We had our office team's Xmas meal here choosing from the festive lunch menu. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it, we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Would definitely come here again

User

Walked to the pub through Yoells Copse and enjoyed a delicious Ploughman’s, the nicest we’ve ever had. Perfect, crispy homemade scotch egg, ham, cheese and a selection of delicious pickles and chutneys with wedges of brown bread and butter. Yummy. Highly recommended.

User

Twenty of us visited on Sunday for a family get together and despite being full (always a good sign), the service at the bar and at the table was great, with plenty of staff. The roast dinners and platters all came out together and were beautifully prepared and served, with very generous portions. I had the roast lamb and it was beautiful, while the children’s meals were generous and delicious. We have been there several times for family get togethers and have never been disappointed. Definitely worth driving from Bournemouth for!

User

To celebrate the end of term, a friend and I booked an afternoon tea with a glass of bubbles. We were not disappointed. Lovely filled sandwiches with ham, salmon, egg and cheese. Nice scones with plenty of cream and jam. On top of that some macarons, chocolate brownie, pasties and lemon cream. So much we had to take some home. Not only was the food delicious it was served with a smile and a very nice glass of pressecco. Thank you for making it a special afternoon.

User

The pub was closed for Boxing Day and I wrestled with my conscious having written a scathing review on here about it. Truth is, I love the place and that’s why I’ve been visiting since I was 18 (15 years!)-once again trekking through the cold and pouring rain just for a pint. With over 20 pubs closing a week, it dawned on me that lovely venues such as this need the full support of the community, not trolling because I missed a Facebook post about holiday opening times. A very Happy New Year to the team there-sorry for momentarily being ‘that’ guy.

User

Tempted to write a bad review so no one else goes & there is always a table !! I’m such a fuss pot & a huge critic of everything, I’m happy to admit that as I have very high standards. I LOVE eating here, the food is always amazing & the environment is always to inviting, come summer or winter, this pub is my most favourite place to frequent & I would eat here everyday if I could 10 out of 10 for putting up with a hard critic like me ! Ps our roast yesterday was just brilliant - thank you

User

Lovely pub, we sat in the garden on a beautiful sunny day. Delicious food and friendly staff.

User

Lovely family Easter lunch today. Food was great and Waiter that served us was friendly, attentive and went above and beyond. Can’t wait for this to become our local

User

Love this place, always take the dogs

Staff very lovely and friendly

Food is beautiful i like to order pie of the day yum yum!

User

Just wanted to say a massive thank you for Saturday night, we booked a table for 18 to celebrate my mums 60th. The service was great with helpful friendly waitress who attended to our every need nothing was too much trouble.

The food was amazing and plenty of it and the Gin was extremely good too.

Highly recommend and will definitely be coming back. Thanks again x

User

Just love this pub. The food is great, the staff are helpful and friendly, but above else the outside gin bar is a real winner. Perfect way to spend a summers evening

User

I ordered roasted rump of lamb with pesto polenta, roasted artichokes and red peppers. The food was wonderful!! There was a chill in the air but not inside Bird in Hand. The warmth and smell of the real wood fire was inviting. This particular dining experience was a special occasion for me as I am an American who was visiting a British friend. She knows I love bread and butter pudding. Being the diligent investigator that she is, she called ahead to see if it might be on the menu. It was not so she asked if the chef could make it for me, and he did. Best bread and butter pudding I’ve ever had. A lovely chocolate orange pudding with vanilla custard. Our waiter was engaging and funny, happy to banter with us but not overbearing. My friend and husband both thouroughly enjoyed their meals as well. A great spot for a special meal. I would go again. (If I could. 😉)

User

Delicious Chalk Stream Trout on Toast and Sausage and Bacon Bap from the new breakfast menu. Made a lovely change from Salmon. Highly recommend it.

User

A fantastic winter afternoon tea on Saturday. A lovely selection and a good amount. The staff were lovely and accommodating. My friend and I sat for over 4 hours chatting away. I will definitely be going again

User

Lovely food, will definitely be back, would have preferred being called 'Ladies' rather than 'you guys' tho

User

Fab pub, good choice of food fish vegi too, our first visit as moved to the area.

I would of given a 5 but no small cheesecake and didn’t offer another smaller pudding when I asked

Also sit in the other side of the bar if you don’t like dogs or want them to bark as my friend wasn’t keen..

User

Having eaten and drank in The Bird In Hand for many years and always been very happy seemed a good choice for a nice family meal out 9 adults 2 infants. Good choice if your not a family with young children, I may add keeping infants occupied during meals can be very hard and trying as parents that's why we packed books dollies colouring etc but sometimes that still isn't enough for 23 month children so when you are trying to calm them down but are quite restricted as it's raining outside so your in the reception area but out the main restaurant & a member of staff comes & closes the door on you as your child is too loud it kinda makes you not want to finish your meal just served (or eat out again!) & leave as your child is obviously too much even though they've sat like angels for the other hour at least your not just leaving them to cry in a main restaurant of people which nowadays many parents do won't be returning ever & would advise people wanting to enjoy a family meal pick a family establishment!!!!!

Food was good until this point service little disappointing anyway

User

I phoned ahead of our booking to ask about vegan menu options. I was assured that this would be emailed to me and it never arrived. The email address they had was correct as they emailed days later to cancel the booking because of a power outage. Would it be possible to have something a little more interesting than a salad as a vegan offering?

User

Slow service and poor food..extortionate cost. Why so much salt on kids chips?Tough chicken melted icecream and seperated liquid posset and a long long wait.Disappointed.
