One of the last remaining "proper" pubs in Consett. Down to earth owners, friendly locals, top notch jukebox and plenty of booze. Never had a bad night at The Turf!

I have worked here since the bar has reopened last year, so you could argue I'm biased, but I love this pub and everyone in it, whether I'm craicing on with people while at work or out for one of the mint band nights, I always have a good time here. It's clean and tidy, cause we all have o.c.d about cleaning; the drinks are a good price, and the atmosphere is always great. I'm moving away for uni soon, and one of the few things that make such a big thing seem not as scary is the love and support I know I will have from everyone at the Turf when I go; how many bars can you say that about these days?? :)

Had the cornedbeef pie and chips today.. I was very impressed, all homemade and tasted lovely. Will definitely be coming back for more.

Fantastic home cooked food, Very helpful friendly staff, I don't know of another place like it! and now doing take-away sunday lunches! Result! you can watch a top local band on the Saturday night and recover with a Sunday lunch to die for! it doesn't get better than that.

Fab food and company every time I visit. Sundays dinners are better than any other pub carvery and the hot beef sarnies mmmmmmmm �
