Would just like to say that we have been coming to The Dovecote on a fairly regular basis since it opened and have had many special occasion dinners there I can honestly say that we have never been disappointed with the food or the service. On Sunday my husband , daughter and myself booked for lunch as their carvery is one of the best around , when we arrived it was extremely busy , the busiest we have ever seen it , with people having to wait for tables to become free even though booked before hand . The staff were absolutely rushed off their feet and under a great deal of pressure but still managed to serve us and everyone else with their usual attentive approach and high standards.

Would just like to say a big well done to them all for such great service and let them know that it didn't go unnoticed. We will continue to dine with you and recommend you to our friends and family in the future.

User

Wonderful fresh, beautifully cooked and presented food, lovely welcoming family and staff, decor is warm friendly and tasteful. The outside is a great space and a large lawned area for children to run around. My brother in law mark Gornall and sister in law Carole Gornall introduced us to the Dovecote , food and family and it is so worth the visit .

User

We were a table of 19 and everyone’s food came quickly and was really good. Service was great and the food was amazing! We will definitely come again...and thank you very much for the birthday cake :)

User

We have just finished a takeaway WoW it was awesome it was the tastiest curry we have eaten in ages everything was delivered hot and a super touch loved the free bottle of wine definitely order from you again

User

We ate here for a friends birthday meal, we thoroughly enjoyed our food, and our time in the restaurant, the food was awesome, very tasty and excellent value for money. Thank you x

User

This has to be one of the best gastro pubs ever. I've just taken my family here for Sunday lunch for a pre-retirement celebration and it is amazing that you can enjoy a Sunday carvery or chose from the a-la-carte menu. The place was very busy but relaxed; the food was exquisite and the service was welcoming, friendly and efficient. From 4 to 94 year old we were well catered for. Thanks to all the Dovecote Team.

User

Popped in for a Sunday Carvery and we were glad we did. This is a fantastic location for a restaurant, the welcome was loverly along with the service. The staff were very helpful and attentive. We opted for the Carvery which was delicious 😋. We certainly will be back again soon, and this time to try the Indian menu.

Thank you to all.

User

Plenty of parking, great food and friendly service.

User

Just been for a meal with wife and 2 kids under 4 years old and loved it. Food was fantastic, portions were generous, staff were great and attentive especially around my kids and very relaxed atmosphere. Have to admit it was very quiet (1pm sitting) so staff had plenty of time to spend with us but would definitely be returning. Menu had a very wide range with Italian, Chinese, Indian, Moroccan etc (waiter told me all the nationalities in the kitchen so competition was high to out do the others!) they came highly recommended to us. Loved it!

User

I was there last night my treat for an early mother's day and I couldn't fault it the staff was friendly and they couldn't do enough for you.very polite well done I will be back thank you

User

Fantastic and attentive service. The food was great too. Highly recommend, even if only for a beer in their huge sunny garden

User

Brilliant... Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and constant. We have seen the same guys for quite a few years. That is a good sign. Food is 'Master Chef' quality! ..truly!! Thank you to the chefs. AND when the weather is nice, you are treated to a beautiful sunset view over the Windrush Valley. Love it <3

User

Been a few times and always get a very warm welcome! Lovely staff, very friendly. Very clean and comfortable restaurant and never dissapointed by the food.

This is now our new local and we will be making the most of it! A fantastic carvey on Sunday's and Wednesday's and some other great offers too. Definitely recommend :)

User

Would like to say a big thank you to the busy staff here at the Dovecote. They kindly let us bring our puppy with us on Mother's Day for lunch (unlike a number of other local so called dog-friendly pubs) which meant we could join the rest of the family for a lazy lunch. As the people who had the table before us over-ran they were running late, so generously the staff let us have a free round whilst we waited at the bar for the table to become ready. The Traditional English Carvery was very tasty, and we were also given a free taster (full main really) of an Indian dish that we mentioned looked good on a neighbouring table.

Full marks for customer service, thank you

User

We went here today for the first time as a last minute decision and had the carvery. It was a little odd because it seems to be trying to combine and Indian restaurant with a traditional English pub. That said we found it very pleasant. The food was nice enough, as much as you could eat no frills roast dinner with all the trimmings. The staff were very friendly. It was a laid back, reasonably priced meal in a toddler friendly pub and saved me having to cook so overall a good experience and we will certainly go back.

User

Visited yesterday (Sunday) with 8 family members for a 50th birthday celebration and We all had the carvery. When we arrived the staff were lovely and really accommodating whilst we waited for everyone to arrive. We asked for a cake (which we bought elsewhere) to be bought to the table after dinner with candles in it, they were more than happy to do this and even sang happy birthday with us. Despite the restaurant being extremely busy with a que to the door the service did not disappoint. The food was great too and very well priced. The only criticism I do have is the beef although looked beautifully pink, was far too chewy and difficult to cut, meaning that all of us couldn't eat it. That's why I scored 4 & not 5.

User

Very poor and disappointing visit today for what was supposed to be a really fantastic Calvary and I have to say the 4 of us wasn't happy with our food or service really gutted as loved coming here. We booked for a 3pm sitting as it's 12-4 for Calvary there was hardly any meat left which was poor then to discover the rude awful lady sat on the table next to us was not only videoing us eating our dinner but also the staff which is both disturbing and disgusting and then when we told the staff there was no apology to us or even a thanks for letting them know all round very poor.

User

To me this is the sad demise of a once great eating place. It has long since been a favourite eating place for family get-togethers, and with my wife I would go there once or twice a month. The staff, food and service used to be great. It has now changed to yet another Indian restaurant run on a shoe string over the last few months – no more duck breast, no more Lamb shank – unless you like it and everything spiced to death. I like a bit of spice but all the old favourites are gone and the non – Indian food selection is very poor. The once friendly staff are reduced to a barman, a single waiter – who was in danger of breaking world speed walking records (no time to be friendly) and a cook, who no doubt has to do the takeaways as well. The service was a bit slow and we overheard complains from other diners at having to wait over an hour for food. The location is great and the food okay, but the variety (non- Indian), the service and once great atmosphere are gone – so be aware when reading old feedback. For us it has gone from a five star regular haunt to a one star looking elsewhere to eat out.

User

Been using this pub for a few years now, always enjoyed the food, we went last Friday, the food was awful and the customer service was even worse. After trying to explain to the manager about my concerns, his reply was that it wasn't his problem and his restaurant was very good. He explained that he had staff on holiday and maybe that's why the service was slow! He refused to give me any discount off my food or even offer a free drink. I paid £133.00 for a meal for 4 people. As I was complaining to him, two other couples also voiced there concerns about how the place had gone down hill recently and they wouldn't be going back.

It was the attitude of the manager that really got to me.
