My father served with the Gurkha regimen in Burma against Japan. I remember him saying when child that the Gurkha tsoldiers were the best fighters in world .

User

My father served alongside the Ghurkas with The Royal Welch Fusiliers in Burma. They stood shoulder to shoulder in any battle. He often spoke of the Ghurkas and had so much respect for them. Bless them all.

User

My Grandfather trained with the Gurkhas when he was based with his cavalry regiment in British India. He thought the Gurkhas were the best soldiers he had ever encountered! Bravest of the Brave!

User

My Father served with the Gurkhas during WW2, he spoke little of his War apart from his Nepali friends he made. His great admiration and respect for his Gurkha mates was passed on to me, so I run a group called Khukuris, Gurkhas and Nepal on Facebook now and am honoured to have many Nepali facebook friends.

I spent some wonderful years with the Gurkhas in Brunei and Hong Kong, I will never forget my time with 6 QEO Gurkha Rifles and when they were disbanded I was heartbroken. I was a member of 6GR in the early 70's, Brunei/Hong Kong and in the 80's supported them in Brunei via Brunei Garrison Workshops. My profile picture shows how proud I was to serve, that will stay with me to my grave.

User

I have total respect for the Gurkhas as one saved my dads life then he returned the favour but they were the most loyal friends my dad also gave me a proper gurkha knife

I have several Gurkha families as my neighbours and couldn't wish for better people to be neighbors. They are so friendly and helpful and always seem to be smiling. They are truely the Bravest of the Brave and most loyal. We are privilege to havew them as members if our armed forces andw as friends. Gurkha I salute you.

I had heard of the Gurkhas, but me being American, never realized they were still active.I am really impressed...These soldiers are for real! It is easy to see their pride of being a Gurkha and the camarderie they share. They have a rich history of bravery and determination, and they continue to build on this today. After reading about them, I have a great admiration and respect for them. I will say this...I'm truly glad they are on our side! What a great bunch of guys!

User

Gurkhas have stayed loyal warriors to the crown for over 200 years,I would be proud and feel safer having these great soldiers in the UK

User

All I can say my late father, had nothing but praise for the Gurkhas. They stood side by side in World War2 , fighting the enemy. Gurkhas never ran away from a fight. This is all i know. Much Blessings to all . Cher.

After the surrender of Japan in 1945, the Indonesians took the opportunity to declare Independence and started murdering the Dutch and Dutch European coming out of the Japanese concentration camps and not protected by the Dutch East Indies Army who were still in many POW camps in Burma and Japan. The British came in with their Gurkha regiment to protect the Indo European women and children. I've heard of their bravery and skills to protect them but I can't find anything written in de Gurkha history. Can anyone direct me to the right place?

User

This is one of the excellent way to get information about the Brigade of Gurkhas which I am finding it very useful.

I wish the copies of latest Khukri book and Parbate be published earlier rather than later as the stories we read are bit too old!

User
