You are spoilt for choice for good pubs in Brighton but this still ranks as one of my favourites. A nice choice of food, good beers (still has ESB on draught which is hard to find in my part of the world) friendly staff and a nice mix of customers. Decor is proper pub, a bit quirky and all the better for it.

User

Yet another lunch in the basket makers. It is the first pub my granddaughter heads for when we arrive in Brighton. Always friendly, good beer and great food.

User

Well tbf 5s just doesn't quite cut it... A life long favourite, from my first roast there with a 4 decade regular, at the age of 9, to the blue cheese oozy bacon chips 9 days ago, this is one lil gem that will never you down! Basket makers, I salute u, u absolute beauty!! Just so friggin tasty X

User

Visited for the first time as we were in the the area and were very impressed by the quality of the ale and food. The staff were very friendly and we would definitely reccomend. For those who prefer an old fashioned traditional pub, you will not go wrong here

User

Top pub, top guvnor, top food! Always been good and still one of the best in Brighton 👍🏻

User

This is the ONLY pub I've been to on EVERY visit to Brighton. Sure I go to others when we're in town but to me the Basketmakers is synonymous with Brighton. Always good beers well kept, friendly service and busy without being rammed. Hope I haven't gone and spoiled it with this review

This is a brilliant, no-frills pub hidden away down a back street. It looks pretty unassuming from the outside but go in and the place is usually heaving with diners and drinkers. We had haddock and chips with home-made mayo and mushy peas and delicious chips. The staff are friendly and cheerful and the atmosphere just like the pubs I remember from my youth ... but about 100% better.

User

Proper pub with great beer selection and decent pub food too. Usually very busy but certainly not touristy and very friendly.

User

One of the best Sunday roasts that i've ever eaten, really great pub would definitely recommend visiting.

User

My fiancé and I were in two weeks ago on October 5th with friends for a lovely Sunday afternoon meal. We both had the Tunbridge Wells Roast Beef. I've been living in the UK for six months, and this was by far the most delicious Sunday Roast I've had. Sooo yummy! The staff was very lovely, too. We can't wait to go back! :)

User

It's the Basketmakers, the best Sunday Roast in Brighton, and a damn good weekday lunch too. HSB is the best beer as well.

User

It's grout they have equality of the sexes, in terms of toilet facilities.

User

Introduced my sisters to the pub yesterday so it's a first for them ! And as in the past I wasn't disappointed we had the seafood platter Omg was amazing ! We will all back 🍷

User

Had a couple of pints in here yesterday. OK 3. Perfect. Cottage Pie, kale and red cabbage. Lovely staff, lovely pub. Recommended to me while drinking in the wonderful Lewes Arms in, surprisingly, Lewes. Back today as the first pub before I explore West Brighton.

User

Great pub we had not found before. Lots of lovely real and with good pub grub.

User

Great beer and great food. Cosy pub and always our favourite when in Brighton.

User

Excellent atmosphere and friendly staff

User

Congratulations on the best battered halloumi, chips and mushy peas I’ve ever had! The batter was so good. Chips were great. Love this pub. Hadn’t been for ages.

User

Best roast I’ve ever had! Lovely relaxed cosy pub and the staff are all lovely
