We were staying locally so thought we'd give the place a try. We weren't disappointed, the whole evening was lovely. Kerr our server was excellent, he explained the items on menu that we asked about, he checked back with during our meal. The food was fabulous value for money, the choices vast. We felt the service flowed at a pace to suit us making it a relaxed evening out. We will definitely return when we're next in the area.

We had a fabulous three course meal this evening. Innovative menu, beautifully cooked, delicious flavours, attentive friendly and yet relaxed service, reasonably priced and despite being busy really good speed of service. We would highly recommend a meal here.

Our food was absolutely delicious - and the service was excellent, especially James our waiter. Only slight drawback was so busy it was hard to hear each other talk, but it did calm down once a big party left. Will be returning.

My mum and I chose the Smoked Haddock in a curry and mussel sauce. It was the best food I have been served in a long while. The fish was perfectly cooked and the delicate flavour of the sauce complimented it perfectly.



Together with great service we really enjoyed our visit and will return next time we are in the area. Thank you.

Spent the evening at the Huntsman with my family who were visiting for Easter. In the past we’ve had hit and miss experiences but last night was fab. Lovely food for all the family and great service... and even had the opportunity to extend our evening into a family skittles competition �� keep up the brill customer service guys!

Popped in for an afternoon drink. Sat in the sunshine in the cosy beer garden with our dogs. Very enjoyable experience, nice atmosphere and we will definitely pop back when in The New Forest.

Lovely pub, great bear garden. We ate last night. Both had steak. I ordered a fillet, medium rare. I would have said it was more medium to well done, but, was very tender. Wasn’t until this morning that we both realised we had no giant mushroom on our plate, only steak and chips. Would have mentioned it last night had I realised.

Nice food, little over priced, but then it is the South!!! Everything is over priced down here, even the drinks are more expensive.

Would come again, probably wouldn’t eat here just because of the expense but would certainly sit in the lovely surroundings for a drink.

Enjoyed our visit catching up with old friends. Food was very nice although not spectacular. My smoked haddock with curried mussel sauce was lovely & unusual but my husband felt his pizza was a little bit greasy and over cooked. However we had a very nice evening overall and our waiter was very good. Will be happy to visit again if in the area.

Certainly would recommend. We will be returning without doubt. Three different meals chosen and all delicious. Staff very attentive, had a bit of a wait between ordering and food arriving but we were apologised to and given a bowl of olives while we waited. Good value in a lovely setting.

Very disappointing meal last night. My Husband and I both ordered the steak as it sounded so nice. The menu says it is served with triple cooked chips, truffle butter, confit tomato and mushroom, yes one mushroom and one half of a tomato and very overcooked chips. The steak came, I noticed 'no' truffle butter, we asked the waitress, she she said it is was brushed on the steak. The meal was very dry and have had a lot better, will not go back or recommend.

They got much right but really let it down in small things: No hairdryer in room , no glass in bathroom , nasty mould stain on edge of shower, unwelcoming when arrived, instead of hello and welcome guy just said “rooms aren’t ready until 2”! Breakfast very good but beautifuk meats and cheeses but no bread to eat then with and no one said about help yourself and where juices were just “would you like tea or coffee and cooked menu”

The food at all meals was lovely and the room charming

Got a call the week before saying they no like took dogs! Not my problem we had booked!

After a few rude emails she finally let us stay in one of the garden rooms that had not yet been refurbished!!!Never stay again!! Terrible!!

We had the most ridiculous experience today 6/5/18. Found a table and ordered drinks for our 3 adults and 5 kids after the oakhaven colour run. Feeling a touch hungry so ordered 5 bowls of chips to share but were not allowed to continue our order as we were sat on the wrong side of the packed garden! We were told we were in the drinking side of the garden not the eating side, so we're not allowed to eat, as they needed space for drinking customers. Had various staff saying they would still bring our food out but the manager told us we just couldn't eat there, and no room in the 'right' side of the garden.

My friend and I have both come away feeling sick with stomach ache and nausea. We were well until about a half hour after leaving the Huntsman at around 5pm. Three common denominators 1. We both had pizzas. 2. I shared some of pizza with my friend. 3. We both had Lime and Soda. Won't go back!

First visit food was awful, especially triple cooked chips and mushy peas which were actually tinned garden peas slightly squashed! Given a £20 voucher to return for a better experience which was emblazoned 'Visit us again in 2018' only to be refused today as it was out of date. Yes, on the back was very tiny writing with 31st Jan expiry. Not handled at all well. Went on to eat at ALBERO which as again fantastic food and service

Booked a table for 20:00 arrived early to have a drink with friends before food all seemed good then asked to look at the menu, to be told that's fine but no food was being served for at least 30 mins, at 20:40 went to order food and they said they could not do food for another 40 mins at least, really disappointed they can take bookings and not cater for them, heard many other complaints too! Food taking over an hour to arrive!

Also don't do table service!

It is appalling to have no service or food after being able to book a table. Won't be coming back as you clearly can't keep track of your tables or kitchen.

Wasn’t until this morning that we both realised we had no giant mushroom on our plate, only steak and chips. Would have mentioned it last night had I realised.

Nice food, little over priced, but then it is the South!!! Everything is over priced down here, even the drinks are more expensive.

Would come again, probably wouldn’t eat here just because of the expense but would certainly sit in the lovely surroundings for a drink.

Enjoyed our visit catching up with old friends. Food was very nice although not spectacular. My smoked haddock with curried mussel sauce was lovely & unusual but my husband felt his pizza was a little bit greasy and over cooked. However we had a very nice evening overall and our waiter was very good. Will be happy to visit again if in the area.

Certainly would recommend. We will be returning without doubt. Three different meals chosen and all delicious. Staff very attentive, had a bit of a wait between ordering and food arriving but we were apologised to and given a bowl of olives while we waited. Good value in a lovely setting.

Very disappointing meal last night. My Husband and I both ordered the steak as it sounded so nice. The menu says it is served with triple cooked chips, truffle butter, confit tomato and mushroom, yes one mushroom and one half of a tomato and very overcooked chips. The steak came, I noticed 'no' truffle butter, we asked the waitress, she she said it is was brushed on the steak. The meal was very dry and have had a lot better, will not go back or recommend.

They got much right but really let it down in small things: No hairdryer in room , no glass in bathroom , nasty mould stain on edge of shower, unwelcoming when arrived, instead of hello and welcome guy just said “rooms aren’t ready until 2”! Breakfast very good but beautifuk meats and cheeses but no bread to eat then with and no one said about help yourself and where juices were just “would you like tea or coffee and cooked menu”

The food at all meals was lovely and the room charming

We stayed here last year, booked a room said we had a dog!

Got a call the week before saying they no like took dogs! Not my problem we had booked!

After a few rude emails she finally let us stay in one of the garden rooms that had not yet been refurbished!!!Never stay again!! Terrible!!

We had the most ridiculous experience today 6/5/18. Found a table and ordered drinks for our 3 adults and 5 kids after the oakhaven colour run. Feeling a touch hungry so ordered 5 bowls of chips to share but were not allowed to continue our order as we were sat on the wrong side of the packed garden! We were told we were in the drinking side of the garden not the eating side, so we're not allowed to eat, as they needed space for drinking customers. Had various staff saying they would still bring our food out but the manager told us we just couldn't eat there, and no room in the 'right' side of the garden.

My friend and I have both come away feeling sick with stomach ache and nausea. We were well until about a half hour after leaving the Huntsman at around 5pm. Three common denominators 1. We both had pizzas. 2. I shared some of pizza with my friend. 3. We both had Lime and Soda. Won't go back!

First visit food was awful, especially triple cooked chips and mushy peas which were actually tinned garden peas slightly squashed! Given a £20 voucher to return for a better experience which was emblazoned 'Visit us again in 2018' only to be refused today as it was out of date. Yes, on the back was very tiny writing with 31st Jan expiry. Not handled at all well. Went on to eat at ALBERO which as again fantastic food and service

Booked a table for 20:00 arrived early to have a drink with friends before food all seemed good then asked to look at the menu, to be told that's fine but no food was being served for at least 30 mins, at 20:40 went to order food and they said they could not do food for another 40 mins at least, really disappointed they can take bookings and not cater for them, heard many other complaints too! Food taking over an hour to arrive!

Also don't do table service!

Definatly not coming back

After booking our table for 8pm for four people we were told we couldn't place an order for food for 20 minutes then after half an hour we tried to place our order only to be told the kitchen was closed. It is appalling to have no service or food after being able to book a table. Won't be coming back as you clearly can't keep track of your tables or kitchen.
