Advice for ingrowing toe nails:
If your toenail is red, hot, swollen, painful to touch or there is pus coming from it, it could be infected.
1. Do not pick at your nail as this will make it worse.
... 2. Soak your foot in salty warm water 2-3 times a day. Gently dab dry, ensuring its free of any debris and if possible cover with a dressing or plaster.
3. Wear wide fitting shoes, sandals, soft shoes etc to prevent pressure.
4. Use paracetamol to relieve pain.
5. Consider using an antisceptic cream on the affected nail.

SELF CARE ADVICE
Any deterioration of foot health can have a lasting impact, so we've put together some advice for you to follow whilst we're closed:
1. Use a nail file to keep nail length down or reduce hard skin
... 2. If you're able to cut your own nails, cut straight across to avoid ingrowing nails
3. Use foot cream daily (avoid between toes) to keep feet hydrated and to prevent tissue breakdown
4. Wash your feet daily in warm soapy water. Dry thoroughly between toes to prevent athletes foot
5. Don't wear shoes or socks which are too tight
6. Change socks/hosiery daily
7. Do not walk around bare foot
8. Check your feet daily to look for any wounds or changes to the skin. If you can't bend down, use a mirror or ask someone in your household to do it for you
