The Pointer Rescue Service Description

The Pointer Rescue Service was established in 1973 and its founding member was Beryl Bugden. After many years of seeing well bred Pointers end up on death row in pounds and the RSPCA in the 1960's, Beryl asked the show clubs if they would follow the example of other breed societies and set up a section for "Welfare /Rescue". As this failed at AGM stage, she decided to start a rescue group with other like minded Pointer lovers prepared to take in any Pointer left unwanted. This group became a registered charity to protect its assets and to sustain the fundraising effort also led by Beryl Bugden. Sadly Beryl passed away in 2016, but her great work is being continued by Chairman Richard May, President Dorothy Torres, Secretary Carol Goodliffe, Foster & Homecheck Coordinator Alison Keswick , Rehoming Coordinator Leila Goss and Treasurer Gina Williams (nee Bugden).
