About The Pointer
The Pointer is a country pub with rooms in the pretty Buckinghamshire village of Brill. Open daily from 8am, we serve hearty and honest British pub food.
The Pointer Description
We love working with fresh, local and seasonal produce, so much so that every morsel we serve can be tracked from farm to table. Our meat and poultry all come from British farmers, our eggs are free range, and our fish is sourced sustainably from suppliers approved by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). Our fruit and vegetables are supplied from British farms wherever possible.
Here you can look forward to seasonal specials like slow-cooked shoulder of local lamb with crushed minted potatoes, and pumpkin risotto with crispy sage and quince jelly - not forgetting old favourites like The Pointer Burger and new additions such as The Pointer Ploughman’s. Steak lovers will be delighted to discover our Butcher’s Block specials board, which is updated throughout the day with the best cuts of Aberdeen Angus beef we have on offer. There is plenty of choice for vegetarians and vegans, and our children’s menu is just the ticket for hungry little tummies.
We also trade pints for local produce, so if you’ve grown it or caught it we’ll swap it for drink if we can make use of it in the kitchen. Dogs, children and muddy boots are all welcome.
With its garlanded oak beams, sheepskin rugs and cosy fireside nooks, our newly-refurbished bar is the perfect place to meet friends for morning coffee, a lazy lunch or a family Sunday roast.
It’s also a lovely spot for an evening drink - or pots of tea, slabs of homemade cake and bar snacks after one of Brill’s breath-taking circular walks.
Past our busy kitchen and to the rear of the pub you’ll find our beautiful thirty-cover restaurant - a converted 18th century barn with vaulted ceilings - which overlooks our enclosed and leafy beer garden.
We serve a variety of cask ales, a seasonal cocktail menu derived entirely from British-distilled spirits, and a thoughtfully curated wine list with a glass and bottle for every occasion.
House ales come from XT Brewery in nearby Long Crendon, and our fizz of choice is another local favourite - Dinton Folly. Our coffee is ethically sourced and supplied by Redemption Roasters – a social enterprise whose roastery is based in Aylesbury.
Pop next door and visit our Butcher’s shop for a varied and seasonal range of meats, reared to a consistently high standard. The Butcher supplies daily school lunches to two local primary schools - Brill and Oakley – and both the pub and the Butcher’s are proud to support our village school in its fundraising endeavours throughout the year.
A spectacular night’s sleep awaits you here at The Pointer, should you wish to make a night or a weekend of it. Our eight en-suite bedrooms boast comfort, luxury and character in equal measure, and a fabulous Pointer breakfast is included.

If you’re here for coffee or breakfast any morning you’re likely to spot our Head Gardener Ali bringing in crates of fruit and veg from Pointer Farm, and tending to the plants, trees and flower beds in our beer garden.⠀ ⠀ Ali has been growing produce for The Pointer since 2007, and he has an encyclopaedic knowledge of all things horticultural. Bar and restaurant supervisor with a solid background in catering, Georgia has been part of the team for five months now and was as delighted as the rest of us to read our latest AA inspection report earlier this week... Thanks to the hard work of Georgia and the team we have held on to our five stars as a restaurant with rooms, and our two AA rosettes for culinary excellence. Well done, everyone!

Thick, golden and not too sweet, our mini product tester said hers tasted ‘like fluffy clouds’ ☁️ Pairs beautifully with a beaker of OJ.
