Ukulele New Year everyone!!! This evening we'll be back in action at the Midhurst Parish Church, beginners from 7pm. Come along to learn ukulele, play ukuele, make new friends, learn to speak Russian, lose weight, exercise more, drink less, eat a plant-based diet ... whatever your New Year's Resolution might be, we've got it covered. NB: We do not speak Russian, but we do have a lot of fun. See you there! xxx

Did you know today is World Mental Health Day? How is that relevant to ukulele? Let us count the ways ... learning a musical instrument is good for your mental health! As is connecting with your community, getting out of the house, and making new friends. So what are you waiting for? Join us this evening at Midhurst Parish Church. Beginners from 7pm, first session free. Yay!

It's Tuesday again and that can only mean one thing ... The South Downs Ukulele Orchestra are meeting for fun and frolics at the usual venue (Midhurst Parish Church), and we'd love you to join us! Beginners from 7pm ... first session free. All welcome.
This is our current favourite song. Gotta love a lady with a uke. ;-)

SDUO members alert! We now have a closed group, just for us to chat about all things ukulele, to ask questions about what the heck Marco told us last Tuesday, and to share reminders about what we should be practising from week to week. Please join and join the discussion. :-)

Want to learn to re-string a ukulele? Come along this evening to learn this life-saving skill. Life-saving, we hear you say? Yes. Come the zombie apocalypse, only those who can string up a uke will survive. You heard it here first. Beginners welcome from 7pm. See you there ... you owe it to humanity to come. xxx

Our esteemed leader is back from his hols, hoorah! So let's get together to requaint our fingers with our strings. For those of you who aren't away in sunnier climes, your presence is requested this evening to run through our Madhurst gigs and playlists. We might amble over the road afterward for a drink or two. Newbies welcome too. Meet at the church from 7:30pm.

Who's coming to Picnic in the Park tomorrow?! Bring a blanket and your family & friends for some fantastic entertainment in the beautiful rolling hills at Woolbeding. If you're lucky, the South Downs Ukulele Orchestra will be on hand to show you how to pick out a tune or two. See you there, and in the meantime, please do your best anti-rain dance to keep those clouds away! Events kick off at 6pm. xxx

Uh-oh, what do we have here?! One of our lovely SDUO members may have accidentally acquired an iUke piccolo ukulele on behalf of the group after spotting it in a tiny Welsh guitar shop. Don't worry, you'll all get to have a go at looking after it, as long as you promise to read it a bedtime story and tuck it in at night with a lullaby and a kiss. xxx

Feast your ears and eyes on this little gem ... the iUke! A piccolo ukulele, measuring only 40cm, tuned one octave higher than a standard soprano ukulele. The sound has to be heard to be appreciated (watch the video in the link!) Don't you think one of these babies would be a great addition to the South Downs Ukulele Orchestra??? Watch this space ... exciting news coming soon. 😀

Missing our weekly meet-up? You'd better all be practising because we have a full summer of gigs and fun lined up! Keep your eyes peeled here for updates. In the meantime, keep on strumming. Peace, love, and ukuleles xxx

Always wanted to join us but never been brave enough? Don't be shy! Join us this evening at The Royal Oak for our end of term knees-up. We'll be having a few drinks and a whole lotta fun. Oh, and we'll be playing some music too. All welcome from 7:30pm. xxx

Friday night at The Royal Oak; so much fun and so many talented musicians. Thanks to all who came along and picked up a ukulele for the first time ... even if it was thrust into your hand without warning!
