The Secret Jungle

Finally, some good news. We have today received confirmation that the new electronic locking devices will be fitted to the gate tomorrow (Wednesday). All being well the Jungle will be open for use within 24-48hrs.
We will very soon be contacting all of those that very kindly emailed their details to us to arrange some meetings. Hopefully the vandals have moved on and will leave the Jungle alone for a while for everyone to enjoy.

Regretfully the Secret jungle has once again been visited by vandals overnight. They have caused significant damage to the toy storage shed and have pulled up several trees and plants, scattering them around. In light of this senseless act, yet again, we have decided to keep the Secret Garden locked until such time as the new access gate system is fully operational, which we are hoping will not be more than a week to ten days. If anyone has any information on who was responsible for the senseless vandalism overnight, i would be very grateful to receive their names so that approprate action can be taken. We will update everyone again once we have a definate installation date for the new security system and hopefully at that time a firm date for when the Jungle will fully re open.

Update: We have been working behind the scenes to get the entrance gate and fob system back up abnd running, however it has emerged that this system is so badly damaged that it will need fully replacing. Please bear with us whilst we are getting this done. While the gate is in it's current state, the entry gate will continue to be chained closed at 4pm every day and opened at 9am, we currently have no option at present than to keep the gate locked at the weekends. I believe t...he new entry system should be fully operational within the next two weeks. Also, over the next two weeks we will be installing security spikes to the top edges of the wall, this will deter any further climbing by our lovely vandal friends.

Thank you to everyone who has sent in emails stating their interest in the Secret Jungle. We are collating all of these details and will be in touch with each of you individually very soon. To all of the volunteers, thank you, we would like to arrange a get together very soon to meet up and put faces to names and work out a cohesive plan that will return this area to its former beauty. We have lots of ideas in the pipeline and have had a really encouraging response from many ...organisations that would like to use the jungle for the first time.
Work has already begun to get the access gate fixed and re-instate an effective method of use, we will also be installing security measures to ensure that our uninvited vandals have no opportunity to destroy the good work that goes on here.

We are delighted to announce that, as of today at 13:00hrs, Manor House Nursery School took over as the new operator for the Secret Jungle.
As the new operator for this area, we are fully committed to ensuring that the community are able to access this wonderful natural resource and enjoy its many wonderful features. In the forthcoming few weeks we will be making some important repairs, which will inevitably require the garden area to be out of action, however we will try and... ensure that these times are kept to an absolute minimum. We will also be taking steps to secure the garden more effectively, to try and stop the senseless vandalism that has plagued this garden for some time.
We very much look forward to being able to open up the garden area fully stocked, clean and vibrant in the very near future for all of our community to enjoy.

“An important notice to all of the friends and users of The Secret Jungle. Funding from the Big Lottery ended in 2017 and it is with regret that Your Leisure, operators of the Secret Jungle, is unable to continue subsidising this community facility. We will therefore cease to operate the Secret Jungle from Sunday 2 September 2018.
We have been working hard with Thanet District Council to identify a viable future for the Secret Jungle, including alternative operators. This wor...k leaves Your Leisure and Thanet District Council, confident that an alternative operator will be found in the near future, which will allow the continued enjoyment of the Secret Jungle by the local community. Further announcements will follow once this situation has been clarified.

Myself and my daughter (5yrs) enjoyed a fab time at The Secret Jungle today. She held, petted and learned about all kinds of creepy crawlies and furry friends and loved every minute as well as enjoying singing, having her nails decorated and simply playing and running with friends in this beautiful, safe and sunny garden. The Your Leisure team were on hand, always super friendly and smiling to keep everything fun, friendly and safe. We felt really lucky to enjoy this super morning, thank you Jungle Team! Xx

My son is so prone to running away and this place is so secure what a life saver this place is

Lovely people taking the time to go one step further to ensure that u and ur family have fun can't wait to go again my children loved the arts and crafts day would recommend u all going with UR little ones x

I love this place. I went for an Age UK Thanet event which was held there which was absolutely brilliant in this setting. Great scenery, people and atmosphere.

Great place children lovery it so relaxed and peaceful
