Yesterday we had our wedding day meal here. We had the room upstairs. The staff were attentive but not intrusive. The food was amazing in size portion and taste. The sun was shining so we had use of the best garden. Perfect setting for a perfect day.

Wow, what a great little find. Despite visiting Canterbury on a very regular basis for the 37 years I’ve been on this planet, I somehow managed to miss this little beauty of a pub. Tucked out of the way, but still very walkable from the town centre, The Parrot is a wonderful traditional pub with a warm welcome, well kept ales and amazing food. The Skate wing and chips was totally delicious and my pint of Whitstable Bay, taken straight from the cask just for me, was perfect! A super cosy home-from-home and I can’t wait to visit again. Thank you for making us feel so welcome

User

Went here in 2009 and it was a lovely and delicious dining experience. Old school charm and taste. As a first time visitor to Canterbury it was a highlight of our wonderful time there.

User

We had an amazing evening the food was brilliant the staff were very helpful & friendly

We loved the pub the garden was really lovely

We will definitely be coming back !

We had a drink in the garden first then went to our table for our meal. We were not rushed such a lovely atmosphere loved it!

User

We checked in at the pub up the road but they had just stopped serving food so they pointed us in the direction of The Parrot. The staff were friendly and attentive and there was a decent selection of beers and wines and even some tempting cocktails available to. We ordered a couple of beers to start with and they were well kept and hit the spot! We looked at the interesting menu and decided to share the seafood platter for starters. I thought it a little pricy at just under £18.00 but there was a lot of it and it all tasted great! I had assumed the seafood platter might be quite filling and so had just ordered something 'light' for myself (the Welsh rarebit) whilst my wife had plumped for the fish pie. Both were ENORMOUS and tasted great! Had we been staying in Canterbury longer we would most definitely have revisited as, apart from the food and drink (we did have time to try a couple of cocktails too) and the friendliness of the staff, there is a lot of history to the pub and we would have liked to explore it further). We cannot recommend it enough!

User

We are from Manchester and travelling to Paris with the family. I had the Chicken Supreme with pasta and it was delicious. My son and daughter had the ribs with chips and corn on the cob, I tried some and all of us agreed it was really good and the sweetcorn the best we had ever tried. Someone had the burger and it was lovely. Everything was great and the reception and service was spot on xx

User

Was recommended this pub by a friend! Great pub, lovely food, good service even though it was Mother’s Day. Glad I had the recommendation. Will definitely be going back.

User

One of the most wonderful meals we've ever had! Francis (the manager) was brilliant and accommodating, full of facts about this centuries-old building, Jess (our server) was beyond friendly, quick and lovely, and the food!! Kentish steaks, crème brûlée, sticky toffee pudding...all of the standards were outstanding. But the favourite by far was Chilled Watermelon & Hot Sesame-Crusted Feta Cheese-new and even better than it sounds. Highly recommended due to the excellent food, everyone must visit (and make sure to ask about the history of this amazing building).

User

On a wet afternoon we discovered this quaint and very old pub, on enquiry we discovered that it was the oldest pub in Canterbury 1370 wow!! The atmosphere was homely and the food and service was fantastic. What a gem! If ever your in Canterbury please go there you won’t be disappointed. X

Lovely pub

User

From the minute you walk in you feel welcome. The staff are so friendly and attentive. The food was amazing. We both had the homemade soup, hubby then had the homemade fish pie and I had the roast which was the best roast beef I've ever had. You never leave hungry as the portions are very generous. The wine is nicely chilled (very important) This place is a must

User

Arrived at 130pm and we were seated immediately although we hadn't made a reservation. It started to get very busy around 230 and it was reservations only. I would definately recommend this restaurant to my friends. Service amazing, Food amazing, and the prices weren't bad either. Well done to all the staff who made a dreary Sunday afternoon very pleasurable.

User

Always excellent food and great service. Sat out in the garden area where the rambling rose on the wall was in full bloom. Lovely relaxing space in the centre of the city. Only problem- the garden chairs are very low for someone of short stature. My chin barely reached over the table top !!

User

A lovely impromptu lunch here yesterday. The food was very good, and reasonably priced . A very warm welcome from the manager ; and good advice regarding our wine choice.

Definitely recommend. 😊👍

User

EDIT- rectified in below comment, with promise to reimburse. Happy with service!

We went in for lunch with our 14 month old. After we ordered we asked if we could just have a single slice of bread for our baby while we waited as she was pretty hungry. That slice of bread cost us £5.25, the waitress didn’t warn us, and we feel pretty ripped off. Won’t be returning for that reason alone.

The service and food were good

User

Lovely little pub, very nice staff. However, we were disappointed with the roast lamb and small portion of accompanying veg. It was a shame. Puddings were divine though so that made up for it. Would go back but wouldn't have the roast again.

User

Friendly, efficient service. Disappointed in the quality of the food. Ordered Panko chicken, expected seasoned chicken breast but received processed coated chicken. My friend ordered mussels but there was only a mussel in every third or fourth shell. Have been to the parrot on many occasions and had far superior food. Will visit again to give it the benefit of doubt to see if there is any improvement.

User

Friendly service, the food sounded nice on the menu but when it arrived the actual food wasn't brilliant. I had a prawn cocktail for a starter but the Marie Rose sauce was just like mayonnaise without flavour, it had two king prawns that were still warm and I had a chicken breast in a bun that was dry and over cooked. I won't go back to eat there, however it's a lovely pub with friendly staff and good beer so will visit again but not to eat.

User

We were the first customers here and one of the first tables to order. Several tables came in after us and ATE and LEFT before we even got our food. Significant foreigner bias. Wouldn't treat others this way. Thumbs down for service.
