The Benefice of the Piddle Valley, Hilton, Cheselbourne and Melcombe Horsey is a collection of six parishes lying in two valleys to the north of Dorchester. The western of those two valleys is the Piddle Valley comprises three parishes: Alton Pancras, Piddletrenthide and Piddlehinton together with the hamlets of Plush and Whitelackington. The other three parishes lie in the Chesel valley and include the hamlets of Pleck, Higher Ansty and Ansty, Melcombe Bingham and Higher Melcombe.
We intend to use this page to provide basic information about what is going on in the benefice.

Today at the Communion service in Alton Pancras, Fr. Roger reminded us that 'we are the salt'; human 'beings' , not human 'doings' and not to hide our light under a bushel. Last service of the day is Sung Evening Prayer at Piddlehinton 6pm. Have a peaceful Sunday.
Great fun was had at Messy church this afternoon at All Saints Church, Piddletrenthide. With the help of Amy and Sue, we explored through craft the theme of love, hope and friendship; "love one another as I have loved you" (John 13). We worked our way through valentine's wreaths with the names of our loved ones written in the hearts, candle shaped stain glass windows, pebbles to draw, on colouring sheets and origami snowdrops. As St Valentine is the patron saint of bee keepers, we also made bees from heart shapes. After a story, lighting of candles and simple prayers, we enjoyed hotdogs and crepes. Next session will be April and is open to all ages, 0~100 yrs 😁❤️🙏 keep an eye out for the date.

Fr. Roger and I have supported this charity, based in a Weymouth, for many years. We are grateful to the Piddle Inn for allowing us to take left over food from functions to the Lantern Trust. On occasions where we can't get to the lantern, we distribute this food to the homeless in dorchester.
All our 6 churches also act as collection points for Foodbank Donations, which we deliver to the Dorford Centre in Dorchester.
Thursday 23rd January at 9am ~ Morning Prayer Coffee and a Chat with the Rector at All Saints Piddletrenthide.
