came looked very sorry for itself and wasn’t even hot , vegetables raw soft rosst potatoes Can’t really see how that took over an hour to arrive ...
Lovely place but wouldn’t go on a Sunday again. Limited staff on duty, customers and staff stressed. Apparently Sunday mornings are inundated with coffee orders that the machine is not equipped to deal with. This made lunches late as staff busy making coffees and breakfast was stopped early due to roast dinners. When we finally got our lunch order they got my Son’s wrong despite being clear about his allergies and the member of staff treble checking. I ordered cheese and biscuits and was told I hadn’t ordered or paid for it. Went back inside so they could check my receipt and I had in fact ordered and paid for it! If breakfast stops earlier there should be a sign somewhere and due to lack of staff clearing tables we were surrounded by wasps on previous customers plates! We have actually been for lunch before and chad the chicken and Brie pie. The inside was lovely but the pastry on top rock hard, vegetables under cooked but red wine gravy and chips delicious
2 Stars for the location and the air conditioning inside ... service was slow and food was mediocre ... the waitress couldn’t wait to clear the tables and even took a drink that wasn’t finished ...,and your barmaid could crack a smile occasionally !!! You need to up your game there’s plenty of other good places for lunch !!
What can I say how can a fantastic pub be totally ruined yes it looks nice but I had Sunday lunch yesterday and literally gave the food back it was over cooked stale and the roast pork was bacon yes bacon I have proof. So sad it's a great pub and was unique
Went for a walk down by the river last night and made the mistake of visiting The Anglers. Prices and poor quality food aside, staff attitude behind the bar was a shocker. One of the bar staff clearly doesn't enjoy bar work and demonstrated this by employing rude and disrespectful behaviour towards new customers.
Unfortunately, this was not his fault as he was only following an example led by the manager. Reading the comments below, I can see that this is not the first time that this manager has come under fire for unacceptable behaviour towards his customers.
In short, a rude and unpleasant little man who needs to be replaced with someone who understands people and knows how to communicate with them. A basic requirement that shouldn't require training.
Note to brewery; new management, new menu, new prices and new attitude please.
Terrible attitude by the manager, who refused to serve a group of us because I made a constructive criticism on how to serve a drink. We were absolutely reasonable and he just acted in a very unprofessional way. After many years of visiting the place I will, very sadly, have to go to the Swan next door from now on, which is a warm and welcoming place.
Lovely place but avoid on sunny days.So obviously under staffed.Service very very slow, even had to queue up to ten mins to get served. The food seemed like it was sitting for a long time before it was taken out.Not a great experience.
